Rody felt a yawn threatening to leave him as he was scrolling down the channels on the tv. He’s finally taking his weeklong days off from his flight job. During the holidays is where all the money is being made and Rody could not miss the opportunity to make money. He was at this point of his career that he does not worry about money, but he can now pick up extra shifts. Having the extra income is nice in the long run.
He is relying on this paycheck to pay at least three months of rent and hoping to still have money for a month worth of groceries. If a person ask Rody that he was able to be ahead of bills three years ago, he will definitely laugh at them. Never in his wildest dreams to think he would have a stable job and proper care for his siblings.
Rody and his siblings were able to move out of their trailer home to a nice neighborhood from the help of the Japanese heroes, that Izuku insisted.
“You practically save the whole world! The least they can do is give you and your siblings a proper home.” Izuku cried on the phone call they were having. “Don’t worry about anything, all you have to do is bring your handsome self to the office and sign the lease of the house that All Might arrange for you guys to live!”
Rody smiled softly from the memory phone call that Eraserhead and All Might had placed his family into a hero relief program, that families were affected from direct villain attacks. Pulling from his thoughts, nothing on tv caught his attention until he stumbled on a news outlet, covering a story over a familiar hero. However, Rody sit up straight from the couch as he had noticed something strange.
Looking closer to the screen, he can see that Deku’s once bright green eyes are now dull and his smile torn as he was talking to the man that was doing the interview. That fake smile… The hero has practice time after time to not let anyone know what he was thinking. But he can’t fool his beloved.
Who took away my hero’s light from me…
Rody gritted his teeth together and watch intensely to the tv. “So, Deku, what can you tell us about the rumors of the raising crime rate in the rural areas that some heroes patrols. Folks are worried that you and the other heroes have abandon them and only focus on the bigger cities.” the pink haired man asked Midoriya. The fuel to the fire. Everyone wants to blame someone for not being there for them.
Dread filled in his veins as this story was hitting too close to home. This is how Rody use to think about heroes before he actually met a real hero. His town does not appreciate heroes because most of them are after fame and money. Not caring about the lives that live in their city and turn a blind eye when help is desperately needed.
As if Deku can actually sense his exact thoughts from thousands of miles away, brisked in anger, “No one under my care and protection should never feel that I have abandoned my duty as a hero!” Deku almost shouted. “I can care less of a rat’s ass about ranking or popular vote; when someone is in need of help, I will be the first one there. SO many “heroes” care so much about the damn thing.” Midoriya quoted hero with his fingers, “My wonderful partner had to suffer from the lack of heroes’ presence that at one point he had given up hope of heroes. But I had quickly step in and demanded to the local government that cities in rural areas should have at least three major and minor heroes present at all times!” He finished passionately.
Rody’s eyes widened slightly, they have yet to discuss their relationship to be public, but he guesses his lover went ahead and told the whole world. He smirked; he could not wait to read the tweets of the beloved Japanese Hero of being snatch away from his fans. Trying to figure out who stole the hero from them, yet his smirk turned into a lovesick smile because not even a second thought his beloved announce their love to the world.
Rody once again look at the calendar, he was already thinking about visiting Izuku in couple of months. However, after this announcement, he has to see him now and give him a kiss that his life depends on. Rody quickly pick up his phone on the nightstand and dial one of his few friend’s numbers.
“Hey, I know its last minute, but can you please watch Rolo and Lala for a week? I will wire you $250 right now I just need to take a trip to Japan,” Rody pleaded with his friend. There was a slight pause, making Rody nervous from the lack of response. “No way you are Deku’s lover, Rody Soul. You manage to snag a foreign boyfriend and to top it off a top hero foreign boyfriend. My man, of course I will watch your siblings for you. Only send me $100 I don’t need that much to watch out for my best buddy.” his friend responded with kindness that Rody did not know he needed in his life, but he still blushes at the comment.
“You are so funny, I am going to give you the full amount and if you send it back, I will double it. But I need to see him to show I am here for him!” Rody smiled over the phone, hanging up before his friend could response back. Luckily for him, he was one of the few to fly planes for personal usages, but he just had to make sure no one had book him for flights.
He opened his work app and quickly filled out a request for PTO for four days. He waited for a couple of minutes and just like that he was approved for his trip. Which was surprising because he knows damn well it takes months for this to happen. Rody shook his head to the side not going to question it. He has to meet a handsome Japanese man in a couple of hours, and he could not wait to see him.
