Chapter 1: Vision

Chapter Text

They say memories come from experience, but every time I hear a familiar song, I get a déjà vu I swear never happened in this life.

It’s happening again. The hallway is empty, lunch is almost over, yet I’m still standing here, frozen outside the council room, listening to them sing. Each note they hit, each lyric they sing, I know it. I shouldn’t know it. But, why do I?

I’ve never heard of this song in my entire life, but the moment I do, it sends a chilling wave through me.

It feels like I've known this song before.

I try to peek slightly through the door, and just as I suspected—it’s Mizi: a member of the student council, and Sua: a member of the book club. As I watch them in secret, a sudden throb pulses through my head. A blurry vision flickers into view. Two girls. They look like they’re… performing on a stage?

I snap back to reality when someone taps me from behind.

"You know, it's really not good to peek," Luka, the vice president, whispers.

He seems... kind of cold, as usual.

"Ah." I freeze up again, just realizing what I was doing.

Till, you fucking idiot.

"Sorry, I really wasn't trying to be creepy. I swear," I say. He looks at me—not in an 'I believe you' way, but in an 'are you sure about that' kind of look.

I feel my face heat up from a mix of embarrassment and annoyance, but I try to stay calm. "Look, dude—"

He sighs before letting out a small chuckle. "No, don't worry, Till. I'm just playing with you." He flashes a playful grin.

Oh.

My head throbs again. Another vision flickers. This time, it’s a blond guy, eerily similar to Luka.

I see him performing.

But this time… I’m on the stage too.

What the— This feels too weird. I can feel myself breathing faster. There’s a drip on my nose, but I can’t move at all. It’s like someone else is controlling my body.

"TILL!"

Mizi snaps me out of it, and I jolt upright, gasping for air.

Huh?

"Why are you guys outside?" I ask, still dazed. "We suddenly heard Luka calling your name over and over," Sua says, her arms crossed. "We were really worried when we found you unresponsive like that," Mizi adds, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I feel my cheeks burning red, unable to make eye contact with Mizi.

"O-oh, I'm alright now," I say, scratching my head.

I didn’t see it, but I could tell Mizi noticed me blushing and immediately distanced herself, going over to Sua. It was like an indirect way of saying “Don’t take it the wrong way.”

She’s probably known for a long time that I like her.

And... I know she’s like that with Sua, but I just really can’t control how I feel.

I feel like a fool.

"Well, we're glad you're okay now. Lunch time is almost over, so you might as well go back to class." Luka pats me on my back, encouraging me to go.

I look back for a moment and bowed to them before walking back to class.

Weird... Until now, I only felt a déjà vu, but why did I suddenly see weird things too...
