Summary:

Work Text:

Yin’s base was full of big buildings. Everywhere you looked was decorated. The faded green of the savanna grass, the blue of the water, the orange of the copper, the cyan of copper left unwaxed. Everything was constructed perfectly. Except for one thing. One thing he never finished. The observatory. Signs sat posted in the ground outside of carefully marked paths: “observatory” “observation duo reference”. Observation duo. What people called Yin and Cod. They were only called that because they so happened to have a moment together on top of Cod’s observatory. Well, that and the fact that Cod always seemed to be observing Yin. That’s how this messy relationship started. Cod would get bored and observe people on the server, but he could never quite keep his eyes off of Yin. What about him was so interesting? Was it the goggles? The work ethic? The fact he called him a stray dog when they first met? The fact that he could know a way out? No one knows. All they know is that they seemed to stick together. But why? Did Cod feel safe around Yin? Did Yin feel safe around Cod? Neither of them could answer that question. They seemed to gravitate towards each other, like the sun and moon being observed through an observatory. The observatory. There’s a hole in Yin’s heart. Of all the buildings he could build, he could never build the observatory. A building that would remind him of Cod. Although, all of them seem to do. Cod’s room in his house, Cod gathering materials for the villager apartment, Cod watching him build his storage house. Every building, every block, led back to him. Even the plant life reminded him of Cod. The cherry trees that Cod always built, the sapling he planted, the mycelium he spread. Mycelium. It always spread. It started to sprout by his buildings, by their picnic spot. He never got rid of it. Maybe Yin is too sentimental. The scars left on his face by the mycelium which Cod healed. The scars never go away. Cod never goes away. Not from his mind, at least. Never can he forget. Does Cod feel the same?
