Work Text:

The elevator doors slid shut with a metallic groan, trapping Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair in the cramped space. Enid bounced lightly on her toes, humming some upbeat pop tune under her breath. Wednesday already looked ready to commit homicide.

“This is why I prefer stairs,” Wednesday muttered, arms crossed, posture stiff and annoyed.

The werewolf grinned. “Yeah, well, some of us have functioning knees and don’t wanna climb five flights after fencing practice.”

Before The annoyed raven could deliver a bitter retort, the elevator lurched violently, lights flickering. Enid yelped and grabbed the railing, and the whole thing shuddered to a sudden stop midway between floors. The emergency lights switched on, bathing them in an eerie red glow.

Enid’s voice trembled, “...Tell me that was just a normal stop.”

Wednesday pressed the emergency button. Silence. Then a faint static-filled voice: “We’re aware of the malfunction. Sit tight.” And then nothing.

Enid slid down the elevator wall, hugging her knees. “I-I’m kinda… not great with small spaces.”
Wednesday blinked, surprised. “Claustrophobic?”

“N-Not usually! Just…” The werewolf squeezed her eyes shut. “When it’s dark and closed and we’re stuck and—” Without thinking, Wednesday sat down beside her, close enough that their shoulders brushed. The warmth from Wednesday’s body startled Enid into looking up.

“You’re hyperventilating. Breathe slower or you’ll faint, even though I am dreading to see you faint. Its a fascinating sight.” Wednesday said matter-of-factly, but her voice was softer than usual.

Enid stared at her, wide-eyed. “You’re… kinda comforting right now. Well- Not really, but thanks for trying..”

“That’s concerning,” Wednesday replied, though her tone held no bite… The raven hums.. “Look at me. Inhale slowly. Like this.” She demonstrated, steady and controlled.

Enid mirrored her breathing until her panic began to fade. Silence settled between them, thick but oddly gentle.

After a minute, Enid laughed quietly. “You know, for someone who claims to hate feelings, you’re weirdly good at dealing with mine.”

“I don’t hate feelings,” The psychic said. “I simply find them… Useless.” Enid nudged her with her shoulder, smiling. “You’re sweet. In an emo, depressing way.” Wednesday looked away, but the faintest blush rose on her cheeks. “Stop talking.”
They sat like that for a while—close, almost touching, breaths matching. The elevator hummed as if waking up, but still didn’t move. Enid tilted her head, studying Wednesday’s face. “Hey… can I say something without you threatening to decapitate me?”

“No promises.” Wednesday counters.

The blonde hesitated, then whispered, “I’m really glad you’re here. With me. I don’t think I would’ve made it through that little panic attack alone.”

Wednesday turned to her, expression unreadable. “You would have. You’re stronger than you think.” Despite the icy tone, she was actually thinking of 25 ways to kill herself right now… Oh how embarrassing.

Enid’s breath hitched. Their faces were inches apart now—close enough to feel each other’s breath.

“Wednesday…?” Enid asked softly..

“Yes?”

“Can I…?”

“Can you-?” Before Wednesday could continue that question Enid leaned in, slowly, giving her every chance to pull back. Wednesday’s eyes widened, unexpected? Sure, but she wasn’t complaining. Her eyes fluttered shut. As their lips met… A bit tentative at first, then deeper, warmer, like they’d both been waiting without realizing it. Enid’s hand slid up to Wednesday’s cheek.. The Addams girl’s fingers curled into The blonde girl’s hoodie, pulling her closer.

Their lips moved in sync.. Messy and desperate, like they had both been pretending not to want this for far too long. Enid let out a small sound in the back of her throat, surprised by how fiercely Wednesday kissed back, like she had been holding herself together her whole life and finally let go.. Yet again, none of the girls were complaining.

Enid shifted closer, practically climbing into Wednesday’s lap just to erase every inch of space.

Wednesday’s other hand slid up the back of the werewolf’s neck, fingers tangling gently in her hair, guiding the kiss deeper. Enid’s heart raced. the warmth, the pressure, the way Wednesday’s lips molded against hers.. it was.. Quite overwhelming and exciting for the blonde girl…

They only broke apart for air for a second, foreheads touching, breaths tangled
“Woah…” Enid whispered, voice shaky and breathless…

Wednesday didn’t answer; instead, she leaned back in, capturing Enid’s mouth again—slower this time, intentional.. Enid’s hands trembled as they slid down to Wednesday’s waist, pulling her closer until there was no distinction between where one ended and the other began.

As they pull away, a strand of saliva still connects their mouths.. Oh shit-

A red faint of blush spreads through Wednesday’s cheek, wow.. Did she really just make out with her roommate??? What was she thinking damnit?!?!

Thank god they stopped though, that's for sure. Enid was sure she could feel a little tingly feeling in her lower abdomen, and she was definitely sure that if they continued, that tingly feeling would spread more..

When the elevator jerked back to life and started moving again, the werewolf immediately jumped off the black haired girl’s lap, flustered and a slight hint of disbelief..

The werewolf’s cheeks were blazing red. “Okay.. uh” Enid lets out a fake cough “so that happened..” she laughed weakly and awkwardly.

Wednesday attempted to compose herself, straightening her collar, voice just barely steady. “We will not discuss this.” …. Clears throat “Ever. Again.”

“Totally! Sure thing! Absolutely! Yes, yes, yes, yep yep, yea yea, never again!” Enid rambled.

Wednesday sighed in both annoyance and embarrassment, still feeling a bit off-guard of what just happened between them.

As they stepped out of the elevator with their hands brushing. Deliberately? Not sure, Either way neither of them are pulling away.

“So.. That was something”

Both girls froze.

Wednesday turned slowly, expression turning from flustered to murderous in two seconds flat. There, standing perfectly still in the corner, was Agnes Demillie. And apparently, she had been in the elevator the entire time.

Agnes blinked twice, deadpan.
Enid made a noise that could only be described as what a dying rat would sound like..
“AGNES—HOW LONG WERE YOU— I— WHY THE FUCK DIDN’T YOU SAY ANYTHING?!”

Agnes shrugged, completely calm. “You two were having a moment. I wasn’t going to interrupt.”

Wednesday’s eye twitched. ”You didn’t record us with your little.. Camera.. Right?” Sternly as ever.

Agnes rubs her neck sheepishly “Oh, um..”

Wednesday looked physically ready to commit a double homicide and then herself. Enid wanted to climb into the floor and disappear.

“DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE LEAK THAT OKAY?! YOU-YOU- ARGH!!” The werewolf covered her face with both her hands, feeling more than flustered and embarrassed.

“Geez.. Okay I won’t.. I’m not deleting it though. This could come in handy as some blackmail.” The vanisher smirked.

NO DELETE IT, NOW..” Enid snarled..

Wednesday darkened.. “Agnes.”

The ginger lets out a scared whimper.. “R-Right, sorry Wednesday..”

“Forget what you saw,” Wednesday commanded.

Agnes took a deep breath and puts back her annoyingly terrifying smile.. She squinted. “Oh yeah, because that’s super easy”

Wednesday considered digging a hole and burying herself alive at this point.

Agnes backed away dramatically, pointing at them with shaky fingers. “I am taking this to my grave. But just so you know… the sexual tension was worse than the power outage”

Wednesday’s voice dropped to her lowest death threat register. “If you tell a single soul, I will personally remove your spine and use it to conduct an orchestra in front of millions..”

Agnes just smiled. “Gothic romance. Love it. Bye!” And she walked off like she didn’t just witness the most insane moment of Wednesday’s life. The silence that followed was so suffocating it almost felt like they were back in the elevator. Wednesday facepalmed. Hard.

“So,” Enid whispered, barely a sound, “we’re just… okay now?”

Wednesday didn’t turn, but her voice was softer than usual. “You handled yourself well. Considering the circumstances.”

“That’s.. Um- thanks,” Enid said, heart doing somersaults. They reached the part of the hallway where they’d usually turn toward their shared dorm room. Wednesday paused, glancing back.. The tiniest flicker of something vulnerable in her eyes.

Enid panicked. “I- I’m gonna go check on Yoko!” she blurted out. Too loud. Way too loud.

Wednesday blinked. “At this hour?”
“I just-I gotta!” Enid squeaked. “Yoko stuff! Super urgent!”

Before Wednesday could ask anything else, Enid spun on her heel and bolted down the hallway like a rainbow-colored rocket.
Wednesday watched her run, lips pressed together.. Expression unreadable.
