In The Shade of Spring Blossoms [Time Travel! AU] | Silver Vanrouge

Summary:

Silver Vanrouge x Fem! Artist! Yuu

Spring is finally here! Silver and Yuu go on a picnic date in a forested area covered in flowers, from the forest floor to the trees. As Yuu relishes in the view, Silver lives in the moment, savoring every single bit of her smile in a way he’s never done before. He’s always cherished her, and that will never change— even if he has to start their relationship right from the very beginning.

Or: Silver and Yuu go on a date, and they make out in a field full of flowers and flowering trees.

Notes:

Yes. Another time travel au thing. I should seriously make a post about that, it’s an idea I’ve been playing with for a while now. If you can’t tell yet, I’m actually the type of person who daydreams more than she writes….

Work Text:

“This is a really nice spot!”

The young lady smiled as she watched the flowers on the trees sway gently to the rhythm of the wind.

The weather that day was pristine, not a single cloud revealed itself in the cerulean sky.

“No one’s here either,” Silver gazed at the girl gently as he held a cooler in one hand and a basket in the other, “the location is hidden well enough from prying eyes. No one will find us here.”

“It feels like a secret picnic date,” Yuu beamed. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d have thought you were trying to hide me from the world.”

Silver could only smile at her. Honestly, what she said wasn’t too far from the truth.

For this one day, he wanted all her attention for himself— he immediately erased that from his mind, though, before it turned into something…dangerous.

Without wasting any time, Yuu immediately began to unfold the picnic blanket she had been carrying. It fluttered in the air before gently lowering itself over the grass. She was glad that she bought a particularly large blanket, which was spacious enough for the two of them to lie down on.

Silver then placed the basket and the cooler down. He offered to carry it after seeing Yuu struggling with it when they met up, it wasn’t even the only thing she was carrying as she also had a messenger bag over her shoulder. Knowing her, she must have packed some drawing materials and a sketchbook with her.

It was something she started doing when they began dating. She bought a special sketchbook that she brought along during their dates, whether it was a simple date or not. Before the end of every date, she would invite him to draw with her, and she’d mark that page (or pages, depending on how much they drew) with their signatures and the day of their date, as well as a description of where they went. Lately, though, she would tape photos of their date on those pages, careful not to cover their doodles.

That was another thing that hadn’t changed about her.

“The basket’s really heavy,” he remarked.

“Of course! You said we were going somewhere special, so I made sure to make food fitting for the occasion,” She explained, “I tried so hard to make sure Grim wasn’t around to find these, though; he’s got a really sharp nose.”

“I could imagine,” they settled themselves on the picnic blanket as Yuu opened the basket. She truly wasn’t exaggerating when she said she packed quite a feast. The first thing she brought out was a couple of baguette sandwiches neatly packed.

“I made some baguettes yesterday,” she said as she unwrapped the sandwiches carefully before settling them aesthetically on a large white plate, “I made sure the ingredients are fresh, too!“

“They smell amazing,” he smiled softly as he gazed proudly at the sandwiches.

She then pulled out a smaller basket container full of fruits, mainly blueberries, grapes, and strawberries. She arranged them right next to the sandwiches.

“What do I do with these?” Silver asked as he pulled out two mason jars and blue striped straws from the basket. Yuu told him to place them on top of the coasters she had prepared with them before opening the cooler.

From the cooler, she pulled a large airtight glass pitcher filled with yellow golden liquid and some ice. She placed some ice cubes and lime slices into the mason jars before pouring the golden liquid into them.

“I made this earlier this morning from fresh lemons and limes. I added a little bit of honey, too! Oh, and just in case you aren’t feeling up to it, I made sure to pack some water.”

Silver nodded as he admired the lemonade in silence.

Yuu then pulled out another box from the basket, and upon opening it, revealed two servings of custard pudding finished with whipped cream and a strawberry on top.

“When we were planning this picnic, I had three desserts in mind, but I decided to go with custard pudding. I hope that’s okay,” She said.

“They look wonderful. I’d eat anything from you, regardless of what it is,” he reassured her.

His lovely lady giggled, “I bet you would, considering the kind of food you grew up with. Oh! I also packed some homemade ice cream in the cooler. Let’s keep it in there for now so it doesn’t melt.”

Silver admired the spread of food and drinks before him. They were all so perfectly made— a testament to her dedication and love. Just looking at them was enough to fill his heart with joy, as if everything he had suffered through in the past timeline had been nothing but a distant dream.

It was incredible… the power she had over him. How simple actions such as this made him feel like he could conquer any adversity that came his way.

“Before we eat…”

Yuu looked up at Silver as he conjured up something in his hands. A gasp left her lips when she saw the delicate bouquet of daisies in his hands. He handed them to her with a gentle smile.

“These are for you. I hope you like them.”

“Oh, Silver!” She beamed as she welcomed the flowers into her arms, their scent wafting into her nose like perfume. She happily kissed his cheek and nuzzled into his shoulder.

“Thank you so much! I love them a lot! They’re so pretty…”

“I’m glad...” Her smile was like sunshine, warm and inviting. He hoped deep in his heart that she would never lose that smile again.

“Well then,” she settled the bouquet down inside the ornate picnic basket, “Bon Appétit!”

. . . . .

. . . .

. . .

. .

“Finished!”

Silver popped a blueberry into his mouth as Yuu exclaimed with a grin.

“It’s a bit simple but…” She turned her sketchpad to face him. A wave of emotion surged in his heart when he saw the picture on it: it was a drawing of him eating a strawberry as he admired the flowers.

For a simple drawing, it was incredibly detailed and delicately drawn.

Silver smiled at her, “It’s very beautiful, as always. It’s rather detailed for a sketch, though, isn’t it?”

“I got carried away…” she stared down at her work, staring at Silver’s face on it. “Ugh… I don’t even think I managed to capture how handsome you are…”

He tilted his head, “Oh? But it looks so perfect. I think you made me look too perfect, though…”

“That’s because you are!” She argued with a pout, “You’re literally one of the most handsome and princely beings I’ve ever met. I can’t even believe I’m dating you!”

He chuckled in amusement as he leaned closer, taking a lock of her hair between his fingers and bringing it to his lips, “I should be saying that. You are so beautiful that I want to wake up to you every single day…”

Like I used to before you slipped away from me… He continued in his mind.

The cutest shade of pink spread across her face as he kissed her cheek.

“…where did you learn to say things like that…?” She murmured.

He grinned, “Come closer, I want to hold you.”

She set down her art supplies before scooching closer to him until their shoulders touched. He carefully took one of the daisies from the bouquet in the basket and gently placed it behind her ear. He let his fingers caress her face, as though admiring a work of art.

It truly was a beautiful day outside, and such beauty was reflected in her eyes.

“I feel like I haven’t seen you in so long…” He said almost somberly, “Even though we see each other almost every day... I just keep missing you.”

The sincerity in his expression and his voice made her melt. She had no idea Silver had such a side to him.

She smiled shyly as she peered up at him behind long lashes, “…I feel the same way sometimes.”

Silver stared at her as she said those words. Was it even possible for a person to be even lovelier than she already was?

She kissed his cheek gently, but before she could completely pull away, he placed a hand on her soft cheek, pulling her back into a proper kiss.

Their lips molded into each other, once gentle, now turned passionate. When he could no longer bear the minimal distance between them, he suddenly carried her on his lap, causing her to gasp.

He quickly sealed her lips with another kiss, devouring her like it was the end of the world…again

It was a good thing that he chose a remote spot for their date today. He no longer cared if what they were doing was starting to look indecent. Every fiber of his being screamed for her; it longed to hold her in his arms until she was the only one left in his periphery.

Was it really possible to love someone this much? Even after all those past years?

His lips then trailed to her jaw, where he planted desperate little kisses. She tugged on his shirt, whispering for him to slow down.

“Silver…” she struggled to breathe due to the weight of his affection, “S-slow down.”

“I—” he planted a kiss on her collarbone, “—Can’t. You’re so lovely.”

“I’m not going…anywhere…” she whimpered.

“I’m sorry,” he buried his face into her neck, taking in the refreshing scent of her perfume. “It’s been…getting a little difficult to control myself lately. I really do hate being apart from you, even for a few hours…”

“Silver…”

Gods… just hearing her say his name was enough to drive him insane.

“I’m really sorry,” His hold around her waist tightened slightly. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his eyes gazing down at the zipper on her back.

The dress she wore today was perfect on her. It was a lovely light blue dress adorned with floral lace and embroidery, with the neckline dipping just low enough to tease him. Her skin was soft and tempting, and Silver felt like he really had to control himself to keep from ripping such a darling dress from her body.

“Stop apologizing, dear,” She said, oblivious to his internal struggles, “I understand how you feel.”

“Are you disappointed?” He asked as he looked up at her, hoping to distract himself from his wicked thoughts.

She let her arms hang loosely around his neck as she tilted her head curiously, “Disappointed about what?”

“With me,” He answered.

“Why would I be disappointed in you?”

“I heard that it’s not good for a partner to be so clingy…”

She smirked, “You know I really don’t mind. In fact, I love seeing this side of you. You’re normally so composed…”

“You bring out a lot of things in me that I prefer to keep hidden.”

“Oh?”

He leaned closer, letting his lips brush against hers.

“Is that a bad thing?” She asked.

“No,” He said almost breathlessly, her body shuffling closer to him on his lap, “In fact… I won’t complain if you were the cause of my ruin.”

The next thing she knew, he had laid her down on the blanket with his body hovering over hers. He placed a leg between hers, using his knee to hike up her skirt to her upper thighs. She inhaled sharply at the sudden breeze she felt on her skin.

“As long as it’s you, I won’t complain if you tear me apart from within.”

Silver gazed at her sleeping face with quiet affection as he lay on his side right next to her.

After their picnic, they decided to stay at a nearby hotel, where they spent most of the night ravishing her with his love.

Well, it was mostly his fault.

His eyes trailed down to her skin; there were visible marks on her neck, and even lower, on her collarbones…

A smirk rose from his lips as he raised the blanket to cover her chest, concealing more marks from his view. As much as he wanted to admire her, he was afraid that she might get cold.

She shifted slightly in her slip, nuzzling closer to his warmth. Silver smiled at this gesture, for it was a sign that she was still breathing— living— and very much with him.

He wrapped his arms around her to feel more of her and pressed his chest against hers to feel her heartbeat.

There had been a time in the past when his fears came true. When her heart stopped beating, and her skin grew cold. Her eyes never opened again, and she was torn away from him…

It was still vivid in his mind, those days when he had to live without hearing the ring of her laughter or watching her hands curl around a bouquet of flowers he got her. Days when he could no longer share kisses or memories with her, or even dream of a future when their family would grow.

He didn’t even get to marry her…

Those memories burned like hellfire in his mind.

“Hmm…Sil..ver…”

The sound of her voice snapped him out of his reverie. He looked down as she started murmuring in her sleep.

He huffed in amusement, and all at once, the dark days he had just been thinking of vanished from his mind.

She was here now, in his arms. Lovely, warm… alive…and breathing…

And…

And he…was going to keep it that way.

He was given a second chance to save her— to keep the heart that he loved so much alive.

“I won’t lose you again, not ever…” He whispered to her as she dreamed.

“…I promise.”
