Chapter Text
THIS CHAPTER MAINLY ABOUT MAX:
As the night dimmed, rachel amber snuck in between max and chloe on their make-shift bed at the junkyard. The slight gleam from the flashlight shimmering on rachel's face made chloe get butterflies, the same butterflies from the night they met at the party. Chloe chuckled and wrapped her arms around rachel, putting her into the little spoon position. Max just lied there. Waiting patiently for someone to include her. But she knew she wasn't going to be. This is the dynamic in the trio. Chloe and rachel enjoy themselves while max watches from the sidelines. Before the police found rachel, max and chloe had so much fun together. Just the two of them. They hung out at the junkyard together everyday, painting each others nails, and shot at bottles. But it wasn't enough to convince chloe. Convince chloe that max is just as good as rachel. Max and rachel are incomparable. They both so unique and different in their own ways. Max feels a sense of distance from the two. She can't help herself from turning on her side away from them and shedding a tear. As much as she likes rachel, she misses when it was just her and chloe. As max was drinking in the grief from the loss of the friendship (or situationship 😜) she used to have, her phone started buzzing relentlessly.
Warren 8:43 PM [5.23.2013]
Hey wanna go to the concert tn??
I bought us tickets !!
U can't say no
please maxxx !!
its at 9
Max was in no mood for a concert, but how can you say no to warren? Her and warren's relationship was very different from chloe and rachel's. Max and warren's personalities complimented each other while chloe and rachel were yin and yang. Yet they work so perfectly. Max was always jealous that they had such a bond without even having to spent their entire childhood together. Max felt since her and chloe spent all their younger years together, she should automatically have a special place in chloe's heart. But that space that max wants, rachel occupies. Thats why max expresses a bit of bitterness towards rachel for no apparent reason.
Max 8:45 PM [5.23.2013]
I'll be there!
Every year, blackwell gives the students a concert. Each time, the performs are not so good. She has to atleast try and show up for warren. Atleast she has him. She pushes herself off the hood of the car where they're laying.
"wherya headin, maxine?" Rachel shoots max a snarky comment AND a smirk.
"nunya" Max spits out bluntly and darts off. She hears the giggles fade out as she continues running. For some reason, it feels like its making her ears bleed. It makes her run faster. Out of breath, sweaty, and annoyed when she finally arrives. Its obvious that max is pondering if this is worth it. Before she can just turn around and head back to her dorm, someone grabs her arm.
“Max! You look..,” A uneasy pause, “good!” Warren gives the sweetest smiles. A surge of steadiness hits max. maybe this is where shes meant to be. With warren.
"right back at you!" max lets herself giggle. She finally gets it. She doesn't want nor need to be around rachel and chloe anymore. As the night progresses, her and warren indulge in all the snacks and candies while spitting endless jokes at eachother. Max didn;t recieve a single text from either chloe or rachel and she didn;t expect to. After alls was done, warren drove max home in his sweet new ride. Max was smiling and laughing again, something she hadn't truly felt in awhile. Till her bliss came crashing down when chloe texted her.
