Work Text:

Alastor glanced around the broken buildings and remains, Charlie and the rest had headed back to the hotel hours ago but Alastor was still there in the middle of the destroyed streets, where the destruction of Vox's machine had taken place. It had been a good few hours but he was overall pleased with what he'd managed to scavenge from the mostly evacuated area.

So far he'd gathered some slightly broken angelic weapons, some wires and a sheet of unbroken angel proof glass from where Lucifer had been held. Deciding that he was satisfied with what he'd found, Alastor summoned his voodoo dolls, who along with his shadow, took hold of his new possessions and did the heavy work of carrying them back towards his radio tower.

His grin wide, Alastor walked after them, only pausing in surprise when he heard Lucifer's voice, "Charlie, where are you?".

Alastor glanced around, trying to discern where the voice was coming from, it sounded slightly off in a monotone way.

"Charlie?".

Alastor left his shadow and voodoo dolls to move his new found possessions for him and followed the voice, wondering if Vox was really pathetic enough so quickly again try the same voice imitating trick that had worked on that stupid king- It *was* him!

Alastor paused, his head tilting slightly at the strange scene, Lucifer was sat on a mud covered cobblestone floor, at the end of a smashed up brick alley. The right hand side of his body leant heavily against a dirty wall as he stared off vacantly at a broken brick wall.

Mildly entertained by the oddness of the situation, Alastor strode over to get a better look at the diminutive king, "Downsizing to a room more fitting to your stature, 'your majesty'?", Alastor leered.

Not taking the bait, Lucifer continued to stare off, "Is Charlie Okay?".

Alastor rolled his eyes, "Yes, yes, she's fine. Why are you sitting in the mud? Seems a strange place to find 'royalty'".

Lucifer blinked but otherwise didn't move, "Is Charlie okay?".

Alastor rolled his eyes in annoyance, "You already asked and I already answere-"

"Where's Charlie?", Lucifer interrupted.

Alastor glowered, what kind of stupid game was this?! Bending over the King, Alastor spoke to him like he was a particularly stupid child, "She. And. The. Other. Sinners. Went. Back. To. The. Hotel! ARE YOU GOING DEAF IN YOUR OLD AGE?!".

"Where's Charlie?", Lucifer continued to repeat, "Is Charlie Okay?", "Where's Charlie?".

Becoming more confused, than annoyed, Alastor stepped a bit closer and waved a hand in front of Lucifers face, the king continued to look ahead with glassy eyes and didn't respond. Alastor tilted his head and curiously reached forward, clicking his fingers at the side of the Kings left ear. Blinking, Lucifer glanced towards the sound, for the first time revealing the right hand side of his face to Alastor.

Suddenly everything made sense.

Lucifer's right eye was heavily dilated and the right hand side of his head was cut up and covered in golden blood. The best Alastor could guess was that at some point during or after his escape, something had hit him and he'd become disorientated and lost in the chaos.

The king glanced back at the wall and continued to ask about Charlie. Alastor sighed, irritably, he couldn't just leave the king there, he might not care about Lucifer but he didn't really want to see him dead, not yet at least.

"Can you stand?", Alastor asked, reaching out and pulling Lucifer up by the shoulders. "Is Charlie ok?", Lucifer responded confusedly, as he was lifted to stand, wobbing slightly and then immediately attempting to walk into a wall. Not being particularly gentle, Alastor grabbed him by the back of the shirt and steered him away.

"Where's Charlie?".

Rolling his eyes, Alastor held Lucifer restrained against a still standing brick wall with one hand and grabbed his own rarely used phone with his other hand to contact the King's daughter.

"Hello?", Charlie answered.

"You wouldn't happen to be missing something would you?", Alastor answered, letting go of Lucifer and glaring irritably at the hated but sometime necessary device which was his phone.

"Um, no I don't think so".

"You sure? Blonde hair, pointy teeth, about 5 foot nothing? Extremely irritating? Loooooves ducks-". Alastor's eyes widened as he glanced back to look at Lucifer and realised he'd wondered off. Still clutching the phone to his ear, Alastor whirled around in a circle, managing to catch a glimpse of the confused king as he aimlessly rounded a corner of a broken brick wall, Alastor ran to catch up to him.

"Oh, Dad? I think he went home".

"No", Alastor responded with a grunt, managing to grab Lucifer's shoulder to stop the king in his tracks, "I have him". Alastor attempted to steer Lucifer the other way, he suddenly dead legged and landed in Alastor's arms, Alastor glared and resisted the urge to just let Lucifer drop to the floor. "Could you just be a dear and collect him Charlie please? Despite his diminutive manner he is- Surprisingly heavy!".

"What do you mean heavy? Are you two fighting again?".

"No, I found him in the debris, he keeps spouting nonsense, I believe he may be concussed- he's got a wound on the side of his head". Alastor awkwardly altered his grip on Lucifer who suddenly attempted to make a grab for Alastor's ears as he continued to dissociatively ask about his daughter.

Alastor's ears pulled back as he glared down irritably at the despondent king, "Could you 'just' come and get him?".

"There's a lot going on at the hotel right now, are you ok just to drop him off at his house instead of the hotel?"

Alastor loosened his grip on Lucifer in utter disbelief, "I'm not a taxi service! Also he's concussed shouldn't you-".

"Oh, dad gets hurt all the time, trust me he's fine, just get him to his house, he has some servants that will sort him out. I've got to go now, thanks Alastor, you really are the best! I'll owe you something, just not like a deal this time ok? Bye!".

Charlie hung up and Alastor stared at the phone in disbelief-

"Is Charlie ok?".

No longer restrained by the radio demon, Lucifer once again reached out blindly and grasped at one of Alastor's ears, Alastor flinched and grabbed both of the Kings wrists, pulling him closer and glaring into the Lucifer's glassy eyes, "You don't know how 'lucky' you are that I don't just leave you here!".

Without his shadow or voodoo dolls there was no other choice, Alastor glanced around himself to make sure no one was watching, before grabbing the short king around the torso and hoisting him awkwardly over his shoulder.

"Where's Charlie?", Lucifer despondently asked again. The radio demon did his best to ignore the idiot king and picked his way awkwardly across the destroyed street- there may not have been a deal made but they definitely both owed him big after this was done.
