Prosecutor charged with murder of defense attorney… 15 years after it happened

Prosecutor Manfred von Karma, who’d held a perfect win record for 40 years, was just charged with the murder of his mentee Miles Edgeworth’s father, Gregory Edgeworth.

When and how the killing took place and the whole trial read like a fever dream (link)

Is that a fucking parrot on the witness stand in the article thumbnail?

lol i thought i was tripping

          u/corgardeTruther    OP

Have you read the entire thing? The parrot turned out to be useless and they solved the crime by hoovering a metal detector over that von Karma guy’s shoulder. A bullet missing from the crime scene 15 years ago was there. Wtf???

u/useriwantedwastaken

The fuck is the defendant wearing lmao. He looks like a Victorian homosexual who’s just been diagnosed with the plague.

          u/uncoolgirl94

You point that out and not the defense attorney’s hair? Dude looks like Sonic the Hedgehog on crack

          u/thedarkage

that’s some gay shit right there

u/bored_borginian

so Wellington was charged with murder (naturally) but they didn’t add years to his sentence for another attempted murder? you know, hitting a lawyer in the head with a fire extinguisher? make it make sense

u/HereComesJustice

I want to be like Phoenix Wright when I’m older!!

          u/itsacoldcasebaby

You want to get hit with a fire extinguisher and have to defend a woman while you’re amnesiac when you’re older? Weird goals but ok, good luck to you lol

PHOENIX WRIGHT DISBARRED???

Today Phoenix Wright allegedly presented forged evidence in court and they took his badge and forbade him from practising (link). The junior Prosecutor, Klavier Gavin, pointed it out to the Judge after a message had been sent that same morning to the Prosecutor’s Office warning them about the forgery. I wonder who sent it?

Btw kinda off topic but little (fun?) fact: Gavin is also the vocalist of the new band The Gavinners besides working as a prosecutor! In fact, the other members are also lawyers or detectives (and their music is amazing if you ask me… <3)

ALSO! This is the user formerly known as u/corgardeTruther but obviously I no longer want to associate myself with Matt Engarde so allow me to introduce myself again to you guys. This is u/klavdarDefender here to gossip and fangirl ;)

Comments (70)     sort by Hot

u/idkdontask

yooo welcome back soldier. I also like The Gavinners!! Klavdar… Klavier Gavin x Daryan Crescend? hmm you know what I can get behind that ;)

& wtf Wright being disbarred for forging evidence is crazy, if somebody had to follow Manfred von Karma’s steps I’d expect it to be his daughter or Miles Edgeworth not him

u/uncoolgirl94

This I didn’t see coming at all. Doesn’t it all seem very suspicious? I mean, who sent the warning to the prosecutors, shouldn’t they investigate that in depth? Something doesn’t seem right. I’m not going to defend Wright to death because I don’t know him personally, I’m just saying maybe we don’t have all the facts?

          u/d4mning3vidence

idk… Maybe this is why he wins every case he’s in. Remember M. von Karma also had a perfect record and look at everything they dug up about him

          u/Fake_Testimony_22

          It’s definitely weird

          u/bored_borginian

and why would wright do all that anyway? he’s won a lot of difficult cases without using any tricks, he had no need to forge evidence, it’s just odd

          u/Im_A_Stepladder

plot twist: the one who sent the warning was Manfred von Karma’s ghost (I think he was executed not so long ago right?). or maybe it was Matt Engarde from prison xd

Khura’in and its broken judicial system that condemns defense attorneys

Many of you have MD’d me over the years inquiring about my country’s judicial system after I posted some worrying news articles regarding cases that not many people outside Khura’in are aware of.

Well, a few days ago, after 5 years of studying abroad, I finally finished my thesis: “Khura’in and its broken judicial system that condemns defense attorneys”.

I thought some people in this sub might be interested, so I translated it to English with the help of a colleague and you can read it HERE. My name and other identifying information are blacked out for safety reasons.

What’s your opinion on Klavier Gavin as a prosecutor?

Klavier Gavin, who moonlights as (jk) the lead singer of The Gavinners, has prosecuted several cases over the years atp and most of them quite successfully if I may add.

What do you think of his work as a prosecutor? (links to some trial transcripts and vids 1 2 3 4) imho, his entire persona and demeanor completely changes when he prosecutes and it's crazy to see, in a good way. He’s really competent (and also funny, see 2nd link lmao).

Phoenix Wright declared NOT GUILTY. The lawyer who got him that verdict? A novice working at Gavin Law Offices… a firm run by Klavier Gavin’s older brother, who is A MURDERER?!

WOW. What??! I honest to god can’t believe what I’m reading. Hold on.

“Phoenix Wright, formerly known as the Turnabout Terror, walks free thanks to novice defense attorney Apollo Justice. [...] During the trial, it was unveiled that the man who killed famous magician Zak Gramarye was none other than prosecutor and musician Klavier Gavin’s brother, Kristoph Gavin. [...]

Wright was promptly cleared of all charges while Kristoph was immediately put behind bars. Klavier Gavin has refused to make a public statement, and fans of The Gavinners have mixed feelings about both the outcome of the trial and their favorite music star.”

what do we think about the entire Klavier Gavin ordeal?

Gavins law offices dissolved for good this past may & apparently Phoenix Wright has taken Apollo Justice under his wing; those are the only real news we’ve had since the trial where Kristoph Gavin was declared guilty.

Klavier Gavin hasn’t really said anything about his brother’s sentence, but the Gavinners are going forward with their tour which starts next friday & Klavier himself keeps practising as a prosecutor. what’s everyone’s opinion on this?

Comments (24)     sort by Hot

u/klavdarDefender

My opinion is that everyone should leave Klav alone and let him move on. The media and many fans alike keep pestering him and even stalking him irl, and calling him heartless for moving on with his life “even though his brother is a murderer” LIKE THAT’S HIS FAULT??? HE LITERALLY SIDED WITH THE DEFENSE IN THE END AND WAS OBVIOUSLY DEVASTATED ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED!! HE’S PROBABLY TRAUMATIZED AS FUCK AND PEOPLE ARE ONLY MAKING IT WORSE

          u/idkdontask

This. I feel awful for him he’s only 24 and already dealing with all this BS in his life, I’m two years older than him and I wouldn’t know what to do tbh and there’s no way I could handle the way some of his so-called-fans are talking about him. The press being disgusting is a given unfortunately but some ppl on socials are VILE. Have you seen the things @luvluvguilty has posted?? I-N-S-A-N-E.

          u/noodlelover69     OP

no i agree with u don’t get me wrong; just summarizing the discourse happening rn. imo, him keeping himself occupied with his band, the tour & whatnot is clearly him coping with the trauma of his brother being a horrible person & all of it happening in front of such a big audience that scrutinizes everything he says or does. i don’t listen to the gavinners that much but i feel so sad for Klav, poor guy :(

I just saw pics of a trial that took place yesterday and the prosecutor was handcuffed so I got curious and searched him up, turns out his name is Simon Blackquill and he brutally killed a woman in 2020 so my question is why is he practising and why the fuck does he have a whole hawk with him

The hawk thing might be due to a program that was introduced in prisons last decade (worldwide I believe, or at least several countries have it) in which they allow inmates to take care of different animals because they believe caring for another living being helps rehabilitate and “soften” the prisoners, although I’m unsure how true that is…

u/bored_borginian

idk u/TheRealHerlockSholmes, you tell me, if you’re really him, smartest detective in history (now for real i have no idea why but i stopped asking myself those questions long ago. the justice system is a shitshow)

Did anyone else study at Themis?

Aristotle Means has just been found guilty of the murder of Constance Courte. I’ve been grieving all day, she was one of my teachers and a wonderful person

I did, class of 2018. I’m also devastated. Mind me asking when you graduated? I’d like to see some “familiar faces” at her funeral when it takes place, I never got along with any of my classmates (plus I’d be surprised to see them there, anyway. They were… a handful).

          u/useriwantedwastaken     OP

Class of 2016 here! We might have crossed paths when I was a junior or senior, who knows! I’ll gladly attend Ms. Courte’s funeral with you, I’ve PM’d you :)

They bombed the courtroom during the trial I was sketching AMA

I’m a courtroom artist and I was sketching as usual, the trial was nothing out of the ordinary and everything seemed normal and quiet enough. Imagine my surprise when a fucking bomb goes off?? Suddenly I could only see smoke and my ears were ringing. The courtroom started falling apart and many people were severely injured, some are even saying that a person passed away which I hope is only a rumor. Luckily I got out with just a few scratches but I’m shaking omg

yeah I will ask something actually: is law (or anything related to being in a courtroom/investigating, etc) the most dangerous profession in the entire world? cause after frequenting this subreddit for over a decade I’m seriously wondering now

          u/YourParentsDivorceAttorney

As a divorce attorney… yes, it is

As a defense attorney, I concur

                    u/useriwantedwastaken

As a prosecutor yeah what they said.

“The world owes Simon Blackquill an apology”

In a shocking turn of events (or not that shocking, because both Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth were there and it’s always something with them), prosecutor Simon Blackquill, sentenced to prison seven years ago for the murder of Metis Cykes, has been declared innocent ONE DAY before his set execution date.

The real culprit has been identified, or rather not identified, as The Phantom, who posed as a dead detective for a while before they got found out.

He has a daughter?

          u/noodlelover69

yeah what i thought he was bisexual??

                    u/itsacoldcasebaby

  1. Trucy Wright is adopted, 2. He hasn’t officially stated his sexuality and 3. even if he were bisexual he could’ve had kids with a woman because bi men still like women, otherwise they’d be gay men

          u/GirlFromKhurain     MOD     OP

I think my country is basically on the verge of war or something else terrible, the Queen is more of a dictator and she has falsely accused, imprisoned, and killed many people over the decades including defense attorneys whp were innocent and now she’s trying to frame Wright for some stuff. the princess is here and so is the most famous prosecutor in Khura’in (the Nahyuta I mentioned) and everything is a mess right now I’ll make a long post later if they don’t catch me posting this and we all make it out of this courtroom alive
