Why Deku’s outfit is drippy

and why bakugou outfit sucks

PART 1 : COMPOSITION

An outfit's composition is important to how you set the aesthetic. You wouldn’t add chains and a spiky choker to a cutesy outfit, would you? No, because that would completely throw off what you’re going for. That’s why Bakugou’s outfit, composition wise, is ass.

Look at Deku's outfit. It makes sense. The vibe you’re meant to get from it is boyish, youthful, and slightly put together with thought. The red shoes show that he’s still childish, while the overlay of a button up show that he at least put a little thought into it, along with the cargo jeans. It’s cohesive, it makes sense.

Bakugou’s doesn’t.

First, look at the bottom of his outfit. Brown slacks and dress shoes. The first impression you get is someone who is VERY put together. Who actually cares about how they look, and how they style themselves. It gives 1900’s, chic, male high fashion, tailored suit, as in the examples below:

Elegant, prominent, all that stuff. I’m not saying bakugou couldn’t fit this, even if he is an ass, with his complexion this style would absolutely fit him, but it’s the top half that ruins the whole outfit.

The top half gives you streetwear, punk who doesn’t care and probably barks orders at people who get in his way. It doesn’t match the bottom half at all. These styles are not something that can be mixed. For example, you could mix the boyish style of Izuku’s outfit with streetwear, and it would look great! But Elegance and streetwear are not to be put together. It looks unfinished, like you made a drawing, cut it in half, and glued it to another, previous piece. It’s not good, that’s what I’m saying.

PART 2 : COLOR PALETTE

Now that we’re over composition, we can get to the most artist aspect of the outfit, the colors. This is what mainly throws me off with Bakugou’s look. First off, look at Deku’s color palette with this outfit

It’s all very cohesive shades of blue/green, that blend well together. And the red + yellow accents add to the overall vibe, blending it in a way that doesn’t seem unnatural and that doesn’t clash. While his button down over the shirt is 2 tones teal, when you look at it the teal blends, creating a similar shade to the blue shirt. Colors can look bad with each other depending on saturation.

The blend of the button up colors is basically the same shade as the shirt, which contributes to the likeness of the outfit as a whole. While a darker, muddy teal which was taken directly from the nice teal and made less saturated and darker clashes against the blue. Not only does that shade of teal not match, but it also wouldn’t go well beside the t-shirt, even if it wasn’t a complimentary color. The color of the shirt doesn’t match well with darker hues, since the All might symbol on it makes you immediately think of bright colors.

Now, you might say that Izuku’s pants are a dark color, and they mesh well with the shirt. That’s because the pants are jeans, and we all know jeans somehow manage to match with every fucking thing. Seriously, throw on whatever shirt you own with jeans and it WILL match. The magic of Levi’s will never cease.

To note, Izuku’s red shoes might seem like a stand out, but that’s what adds to the outfit. If it wasn’t there, the outfit would still be good, but the iconic sight of the red shoes brings it together and pairs with the vibrant yellow on the shirt. It makes the outfit palette more fleshed out.

Now, onto bakugou’s colors

Do you see the difference? Bakugou’s immediately clashes. His outfit doesn’t incorporate the shirt, it rejects it. Blue and orange/brown CAN work, but not if you’re Katsuki bakugou who doesn’t know how to buy a good jacket. This is NOT drip. If the shirt wasn’t blue, and instead it was a red, or even a navy blue, it would’ve fit, but it doesn’t.

The overall tone of the outfit is neutral, earthy tones. And while the orange can blend into that, the pattern of his jacket and the figure does not. The colors clash with the shirt, which is the main aspect of the outfit. The point of both outfits was to show off the shirt, and bakugou failed by doing way too much. Your eyes do go straight to it, as it stands out the most, but then you’re overwhelmed with the fact hat the rest of the outfit doesn’t pair.

Now, you might be saying, “but it’s just complimentary colors!!” And that’s true, orange is opposite to blue on a color scale, but this isn’t how you’d make a look like that. If you were to make it, you’d add more blue, and shades surrounding the blue (ex: green, or purple). Even if you didn’t, there’s way to make it compliment more.

Look at these outfits

Do you see how the blue blends with the orange? Very well.

In the first, it blends because of the fact it’s an art piece. You notice the koi, and you associate it with the blue of the lake. (I’m aware it’s more teal than blue but idc) you can put those two together, and it works.

The second outfit plays into the shade like I said for deku, expect this time the dark and light work in harmony. The orange is a rich, burnt shade, and the blue is a light, sky blue, so when you look at it, you see the influence of the dawn. It works, in a way that Bakugou’s doesn't.

The third is just a shirt, but the orange of it still blends. The darker blue complements the gradient orange, bringing the overall vibe together. Last, the track suit. It doesn’t blend, but it makes both stand out at the same time. Your eyes aren’t brought towards one section, you intake it as a whole. And the blue + orange is spread out all over, not only in one focus point in the center like the shirt.

These outfits WORK, color wise. Bakugou just didn’t look up references and didn’t get it. The bright blue of the shirt, paired with the burnt orange doesn’t work like it did with the sky blue dress. Just like Deku’s out, it’s similar in shade, but the shade doesn’t matter when the colors don’t blend. The yellow makes it stand out even more, which ruins the overall feel of it.

PART 3 : DRIP

I’m not gonna be a suck up, Bakugou has more drip than Deku. Even though he looks like and idiot with the way he walks, some of his outfits do go hard. Deku doesn’t aim for drip though, he aims for comfort and somewhat style. His main goal is to look nice, not to attract people to him because his chains are shiny.

But his drip in this outfit? Beyond scales. Bakugou wants to look tuff, Izuku does it naturally. The style that this man emits is easy to recreate and doesn’t look like a jumbled mess. Izuku knows how to coordinate his clothes, he knows that bright blue with burnt orange doesn’t go together, unlike some people. And yet, his look is still effortless. No extras, no accessories, only a button up, men’s non-no brand, series five, one-size t-shirt, cargo jeans and red shoes.

It looks so good, even being so basic.

Bakugou tries to achieve drip, especially with the puffy jacket, but it falls off when you look at his grandpa shoes. If he tried to act tuff, people would immediately make fun of his dress shoes. That’s not drip. Real drip requires people to look at your fit, and envy that your outfit looks that fire. Personally, I would never want to dress like Bakugou in this photo.

CONCLUSION

Deku’s outfit is good, great even, for someone who doesn’t know how to layer or how to style an outfit. Bakugou’s outfit is bad, for someone who obviously spends good money on his clothes.
