Mello's voice. The way it's changed and the way it's so familiar. The scratchiness and the smoothness of it, at once. It comes through loud, and would be clear if not for the static it's cutting through. It sounds tamed to Near, holding something in its bounds. Even when Mello isn't yelling, it sounds like he might start at any moment; his voice bubbles with the potential to burst. The tones of it are dancing, so full of life, so fertile for expression, and it's just as colourful as the rest of him but not quite enough; it teases Near.
