“So Jane, is this a friend of yours?” Loki’s voice boomed down at her as he gestured vaguely to the small woman next to her.
Lu gave Jane a sideways glance, which Jane returned with a sheepish smile of her own.
“Uh something like that.”
Loki grinned at the two of them, sharp, white teeth contrasted against his blue lips. “Splendid!” He shouts, something that could probably be heard across the country. “Tell me, What is your name, Earth Girl?”
Lu cupped her hands to her mouth before taking a deep breath in and shouting, “My name is Lu!”
The frost giant’s resulting laugh made the ground shake.
“My hearing is just fine, I assure you. There is no need to shout.”
“Wasn’t sure,” Lu shrugged. “You’re all the way up there and I don’t like repeating myself.”
“I’m sorry, what was that?” Loki asks as he leans down slightly, hand to his ear.
Lu inhales again. “I said i don’t—“ The sound of Loki and his fellow Jotuns snickering made Lu pause.
“Okay, you got me there.” She laughed at herself before looking back at Jane who looked very uncomfortable to be present for this interaction.
“Call SHIELD,” Lu says to Jane. “Tell them I have this under control.” Her voice was full of confidence as she turned to walk toward the large blue being.
“Wait what?” Jane asked, thoroughly confused. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going on my date.” Lu smiles proudly. “That’s what you brought me here for isn’t.”
“I said double date.” Jane corrects her before shaking her head. “Wait, I mean, I wasn’t being serious about that. Besides, I thought you were supposed to get them to leave?”
“Girl can’t you just do what I said. I got this.” Lu says confidently, looking at the physicist. The way she spoke, there was no room for discrepancy, but Jane was still not convinced that the blue haired woman knew what she was getting into.
“I can’t just let you go by yourself.” Jane’s voice gets low, “What if he does something?”
“Are you coming or not, Earth Girl?” Loki sighed, tired of the faint sound of the two bickering.
Lu didn’t even turn to look at the giant. “I said my name is Lu, and yes, just had some things to clear up first.”
“Lu…” Jane said, still very concerned.
“Jane, I’m not looking to debate this any further, my date is waiting.” Lu asserted as she turned to walk toward the Frost Giant waiting on her. “I’m a big girl, I can handle him.” She then holds up her fist as blue light begins to circle around it, “Trust me.”
Jane sighs in defeat as she watches them walk off, Loki very excitedly clamoring over the brief display of power performed by the small earth woman.
“Oh!” Lu shouted, turning back to Jane. “By the by, Captain Marvel said she wasn’t done with the ‘God of Thunder’ yet so like, instead of being caught up with me and my business, I’d go check on your boyfriend.”
“Wait What!?”
Lu offered no further words on the matter, finally turning her full attention to Loki and his friends.
“So Jane mentioned you were from some Ice Planet? You know there is a really interesting book along those lines.”
—————
“So tell me more about these powers of yours.” Loki asks Lu, who was now sitting on his knee. “I was under the impression that you midgardians were not capable of doing any sort of magic.”
The past few hours between them had been spent sharing various knowledge from both of their respective planets. While Lu had a very rudimentary understanding of life elsewhere from her job and what she knew of varying myths, hearing things from a resident was far more fulfilling.
“You know I’m glad you asked because I’ve been waiting to talk about it for a long time.”Lu laughed, knowing her specific choice of words would go over Loki’s head.
“Well,” She started, “Your comment about humans and magic is incorrect, and what I do isn’t magic its-“
“Well then how do you do it?” Loki interjects impatiently.
Lu gives him a blank stare, annoyed at being interrupted.
“As I was saying!” She says loudly before pausing to glare at him.
“Go on, my apologies.” He says as he waves his hand in a motion begging her to continue.
“So I can do this,” she says as she holds up her hand as blue energy emits from it in a manner similar to her earlier display. “Because I’m a mutant.”
Loki watches her with a childlike interest, as if he hadn’t watched Thor do similar millions of times.
“So this isn’t a magical feat, and also isn’t something that the average human is capable of?” He asks, genuinely interested in her answer.
“Right. Mutants are like humans but better I guess, but you’d never know it with how we’re often treated.” Lu says, her voice filling with a slight sadness. Even working with SHIELD, Lu was not exempt from the ill treatment that came from being a mutant. It was never overt but the day to day microaggressions that came with being a Black Mutant weren’t unknown to her.
“Weaker beings often are afraid of what they do not understand, of what is different.” Loki says thoughtfully. “You are something special Lu, I can feel that deep within me, You should not worry yourself with the thoughts of lesser beings.” Mindful of their difference in size, Loki gently strokes her back reassuringly with his finger.
“You’re right.” She looks up at him as a smile breaks through the negative spiral that threatened to take her down.
He smiled back, the genuine emotion shining through before his mischievous nature came back into play. “Of course I am.” He said smugly.
“Whatever.” Lu rolled her eyes and laughed as she pushed at his hand, which was now resting beside her. Of course it didn’t budge, but the action suddenly put their difference in size into perspective. “You’re hands are really big.” She thought out loud.
Loki couldn’t help but laugh at her very obvious observation, his sudden movement jostling Lu from her seat on his knee.
"Hey!" She shouts, grabbing at one of his fingers to keep her balance.
"Sorry," he apologizes as he watches her readjust. "But you know that’s not the only part of me that’s big.” His voice lowers in a suggestive manner.
“Well obviously, you’re like what 10ft?” She says matter-of-factly, trying to ignore his all too obvious proposition.
“12 actually. Thor and I checked according to your Midgardian terms.” Loki said, very proud of himself.
“You know that sounds about right.” Lu rubs her chin as she looks him up and down. “I’m sure we could still make something work though.” She grins, circling back to what he was obviously eluding to a moment earlier.
Loki’s eyes widen with interest.
“I have to admit, I’ve never laid with anyone of your size. You don’t fear me hurting you?” As thrilled as he was with the idea, the slight concern for her wellbeing was ever present.
“Wait you mean to tell me you’ve never fucked Thor?”
“Asgardians may be similar in appearance to you Midgardians, they are definitely more hearty than you lot.” Loki answers.
“That isn’t answering the question.” She presses.
“Are you really so concerned with my history with Thor over testing my capabilities for yourself?” He says smugly, still avoiding her question.
“Okay okay, you’re right.” She laughs. “How about this, I rock your world, and then you give me my answer, because like, I am genuinely curious for Uh reasons.”
Loki shifts, reaching to start peeling away at his armour, careful not to shake Lu from her perch on his knee. “You have a deal, Earth Girl. I will give you the answer you are so determined to have, if you are capable of ‘rocking my world’ as you put it.”
Lu grinned, that spirit of competition adding to the fires of desire lighting within her. “Oh honey, haven’t you heard? It’s not the size that matters, it’s what you do with it.”
