Work Text:

It was a ridiculously hot summer. the kind that had you wanting to peel your clothes off and submerge yourself in freezing waters just so you can breathe steady.

the slight buzz of the fan kept Hyuntak entranced, eyes lazily staring at the ceiling. sprawled across his bed, sunshining through the open window. Hyuntak hasn't moved since the heat rudely made Hyuntak aware of its beating rays that lulled him out of a groggy sleep.

Hyuntak sighed. blinked a few times, blindly reached for his phone on the bedside table. rolling over on his side when he grasped it in his sweaty palms. Hyuntak lazily opened his phone, staring at the notifications from the groupchat he had with his friends. mostly of Baku talking to himself, sending random videos, too many emojis. He replyed with no urgency. Shifting in his bed, the heat on his skin making itself known. He groaned, tossing his phone aside and groggily sitting up, swinging his legs on the side of the bed.

Hyuntak stretched his lanky limbs, pushing himself to stand soaking in the sulight. A faint ding lulled him out of the brain fog. He looked down on his bed to grab his phone. A message from his bestfriend, Baku.

🏀 - you are coming with me today to baekjins

Hyuntak groaned, tilting his head back. He did not want to 3rd wheel and witness Baku and Baekjin's annoying loud flirting. Not that he had a problem with it. No, he was happy for his bestfriend for finally realizing his feelings for Baekjin. Although it took him stubbornly too long and a bit of a push from Baekjin. Though it worked. The pair has been attached at the hip since the last week of school. It is now 3 weeks into summer. Hyuntak has mainly been spending it either playing basketball or lazily watching videos on his phone when the heat gets to be too much. Which it was one of those days. The heat being annoying persistent. Hyuntak felt heated to the touch, sweaty palms, clothes sticking to his body uncomfortably. So the thought of dealing with being a 3rd wheel just so he can get some relief in the form of a cold, ridiculously big pool was an attractive thought, so he promptly texted his bestfriend back.

🥋 - ok ok, but im only coming for the pool. it is annoying hot today.

Hyuntak didn't bother waiting for a reply. He tossed his phone back on his bed and headed towards the bathroom. Brushing his teeth before taking a short, cold shower just so he can get these sticky with sweat clothes off of him. After he was finished he put on a simple outfit. Navy blue swim trunks, a fitted, but loose white tee shirt.

Hyuntak returned to his room, picked up his phone to see Baku's message.

🏀 ‐ ill be over in 15

That text was exactly 10 minutes ago. So, Hyuntak made his way to the front door. Grabbed his keys, wallet and slipped on socks and sneakers. No need to say any goodbyes or tells where he is going. His mom was a nurse who was overworked to keep the both of them taken care of. He loved and appreciated his mom for her hardwork. always taking night shifts which sometimes bled into the early morning like today. As he stepped outside he sent a quick text to his mom just so she knew where he was. The noise of a gate clicking open made his head rise to the noise.

"Ready to go..Gogo?" , Baku chuckled out as their eyes met.

"That was so lame Baku. These jokes are getting worse and worse." Hyuntak groaned out while walking towards his idiot of a bestfriend.

Baku swung an arm around Hyuntak's shoulders when they started walking to Baekjin's house.

"Ahhhh come on Gotak, i thought you would like that one." Baku grinned his stupid wide grin while chuckling to himself.

Hyuntak could only shake is head and shrug off Baku's arm to stuff his hands in his pockets.

The walk to Baekjin's house wasn't long, but wasn't short. By the time they were at the front door Hyuntak had a thin layer of sweat on the nape of his neck.

Baekjin opened the door like he had been waiting like a dog for his owner to come home.

"Humin-ah!!" Baekjin happily sang as the door fully swung open.

"Jin-ah" Baku softly said, like he relaxed at the sight of his boyfriend. Promptly walking his way into the house and catching his boyfriend in a hug, pressing his face into his slender shoulder.

Baku sighed deeply as he relaxed into his boyfriend's slender frame. breathing into his shoulder. "i missed you Jin-ah" Baku said, soft and sweet.

Hyuntak cleared his throat awkwardly. Baekjin let is gaze drift from his teddy bear of a boyfriend to Hyuntak's presence in the doorway.

"Come in, Hyuntak. Make yourself at home." Baekjin said, smiling at the slight squeeze his boyfriend gave his waist.

Hyuntak awkwardly walked into Baekjin's house. This was the first time he was been here. He has heard Baku talk about it before, seen pictures that Baku sends to the groupchat of it when he is here. It was nice. Clean. Spacious. Tidy. Expensive looking. It wasn't a huge house, but it was definitely bigger than your average family home. Hyuntak took of his shoes and slipped on the house slippers. Thoughts of Baekjin's house getting interrupted when Baekjin made a slight sigh like he just remembered something.

"Oh. I forgot to mention that my friend is here as well. I hope you don't mind." Baekjin says as they walk towards the kitchen. His and Humin's hand interlaced, slightly swinging while they walk side by side.

"Is it the friend you talked about before?" Baku questioned his boyfriend while slightly tugging him to where the fridge was.

"Yes, He said he was bored and overheating, but now all he is doing is playing those dumb games on his phone in my room."

Hyuntak only hummed in response. He didn't mind other company. He chuckled when he saw Baku looking through Baekjin's fridge.

"I'm going to swim." Hyuntak said, not in a rude tone. Just a flat tone, more bored than anything. Also wanting to get away from Baekjin and Baku before they start getting all flirty with eachother.

He didn't stay to hear either of the couple's response. Surely their attention was on eachother. Hyuntak didn't need to look to know what he would see. Baekjin drapping his hands loosely on Humin's shoulders from behind while he looks in the fridge to find anything and everything to snack on.

Hyuntak opened the glass door to the backyard. He gasped slightly in awe of the sight before him. A clean backyard. Nice tile that housed a sitting area with a firepit in the middle. A long, decently wide pool with lounge chairs on the side. Hyuntak walked toward a lounge chair that was in the shade and sunk into it. A satisfying relaxing sigh left his lips as he fully stretched out. Taking his phone, keys and wallet out of his pocket to put on the little table next to the lounge, he contemplated just jumping right into the pool, but he thought second of it. Instead he pushed up on to his now bare feet, house slippers long forgotten at the glass door. Hyuntak carried himself to the side of the pool and sunk down until his lanky, but muscular legs descended into the cool water, stopping just under his knees.

"ahhhhh" a sigh of relief and pleasure rolled off Hyuntak's lips. He sank back, using his palms to hold himself up. Absent mindingly swaying his legs in the cool water.

Seongje had been bored out of his mind for these past 3 weeks. He was starting to loose interest in going to the Internet Cafe. It seemingly has been getting too hot for the shitty AC to even make a difference in the stuffy room. He has been playing League for a few hours now. Winning ranked games was no issue for him, all he had to do was boss his fellow classmates like a drill instructor. Though he wasn't having fun anymore. So he slaughntered up lazily, running a hand through his messy, damp, dark waves when he took the headset off.

"i need a cigarette." Seongje huffed out while grabbing the pack from his pocket. Raising the cigarette to his lips as he walked outside with no sense of urgency. Lazily fishing his phone out of his pocket. As he got outside he lit the cigarette that was held in between his lips. A sharpe inhale as he felt the smoke burn down the back of his throat to his lungs. He exhaled slowly as he lazily looked at his phone. Pulling up Baekjin's latest text.

🦈 - It is too hot today. Come hang out. Humin and his friend are coming over.

That peaked Seongje's interest a bit. He doesn't necessarily dislike Baekjin's boyfriend, just thinks he is a bit aloof. All mucsle, no brain. But that isn't what caught his attention. It was the mention of a friend. Seongje thinks he knows which friend Baekjin is talking about.

Go Hyuntak.

Seongje had seen a picture of him on Baekjin's instagram a couple of days ago. Just an innocent selfie that Bakejin took with Humin pressed into his side. But Seongje didn't care about that. His eyes caught the sight of something entirely different. His breath hitched when he first saw him. Saw Go Hyuntak. He was effortlessly and naturally attractive. Sharp jawline, slender nose, high cheekbones. He wasn't even looking at the camera, just looking to the left as he sat awkwardly next to Humin. Seongje had then pressed Baekjin about who that was. Found out it was Humin's bestfriend. A boy that shared many interests with Baekjin's boyfriend. Seongje found himself staring at the picture again and again.

How can someone be so pretty, but so stotic looking?

So, staring at Baekjin's message. Seongje hummed. A satisfied hum because now his day was going to get less boring. Seongje messaged a quick, 'i'll be there in 10" to Baekjin while he stubbed the cigarette out with his shoe.

When Seongje got to Baekjin's house he opened the door and walked in like it was nothing special, because it wasn't. Seongje was familiar with Baekjin's house. Coming and going for these past 3 weeks of summer. He slauntered into Baekjin's room and huffed out a sign as he sank onto the bed.

"Where is your idiot boyfriend?" Seongje questioned as he layed back.

"Should be here soon." Baekjin said without looking at the tall, lanky boy that just sprawled out onto his bed. He only turned around and walked to the door. Only pausing to say over his shoulder, "Are you coming down? They should be here by now."

Seongje only grunted in response, fishing his phone out of his pocket to play a mobile game on his phone. Baekjin sighed and walked out of his room.

Growing bored of his mobile game, Seongje sat up on Baekjin's bed. He isn't sure how much time has passed, but he know he hears murmers in the kitchen so he pushed himself off the bed and walked towards the hushed voices.

Seongje was greeted with the disgusting sight of Baekjin sitting on the counter, idiot boyfriend of his between his legs and his tongue down his throat.

"Where is your friend?" He said loud enough for the couple to hear him over Baekjin's moans and Humin's deep grunts.

Baekjin lazily stopped kissing Humin to look up at Seongje like he had personally offended him.

"Ughhh. Why do you choose now to come down? It has been an hour you fucker." Baekjin sighed and rolled his eyes at the tall boy that has a deadpan, bored expression sitting atop his masculine, but elegant features.

Humin turns to face Seongje. "Gotak is outside in the pool. Been there ever since we got here. Was grumbling about it being too hot."

Seongje was already making his way to the glass door before Humin finished speaking. Only grunting and rolling his eyes when he heard Baekjin start to moan again.

Hyuntak is relaxed. Floating on his back in the cool water, letting the sun beam down on him. He isn't sure how long it has been. He doesn't care. Doesn't care about what Baku and Baekjin are doing. All he cares about is how good the water feels enveloping his body. The deafing noise of the outside world muted by the water in his ears. So no, Hyuntak couldn't have noticed a figure staring at him from the glass door. Nor did he hear as the figure stalked towards him slowly. Hyuntak still layed there, floating in the cool water without a care in the world, unknowing that his body was being eaten by a burning gaze.

Seongje almost cursed when he walked outside. Go Hyuntak. Go Hyuntak, the prettiest boy he has ever seen is floating in the pool on his back. Seongje stalks towards the side of the pool. Looming over pool with his height and frame. Drinking in the sight of a shirtless boy, one that is in slightly too short swim trunks. A pretty boy with the most relaxed expression on his face. Seongje could stare at him for an eternity. The picture didn't do Go Hyuntak justice. He was better in person. Even from this distance, Seongje could see his ethereal, delicate, but sharp features. He caught his lip in between his teeth as he crouched down next to the pool. Fingers lazily dipped into the water. Seongje decided just to stare at the boy floating. Taking in how relaxed he seemed. His hand dug into his track pants pocket for his cigarettes. He pulled one out and placed it lazily on his lips. Lighting it slowly, eyes never leaving the boy's figure in the pool.

Hyuntak's nose wrinkled up when he smelt cigarette smoke. He was unsure if he actually smelled it or just imagined it because he knows Baku doesn't smoke, but maybe it was Baekjin? Hyuntak smelt the smoke more strongly now. So he squinted his eyes open while moving upright in the pool. As his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the sun he gasped at the sight in front of him.

A man. Crouched down at the edge of the pool, cigarette in his mouth with a lazily smirk on his lips. Hyuntak heard the soft chuckle that came from the man when he gasped at his presence. A deep, velvety chuckle. Hyuntak stared with wide eyes.

"Like what you see, pretty?" the man said with a cocky grin as he finished his cigarette and stubbed it out on the ground.

Hyuntak felt the flush on his face amd it had nothing to do with the sunlight. His eyes have fully adjusted now. Fully able to see the figure that is at the edge of the pool. He was annoying hot. Stunning face. High cheek bones, a sharp jawline slightly hidden by dark, waves that were just a little long. Like it hasn't been cut in awhile. Squared framed glasses sat atop a slender nose.

Hyuntak's breath hitched when their eyes met.

As he unconditionally bit his lip, the man chuckled again while standing up fully. Hyuntak's eyes followed his body all the way up. Lingering on the little mid drift of skin that showed when the man stretched to his full height. Hyuntak's eyes drifted up slowy to the mans face, eyes locking with his. The heat in Hyuntak's face had reach up to his ears. He sheepishly looked away from the mans gaze. Suddenly feeling blissfully aware of his own body, feeling small under this mans gaze. A click of a tongue dragged his eyes back to the mans presence.

"hmmm, feeling shy pretty boy?" the man said with another low, velvety chuckle.

Seemingly shaking himself out of the mans trance Hyuntak gains his normal bark back. "I'm asuming your Baekjin's friend." Hyuntak said with the most deadpan voice he called muster while trying to still his rising heartbeat.

A low hum came from the mans mouth. "Keum Seougje"
