"The sheriff making you come in on your day off?"
Steb asked Vi as he walked into her office, she hadn't even realised he was in yet it wasn't even 7am yet.
"Nah. Just had a couple things that needed wrapped up, then I'm gone."
Vi told him, her eyes not leaving the file on her desk. Truth be told she was just killing time before going back home, but he didn't need to know that.
"Alright then, mind giving me a hand quickly. It will only take a moment."

Steb really needed to figure out what the word quickly meant, Vi thought to herself as she looked at her watch. It was now 11am and they were still knee deep in paperwork.
She looked over at him, his nose in one file or another, and mulled over in her head wether she should continue to help or get back home. She really was desperate to get back to what was waiting for her, but Vi knew that the longer she waited the sweeter it would be when she finally got home.
With a new resolve she got back to work organising files, doing the grunt work she swore she wouldn't do again after being promoted to Deputy.

Vi looked at the floor of the room Steb had taken over, now clean of any and all papers. She looked over at him smiling widely as did he, well his mouth curled slightly but that was still the most she'd seen him smile.
"We finally done then?" Vi sighed out in relief.
"Yes, Vi. We are done, thank you for the help I know you were supposed to have today off."
Steb said, looking a little guilty.
"No worries man, I'll be sure to tell the Sheriff that I'm owed another day."
With that, she lightly slapped him in the shoulder and made her way out of the station. Vi couldn't contain her excitement now, after waiting all day to get back home. She glanced at her watch and saw that it was now almost 4pm, maybe she had left it a little too long. She quickened her pace slightly, deciding to make the walk home a light jog home.

As soon as Vi unlocked and went through her front door she heard it, the slight buzzing and whimpering coming from behind her closed bedroom door. With a smile on her face she locked her front door, kicking off her shoes and went over to her kitchen sink to wash her hands and fill a glass of water. She downed the glass then refilled it taking it over to her bedroom, she slowly opened her door and marvelled at the sight in front of her.

"You were supposed to only be gone an hour or two, not ten."
"Sorry, you know how it is, I got held up at work. Seems that the Sheriff wasn't there today, whole building was plunged into chaos."

"I suppose since you're mad you just want to have dinner then head to bed then."
