Chapter Text

Izuku slowly drug his feet as he walked slowly entering the gates of the private university of UAU. Dreaded the first day of this new school, it felt like he was behind in his major already even if he had taken all the classes online the year prior. He knew nobody except for a small group of friends who are the sole reason he attends UAU in person.

He curses in his head at Todoroki who didn’t meet him at the gates like he promised he would. Instead of waiting for Todoroki like a rational person, Izuku decided he would find his own way to his first day of class. He shoots a quick text off to Todoroki to say that he didn’t need help and they could catch up later.

After earning no response back from Todoroki, he slides his phone back into his pocket and starts his walk to his first class of the morning, creative writing with professor Aizawa. Izuku had heard from his friends to be prepared and never be late to this class because Professor Aizawa was strict and he took attendance everyday as soon as the time for class started.
Izuku continues walking to what he hopes is the right building, lost in thought about how the day will go. Without checking his surroundings, he collides with something, no wait, someone. Opting to help them up like the gentleman he is, reaching his hand out for the person he collided with to grab onto.

“Shit, sorry I wasn’t paying close attention. Are you al- Kachan?” His eyes widen when he recognizes his childhood friend sitting on the ground. The unruly haired blonde has not changed much since the last time Izuku saw him many years ago.

Katsuki glares up at Izuku making a lethal face that makes Izuku visibly wince. Katsuki scoffs rolling his eyes “tch don’t call me that shit”
Izuku flinches before extending his hand again “I’m so sorry Kacha-” Izuku clears his throat “I mean Bakugo. I wasn’t paying attention, let me help you up. Here.”
Katsuki shoves Izuku’s hand out of the way aggressively baring his fangs “I don’t need your fucking help nerd. Now get lost.” Katsuki growls out.
Izuku stares, still barely holding his hand out for his childhood best friend who clearly still hated his guts. Without saying another word Izuku fully retracts his hand before walking off into the direction of his class hoping he has enough time to make it. In the distance he hears cursing and loud growls of the unruly blonde.
Izuku finally makes it to the right building and into class with minutes to spare before the lecture starts when out of the corner of his eye, he sees the same head of blonde hair he just encountered entering the classroom.

They make brief eye contact, and another loud growl is shot throughout the room causing everyone to stop their conversations and stare at the duo.
Izuku pays no mind though going back to checking his phone with the remaining time he had left, he sees a short text from Shoto.
‘Hey sorry got caught up. Meet for lunch?’

Izuku quickly shoots off a reply when a scruffy man with a clear lack of sleep and a scowl enters the room.
The scowl remains on the mains face when the students pay him no mind. He clears his throat loudly the scowl at the point remains permanent
“You’ve already wasted seconds of my time but who cares I’m not the one paying for it. Open your books, we’ll begin after roll.”

Class ended surprisingly fast, the moment the students finally quieted down and Professor Aizawa took roll the class began promptly. Professor Aizawa lectured for the whole hour only stopping to take occasional sips of water when needed. Izuku took notes the whole time trying not to think of the loud scowling blonde rows behind him.
Izuku wasn’t even sure why Katsuki was in the same class as him because there is no way that Kachan would ever be a literature major, that just doesn’t suit him.
When Izuku checked his phone after class he saw another message from Shoto telling him to meet in the lunch hall.
Izuku briefly looked around to make sure no loud blondes were anywhere near for him to accidently run over again before making his way to what he hopes is the lunch hall.
When the greenette finally makes his way inside the hall he sees his dual-colored haired friend sitting at a table with two other people. One with dark blue hair making chopping motions while he talked and a brunette with rosy, pink cheeks.

From just looks Izuku can’t tell what their secondary genders could be. He knows that his dual toned friend is an alpha just like most of his family, and as Izuku gets closer to the table he can smell the presence of an omega. The scent of the omega who he assumes in the brunette with rosy cheeks permeates the area coating the areas in a way that can be described as sticking your face into a bouquet of roses swirling around with Shoto's own describable smell of a fire burning during the cold months mixed with cool minty tones. The other man at the table carries no describable scent, something so muted that he can only be a beta.

Izuku himself presented as an alpha many years ago, going through all the rough patches of being an alpha, between ruts, too strong scents of others, the hormones.
Izuku finally makes it to the table containing his friend Shoto and the two others sitting there. The green haired boy gives a tight-lipped smile to the trio of people. The omega with the rosy cheeks gives him a soft smile “oh hi, you must be Izuku. I’m Ochako”

The blue haired beta makes a chopping gesture towards Izuku “and I’m Tenya Iida”
Izuku takes a seat at the table next to Shoto giving another tight smile “I’m Izuku. It's nice to meet you both.”

The trio continues to talk amongst themselves about different topics, but Izuku doesn’t hear a single word; his mind keeps racing back to the interaction between him and the explosive blond he shared his childhood with. The greenette still isn’t sure what made Katsuki hate him so many years ago, what Izuku could’ve ever done to make them no longer be friends.
As if on command from Izuku’s thoughts the unruly blonde that is invading the freckled boy's thoughts walks into the lunch hall. Katsuki’s scowl remains on his face as usual, but he isn’t alone; he walks with a brutish red head with a razor-sharp smile. As if Katsuki can sense Izuku was thinking about him, their eyes lock for a fleeting moment before Izuku quickly averts his gaze finally listening to the conversation happening at the table.

Though as if Shoto was also watching the interaction between the dynamic pair he turns to Izuku quietly asking “Do you know him?”
Izuku’s eyes quickly snap to Shoto’s at the question but before Izuku can answer the explosive blonde towers over the table the group is sitting at. The blonde sneers down at the green haired alpha who keeps his eyes down deciding to not look at Katsuki feigning like the pair don’t know each other. While Izuku acts unaware he takes the time to take in his surroundings and while he does this, he also takes in the smells to ground himself. He can smell Shoto’s relaxed nature, the rosy cheeked girl, Ochako, is slowly releasing her calm flora pheromones, Iida’s scent is still the dullness of a beta, and the newcomer to the table Katsuki, who has no scent at all, almost like something is covering up his scent.
Izuku’s eyes shoot up to the blonde as if he’s figured something out, his eyes shoot to the blonde's body almost as if searching for something, anything that could be blocking his scent. The blonde lets out a loud growl baring his fangs “quit fucking staring you green haired freak.”

Izuku stares back, shocked again by the behavior of Katsuki, he still doesn’t get the intense hatred that Katsuki holds over him.
The alpha with the curly green hair stares back at the table losing himself to his thoughts once again wondering why exactly does Kachan not have a scent, what could possibly be blocking his scent from coming out, he doesn’t see any patches, and why could Katsuki possibly need to block his scent anyway?
