Work Text:
Neil wasn't supposed to be there.
Usually, his tuesday was filled with lectures, but both his teachers have cancelled their classes for some reason, so he was free until practice.
Probably, it would be wiser to use his free time to study or complete one of his many assignments, but he knew his dorm would be empty right now, with both Kevin and Andrew in classes, and he could use some alone time to sleep.
So he goes back to the Fox Tower, enjoying the unusual silence as he takes up the stairs. He even lets himself smile a little as he fishes his keys from his pocket when he arrives in front of his dorm door.
Except the door is already unlocked.
Wary, he looks around, he knows Kevin has some history class that he adores right now, so he wouldn't just skip it, and Andrew has a test he couldn't lose either, but maybe Aaron or Nicky had come by for some reason. Either way, he enters the room slowly, looking around before noticing the empty kitchen and living room.
Neil is almost convinced they just forgot to lock the door in the morning, when a noise coming from the bedroom almost makes him jump.
The door of the room is closed, so he stops in front of it wondering if the element of surprise would play in his favour. With a sigh, he opens the door.
And he wishes he didn't.
"Jesus!" Neil screams, closing his eyes and covering them with his hands just to be sure he won't see anything else.
"Neil! What the fuck you're doing here?"
Hands involve his shoulders, and then he's being pulled into the room and shoved against the wall.
"You pest, I'm going to kill you!" Allison keeps her hands on his shoulders, holding him firmly.
"I can't believe you're sleeping with him!" It's all he can say. "All those nights you spend telling me how disgusting he was were for nothing?"
"No! He is still disgusting!" The blonde defends herself. "Open your fucking eyes, Josten!"
Neil hadn't realized he still had his eyes closed, wishing he could just burn his memories. He had seen a lot of awful things in his life, but the vision of Kevin and Allison together had top it all.
He looks up at both of them, now thankfully dressed.
"Neil-" Kevin starts.
"What about Thea?" He interrupts. "Are you cheating?"
"Please, what do you think I am? They broke up!" It's Allison who answers with a huff.
"So you're dating?" Neil checks, resting against the wall, now that he saw the worst already, he's finding the situation kind of fun, Andrew will love to hear about this.
"No!" They answer in unison.
"We're nothing." Kevin completes with a nod.
Well, Neil had heard it before, and now they sleep in the same bed, share clothes and have sunday nights dates.
He raises a brow, and Neil's face must have said something, because Allison gasps and Kevin scowls at him.
"Not like you both." He spits. "We're just..."
"Enjoying ourselves!" Allison interrupt.
"Yeah, something like that." Kevin agrees. "And you can't tell anyone!"
Neil is about to agree he won't tell, their relationship doesn't have nothing to do with him after all, and as long as it doesn't interfere into the court, he doesn't mind. Also, he knows Kevin would never do something that would jeopardize his game.
But Allison looks viciously at Kevin, pointing a finger in Neil's direction.
"What are you talking about? It's Neil, it's obvious he will open his big mouth and ruin my name!" She snaps. "We'll have to kill him, there's no other way."
Kevin rolls his eyes, but Neil suspects the blonde is not joking, she surely has the means and the will to kill someone. He looks around, planning his escape, if he runs there's no way they can get him. But Allison follows his gaze, positioning herself right in his way to the door.
"I'm sorry, I love you but this is bigger than us. I'll try to make it painless."
"Don't get close, I will attack you." Neil warns, stepping back, Allison might be one of the meanest opponents he had to face his entire life.
"Allison, we can't kill him." Kevin comes to his defense. "We're in the middle of the season, we need him."
"I don't care if you guys are together." Neil hisses at them. "And I won't tell the rest of the team, okay?"
The other striker nods, a serious look on his face, but Allison lets out a dry laugh, snapping a finger at him.
"I don't trust you, you're going to blow it all in the second Kevin's pisses you off, and Kevin is always pissing you off."
That's probably true, Neil is already thinking in all the ways he can humiliate Kevin with his new discovery, but Allison and him had grown closer after Baltimore, and he knows how important it is for her to be with someone else after Seth, and Neil may be an asshole, but he still have a heart.
"I won't tell." He promises. "Ally, I wouldn't do it with you."
She looks at him, and then at Kevin.
"Do you think he's trustworthy?"
"No." Kevin spits. "I know I will never know peace again, but we can't kill him."
"You're right." Allison finally concedes with a sigh. "At least it was you and not Nicky"
"You would really have to kill him, he would tell everyone." Kevin prompts.
Neil agrees, no way Nicky would keep this a secret. And even though he doesn't really know why they're keeping this a secret or if they have further feelings for each other, he knows sometimes people deserve to keep their secrets to themselves.
Finally, Allison stops blocking the door, stepping aside.
"I swear I will eat your tongue if you open your mouth about this." She threatens. "Now get the hell out."
Neil steps out of the room, looking at his friends again only when he's already in the hall.
"I won't tell anyone, I promise." He says. "Except Andrew, of course, I will tell him everything."
Allison curses and Kevin screams, but Neil is already running down the stairs before any of them rethinks about murdering him.
.
Later, he finds Andrew in the kitchen, warming up their dinner. Kevin is nowhere to be seen, so he steps in front of Andrew with a smirk.
"What?" The blonde asks.
"I need to tell you something." He announces. "Kevin and Allison are fucking."
Andrew blinks at him, and Neil swears a small smile appears in the corner of his mouth.
.
When Kevin comes back that night, he finds Andrew and Neil sitting on the sofa. They stare at him until he sits down in front of them.
"If we can have the dorm to ourselves on monday nights, you can have it on tuesdays. No questions asked." Andrew says.
Slowly, Kevin nods.
