Chapter Text
From the early days of Robloxia, when the blocks and the buildings of modern civilization still weren’t created, when light hung over the sky longer than it should because darkness was yet to be written, when each stud and block was still carefully observed and placed lovingly by the admins, when the first few people began to emerge from a place called imagination, this world still knew no lie.
It is not known when the first act of deception appeared, or the first instinct to cause chaos emerged. The records of such things mattered not much to the admins, therefore, nobody could truly tell when the act of obscuring the truth began to seep into this world.
But from a place that knew no light of truth, birthed an entity, whose only purpose was to embody deceit. The smile that gleamed in the darkness melted away the shadows surrounding him, and condensed into an ironically bright star.
And so from that day forth, unsuspecting robloxians may find themselves with a painted smile, or hands that begin to pull their jaws into a wide grin until it splits the seams of their cheeks. A voice that spoke too many lies until they lost direction of all that is true and false and believed that perhaps their life may not be so real as they perceived at all. Sometimes, incidents of close ones’ faces suddenly distorting, growing unrecognizable. All they knew that came with these occurrences was a glitchy laughter and a dark purple shadow that looked over the vicinity.
So they began to put a name to it. Some called it the Deceiver, some called it That Which Melts the Darkness.
But some had claimed to have heard its true name.
“….”
Though they never could speak it before their mouth formed a permanent smile.
This being, holding authority rivaling the admins, ever eccentric and elusive, began to collect devoted followers, who.. mostly are there out of fear.
There were believers who fervently thought the admins could not handle such an entity, and had willingly chosen to join their side.
However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
For all the seemingly boundless power this entity held, it was constrained by one single rule.
It had to be known.
If a lie was known by none, then could it really be called a lie?
So was this creature trapped by the same rule.
No matter. It had enough eyes watching them to sustain this status for eons before it could get concerned.
And, well, if one dares to forget, try looking at your smile in the mirror next time.
