Work Text:

Pyro leaves his room from inside the castle, Still unbelievably tired. But conscious enough to function, he quietly watches Owen, Shelby, and Scott all have a conversation down at the bottom area of the castle. Every now and then, a faint laugh and or joke was made, just loud enough for him to actually hear, Pyro watches them talking, laughing and making jokes without him. Like they completely forgot about him & didn't even think to check in on if he's awake or not, Pyro is tired. In more ways than one.

Pyro wonders what everything would be like if he never followed Scott & Owen into the forest. Would the town's members actually see him as human instead of some monster? Would Shelby still be alive? Would Cleo still be alive?. Is this all his fault?.

Who would've been the victim if not himself? Did he protect someone else from suffering through this endless fate? Do the town's members hate him?,
All the different possibilities play through Pyro's head, he turns away from watching everyone else for a moment, Not being able to bear the sight of them, He ends up heading back to his room.

Pyro begins to spiral, thinking about every possible outcome that could've happened if he'd just been a bit more aware, if maybe he actually believed there was something more going on, if he'd just been a bit more sceptical instead of following Owen & Scott at night in a whim, with no hesitation whatsoever.

Pyro begins silently sobbing. Letting all his thoughts consume him, burying himself into believing it's all his fault, that he should've just known & done something about it instead of just failing to escape like a pathetic being. Maybe then it would've all been fine, Maybe then, if he just properly escaped, Shelby, Cleo, Avid, Himself. would've all been human still.

He knows it's not entirely his fault, surely it would've eventually come, But he can't help but blame himself for not being able to at least delay it for a bit, Not being able to do something. Anything at all that would've let them all have their freedom again, Let them all be free instead of having to live forever, With all their guilt, sorrows, and biggest mistakes just lurking behind them at every moment—

Pyro's thoughts get cut off by the sound of knocking on his bedroom door, He wipes his tears, noticing they're… red? Instead of the usual clear… Whatever. No time for questioning that right now.

“...W-who's there.”
Pyro stutters on his speech due to his previous sobbing, His tone makes it a little obvious he's been crying.

“Scott, checking if you're awake yet, since you haven't come downstairs & Shelby got worried.”
It takes a good few seconds for pyro to reply.
“...If Shelby was worried, why didn't she come see me instead of you?”
Pyro can hear Scott let out a soft sigh, He probably knew pyro was gonna ask that.
“Not important.”
“...Can I come inside your room– or are we just gonna be talking through the door?.”

Scott sounds slightly irritated at him, making Pyro slightly on edge & a little bit scared.
“...Sure”
Pyro responds with a hesitant tone.

Scott opens the door, walking inside Pyro's room, shortly after, he takes a seat right next to Pyro, sitting in silence for a short amount of time before breaking it.
“What happened...”
Said Scott, staring directly at pyro, who based on his appearance, has obviously been crying over something.
“I don't need your pity, I'm fine, Sire. It doesn't matter much I swear, just been…”
Pyro looks away from Scott, thinking whether he should continue his sentence or not.
“Overthinking, Is all. I'm fine, I promise. I don't need you to feel bad for me or worry at all.”
“I don't deserve it.” Pyro whispers that last bit, just loud enough for Scott to pick up on it & hear it.

Neither of them say anything for a moment, letting the silence fill the room. It's a bit calming for pyro. Just knowing someone's there, that someone just anyone cares, even if it's the one who dragged him into this immortal life, it's still nice, feeling at least a little bit seen.
Scott breaks the silence after a while.
“If you don't want my ‘pity’, I suppose I can just be here with you if you'd like. Sitting next to you is also fine, You don't need to speak about whatever it is you're thinking about up there.”
Scott notices pyro has a small, Yet sincere smile on his face, Just barely noticeable.
Scott knows he appreciates him being here. Even if it's just in silence.

Pyro rests his body against Scott,
“...Do you ever think how different your life would be if you hadn't done one small simple thing?, how that one small mess up you did, if you would've just avoided it, it'd change ur outcome?.”
“I always wonder if this was all inevitable, or if I could've changed the fact that Shelby & Cleo were turned if I'd just not followed you and Owen into the forest.”

“... Pyro, You are aware this is not your fault whatsoever.”
“Right?.”
Pyro glances up at Scott.

“Yes, you did turn Shelby & Cleo, But they were gonna be turned by me either way. You just stole the credits.”
“It is barely your fault whatsoever, Those 2 were completely inevitable to happen.”
“Its not good for you to believe that the entirety of this is all your fault. Me and Owen were bound to either turn or kill everyone eventually.”

Pyro smiles to himself, Scott's able to tell how much he appreciated the words, & admires the sight before the silence was broken again.
Pyro moves his position from leaning on Scott to completely cuddling with him at this point, Scott holds Pyro close, keeping them both entwined & together.

“Sire?”
Scott looks down at Pyro in response, waiting for whatever it is he'd like to ask.
“Was I always bound to be the first you'd turn? Was I always just an— easy prey in ur eyes. Waiting to be hunted down and used as food.”
Scott is a little bit taken aback by the question, questioning to himself whether he should give him an actual awnser or not.
“Be honest. Please..?”

“Hm,”
“You were intriguing to me. I somewhat enjoyed your company, Enough to keep you around with me forever & give you the gift of vampirism.”
“Yes, I did see you as a food source before I properly knew you & no, you were not planned to be the first one I'd turn, considering Owen was also there & I thought I'd be able to get him also.”
“It was whoever was willing to follow me really.”

Pyro doesn't know whether that made him feel better, or worse. He's glad that he delayed anyone else being turned due to him being the first, but he doesn't really know how to feel about being seen as a food source in the past. Just purely a blood bag for Scott's own pleasure & cravings.

After a long moment of silence, Scott pushes Pyro's hair behind his ear, taking a moment to look down at the resting fledgling in his lap.
Instinctively. Scott starts gently caressing Pyro's neck. Slowly moving up to his head, playing with his hair.

Pyro moves from on top of Scott, looking at him now instead of laying on top of him.

“You are so adorable.”
Scott cups Pyro's face with his right hand, pulling Pyro closer & back on top of him. Their faces almost touching,
Pyro gets flustered from the proximity of how close they are. Despite being dead, he feels so warm when in Scott's arms. It almost feels like he's alive again, like he's a human again—

Pyro's thoughts were cut off by a warm embrace, He looked In front of him, realizing that Scott pulled him into a kiss. Pyro wraps his arms around Scott, pulling himself closer, & closing the gap between the two.
Scott bites Pyro's lip, not enough to break skin, but enough to send a sign of what he wants.
Scott slips his tongue inside Pyro's mouth.

Eventually, they break the kiss.
Scott notices Pyro's expression. Desperation.
Pyro tugs on Scott's shirt to imply what he wants, he wants more. More than just a kiss, he wants to feel all the warmth of Scott. Every last bit. He wants to feel warm, especially by the hands of his own sire.

“Don't get too eager now. Fledgling. We have things to attend to today.”
Pyro rolls his eyes, letting out a soft defeated sigh. Scott was right, they do have stuff to do. He can't just stay in his room all day…
“Apologies, sire…”
“...One last kiss before we go help the others & get on with today..? Please?”

Scott smirks, it's cute to him to see how desperate this one can get. How much he follows him & worships him like a little puppy. It's endearing.
Scott doesn't like his lying streak, but. He's sure pyro wouldn't try betraying now. Considering he has one last chance before permanent death caused by Scott & Owen,

Either way, he fulfills Pyro's request. They embrace one last kiss before departing to be with the other vampires to actually be productive.
