Chapter Text
Since before the beginning of the known universe, something had existed, something so powerful and old that it predated creation itself
And this something was the Gods
Gods, which one moment while floating through the emptiness preceding creation willed into existence the world itself through a single thought.
Since then, each God had moved their separate ways, going on to create worlds in their image in the new universe they had just birthed, and while they did still meet at times, they mostly stayed out of each other's way.
In these worlds, the Gods created life, gifting them with abilities and knowledge. They gave their creations the ability to lift mountains, the might to bend time to their will, the ability to create rays of heat so hot that they melted the very essence of their worlds.
Yes, all the Gods, including Od Laguna, made sure to gift their lovely creations power beyond measure because to them it simply made sense. Why shouldn't their creations being's made in their image, not share even the smallest fraction of their power?
That was the general thought of the Gods, excluding one God known as the creator
This God, unlike his brethren, made the life on his world weak, frail, easily torn down by the most simple of threats. He didn't grant them enough power to lift mountains instead they were so weak they couldn't even lift a boulder, he didn't allow them to bend the elements to their will but instead made their will bend to the elements, In short this God granted them nothing more then the intelligence from their creation and his blessing to progress however they wished.
The other Gods saw the actions of the creator and laughed. "How foolish" they said "To create life in your image and yet make them all so fragile as to die by the mere wind? HAH truly you are a fool if you consider THAT a worth while creation" and so he Gods including Od Laguna laughed at the creator finding his actions foolish and cruel and yet the creator did nothing but smile.
"Hear me, my brethren," the Creator spoke. "In time, you will find your creations consumed by greed and a lust for power, the gifts you gave them turning against themselves and being used for their selfish desires. The societies they make will progress little as corruption runs rampant, and they will all suffer in a cruel world where power rules all." He spoke not with a mocking voice but as if he already knew the outcome of their choices
"When you realize the flaws in your creation you will march over to the world in which I made to see how it had suffered much like yours only to find a society that had progressed stagnation being a force removed from society on the grand scale on which my creations will live" The Creator spoke with confidence in his words his gaze not wavering for a second as the God's who ridiculed him watched on in confusion
After that Eons passed and the words of the Creator stood true as each of the God's found their world's stagnant, corrupted, or on the brink of destruction due to the gifts that they had given their creations and just like the Creator said they went to his world to see if it was to same for him
However, unlike their worlds, what they found was much different.
They saw booming cities, civilizations progressing farther than any of the Gods had ever seen, and the living creatures living in relative peace
"How?" The Gods asked the Creator, "How has your world not fallen to the same greed, corruption, and lust for power as ours?"
And yet again as he did when the first mocked him the Creator simply smiled "That is where you all are wrong" He said "Much like your worlds mine has also suffered the plague known as 'sin', my creations have known and thrived in cruelty, they have developed weapons to destroy each others lives, and they have regressed in many point's in their history"
Confused, Od Laguna spoke up, "Then how did your creations build castles which scrape the very sky? How do they live in such peace?"
The Creator sighed, "Can you still not see? They were created with nothing but the intellect granted to them and my blessing to grow as they wish. They have lived for centuries without the power to survive as they wished and due to that craved it but once they finally reached the power they had sought, they realized the danger it brought with it and now try to cast it aside for a more peaceful tomorrow."
Looking at his fellow God's with pride he continued "They had realized the importance of patience, kindness, bravery, justice, integrity, and control due to having grown from nothing into something and threw that they learned how to control their rage and need for control" The Creator paused "Something that I myself learned through watching them"
Having nothing more to say, the Creator turned away from his brethren and moved back toward his world, ready to continue watching it with pride and hope, leaving his fellow Gods to contemplate his words.
They realized what they had done, they realized where they had messed up when creating their worlds, and realized it was too late to reverse that mistake.
However, it was never too late to try to improve their worlds in subtle ways like the Creator, and so they, including Od Laguna, went to observe their worlds and help improve them where they could.
Od Laguna stood in a nebula deep in the universe, thinking to itself in frustration
They weren't frustrated because of the state of their world (Even if they did want it to improve) No, they were frustrated because of the person from Earth, the Creator's world, which had been pulled into Od Laguna's world by one of it's own creations. Now they weren't frustrated because the Creator's creation came into his world, in reality Od Laguna didn't mind, but instead because of its inability to help them.
Since the human known of Subaru's arrival into it's world Od Laguna had known that it needed to do something to help the boy who was likely to be killed in a single day due to how dangerous Od Laguna's world was compared to Earth so Od Laguna attempted to gift Subaru a divine protection strong enough to keep him alive.
A simple solution, right? Wrong! because whenever it tried to give the child a gift for some strange reason, it would disappear as soon as he gave it to them, forcing Od Laguna to sit and watch in frustration as the child fumbled around in its world and... died. And yet they came back from the dead and turned back time with them.... Oh boy, Od Laguna had a feeling this wasn't going to end well.
And as it would turn out, they were right! Because in less than a year the child would proceed to die over 20 TIMES each in a progressively more horrible ways (something Od Laguna was HORRIFIED to see) and to make matters worse Od Laguna was forced to watch while this happened unable to help the child by giving him blessings powerful enough to keep him alive!
And now, because of that, the other God's had called it away from its world to be punished for the suffering of the boy.
"Od Laguna.... you should know why you are here." One of the God's spoke
"Yes, I am aware."
"Then you are also aware of the grief you've caused one of your brethren?"
Od Laguna spoke with a bit of desperation, "It wasn't me who caused the boy to suffer!"
"Perhaps, but it was YOUR creation that brought the boy to your world. It was YOUR creations which had killed him repeatedly, and it was YOU who refused to lend the boy your blessing."
"I tried! But whenever I gave the boy a blessing, it would be stripped from him immediately by an outside force."
The God shook his head. "Then tell me Od Laguna, what force in the universe WE made could possibly strip our own blessings from our own creations?"
"I-I do not know, but I speak nothing but the truth!"
The God turns away from Od Laguna and doesn't speak for a moment"'..... Are you aware of the reason the Creator isn't here right now?"
Od Laguna shakes their head before the God continues speaking, "As you are aware, the Creator is by far the most sentimental of our brethren with a love for his creations unlike any other God. That is why when he heard and saw how one of his beloved creations suffered, he wanted nothing more than to seek retribution."
The God sighs before turning back to Od Laguna. "However, he saw that trying to seek retribution himself would only lead to unnecessary destruction, leading to him asking us to speak to you in his stead so he didn't do anything.... unnecessary"
"......"
"Even if what you say is true and something did interfere with your blessing's the Creator still wants something from you, and at this moment, you have no right to refuse."
"..... I will do anything he asks of me. However, I refuse to do anything that would harm my creations and that. is. final"
"Worry not, your task will be far more reasonable."
Od Laguna takes a moment to process his fellow Gods words, "Task?"
The God simply smiles before he begins to speak
In the aftermath of the Battle of Priestella, the camps sat together discussing what to do next before Reinhard turned pale
"Hey, you okay Rein?" Subaru asked in concern for his friend
"EVERYONE GET DOWN" Yelling out is a concern; everyone couldn't react in time as a flash of power filled to room, blowing everyone in the vicinity away, excluding one person
"Emilia!" Yelling out in concern, Subaru tries to move toward his liege, only to stop in his tracks
'Why... Why am I so afraid?' Subaru is unable to move forward as he is paralyzed by a power behind him
"NATSUKI SUBARU" A voice boomed into his and everyone around him's mind. Against his better judgment, Subaru turns around only to see a figure that he simply could never describe, a figure which seemed to radiate power.
"IN ACCORDANCE WITH MY PACT WITH THE CREATOR OF YOUR WORLD I OD LAGUNA SHALL BE IN YOUR SERVICE" And with those words everyones mind's went blank from shock.
