Vickie was working at the hospital when Robin showed up and told her the news. She was kind of angry at Robin for cancelling their date, again. It happened regularly, and she never explained why, which was a bit suspect for Vickie, but she chose to ignore it as she was madly in love with Robin. But this time, she reschedule the date, and made a reservation at Enzo’s, one of the best restaurant (and the most expensive) of Hawkins. Well, she wasn’t going to complain as Robin said she was going to pay.
“I’ve got enough money to take us there, it will not ruin me. And maybe after this, I can take you to mine, and I could see you in this hat and only this hat ?” says Robin charmingly.
Vickie giggles at what her girlfriend said, “I hate you”, she says, still smiling ear to ear. Robin proceeds to kiss her, as they are still in a vacant room of the hospital, where they can get caught at any moment.
“So tomorrow, 8 pm, is that okay for you ?” questions Robin, as she withdraw from their sweet kiss.
“Absolutely, my shift finishes at 6 or 7 so that’s all good.”
“Can’t wait, I guess I’m gonna let you work, cause I’ve got things to do too” She says trying to flatter herself, while holding her lovers waist, and going for a kiss again.
“Oh yes of course I forgot you were so bu-”
They move away from each other as they are both surprised by a loud noise in front of the door of the room they were in. Robin sees someone running and she tries to see who it can be. They both rush to the door which was slightly open.
“Shit, this person saw us, they even dropped their coke.” says Vickie
“I think I know who that was but I’m not sure. Don’t worry about that I will solve this problem since I am the best at it.”
Robin doesn’t even kiss her goodbye and leaves. She doesn’t want their relationship to be revealed, neither their sexuality. She only told Steve about this, and isn’t planning to tell anyone else. But one thing is that she is almost certain of, is that this was Will, she could recognise that bowl cut from miles away.
She is now roaming in the corridors of this seemingly infinite hospital, and doesn’t have any clue of where this mysterious-not so mysterious person could be.
After 5 minutes of walking, she eventually give up as she needs to be at the Squawk, because she got to host the people’s favourite Hawkins radio, with her bestfriend Steve. She was really happy to have this job. It’s a lot of fun for her, she get to be with Steve ! Just like her 2 previous jobs.
She’s so happy to be with Vickie, she is the love of her life. She thinks daily about their first moments together and how they were so awkward and obvious. She will always remember the first time that they hold hand. They were at Vickie’s watching The Breakfast Club, movie that Robin chose as she was working at Family Video, so she could pick VHS for free. They were in Vickie’s bed and, as the movie went by, they got closer and closer until their body touch, and that’s when Vickie took her hand. This moment is everything for her.
Steve is picking her up soon to go to work. Robin is in front of the hospital and Steve honks, why change such good habits ? When she gets into the car, Steve says “I guess you weren’t in there for Maxine” with a big smile on his face.
“Oh wow thank you for this stroke of genius Hairrington !”
“So I am right, as always.” whilst he starts the car
“Shut up you smart-ass, someone caught us”
“Shit, how is this possible ?”
“Well we were in a room alone and we were kissing and-” she says,
“Gross!” he interrupts, to make fun of Robin
“Ah-ah, anyway the door was slightly open and I think the person who saw was Will…” she mumbles
“Will Byers ?” he proclaim, with a surprised tone
“Yes.” she says, while sinking into the car seat
“And what did he say ?”
“He ran away and I couldn’t catch him” she tells him, with an embarrassed tone
“Well that’s a reaction”
“You bet”
“I don’t think that’s too, maybe if you speak with him about it, or you never bring it up ever again”
“Yeah, I don’t know”
They don’t talk until they arrived at the Squawk. Robins says “I forgot to tell you that tomorrow I have a date with Vickie, at Enzo’s” while she unlocks the door of the radio station.
“Since when are you rich Buckley ?” Steve answers, walking beside Robin to get into the radio cabin.
“I have savings you know” she says proudly
Robin is exhausted as she fall into her bed. She really wants to see Vickie. She wants to kiss her, touch her, she wants to call her. But it’s already 11 PM, that wouldn’t be right. She thinks back of presumed Will seeing them kissing, she is scared that he’s going to tell someone. What if everyone knows their relationship ? But for now she can’t do anything. “Evening overthinking is hard” she mumbles to herself. She will just go to bed, hoping her lover would call her, she loves her so much, and that’s what happens. She was half asleep when the ringtone of the phone scared her. She never picked up the phone this fast. She heard a gentle and low voice, “Hey it’s me” Vickie says.
“Oh hi how are you” Robin answers barely awake.
“I’m great, it’s just that I really can’t wait until tomorrow, I needed to hear your voice.”
“That’s really cute” she says as she chuckles.
“Oh shut up” she answers, with a big smile, the kind of smile that Robin absolutely loves.
“I was thinking of you while falling asleep” She says to be honest.
“What were you thinking of ? Me with this little hat you like so much ?”, Vickie giggles saying that.
“Well, no, I was thinking of how much I miss you, but you gave me some ideas”
“You’re so sweet” she says with a sarcastic tone.
The call was now silent, just hearing each other breaths, and it was enough for them to be happy.
After 1 minute like that, Vickie said “I should let you sleep I know that you are tired, and I’m tired too so I think we should both go to sleep”
“You’re right, we’ll talk tomorrow. I love you, good night babe, and don’t forget your hat” she says softly to her beloved, and Vickie simply responded “I love you too” that was all they needed to hear to sleep well.
