Work Text:
It was late at night in castle town, and everyone was asleep. Except for you. You wish you could sleep, but you couldn't due to two certain fears you have bothering you, namely the fear of death and the fear of eternity. You just couldn't sleep, couldn't relax tonight knowing that one day you'll breathe your last breath and then be dead and gone. forever. and ever. and ever and-
you jolt up in bed. and then decide to get out of it.
still not calm still not oh god oh god one day one day youll be gone for good for ever and ever and-
you put on your shoes. You try to quietly leave your room and close the door as quietly as possible. Somehow you succeed. Good, you don't want anyone seeing you like this.
You leave the castle. No point staying.
The cold night air, for a moment, distracts you.
but only for a moment.
The panic immediately sets right back in, and you end up pacing back in forth for a while, then moving down to the area where the shops are in hopes the change in senery will calm you. It doesn't. Nothing does. Good no ones here to see you, you looked panicked out of your mind. But one day you'll be dead forever and ever and it wont matter and-
"Who's out there?" you hear a calm, old sounding voice say. it's Seam.
You turn to face him, trying to do your best fake smile "i-its ju-just me! i'm fine! im- dont worry!" your stuttering *definitely* gave away something was wrong.
"No use in lying to me. I've been around long enough to tell when there's clearly something wrong with someone. Now, I can't force you to do anything, but maybe you should come over to my seap. At the very least if I brew you some tea it might help. But it doesn't matter in the end, so do whatever you please."
You flinched at that last sentence. But maybe Seam's right, maybe it'd help. maybe.
you walk in and seam pulls out a chair for you to sit on.
"What type of tea do you want, if any?"
"(your answer)"
"Okay." Seam started brewing you your tea, and after a minute or so starts speaking again.
"Now, what seems to be the matter, if you'd like to tell?"
"...I just...have a really big fear of the fact that were all gonna die one day, and were all gonna be dead forever and- and oh god oh god oh god no no no no-
you shoot up out of your chair and Seam puts a hand on your shoulder to calm you down. You sit back down but look visibly shaken up.
"This is a big fear of yours, I can tell. Well, there really is no avoiding such a thing, now is there? It makes sense you'd fear it. But, you are still alive right now, are you not?"
"R-right..."
"So even if that time will come, it is not now, and you still have plenty of time to come to terms with it. All that can be done is to accept that it will happen, and not let it ruin the time you have now."
"T-thanks, Seam...that helped...n-not entirely though..."
"That makes sense. It might take a while to come to terms with it, but you will one day."
You then spend the next few minutes sitting with Seam in silence as you finish your tea.
"Well, i have to leave now, I need to go to bed. o-or atleast, try to"
"See you again someday...or not"
You then left and went back to your room in castle town.
you still had a couple moments afterwards of being sent into panic, but remembering Seam's words helped calm you down.
Eventually, after around an hour, you finally fell asleep.
