Rovender almost died twice. Eva has some emotions about that.

Was the show mid? Yeah. HOWEVER, it did whump the ever-living daylights out of these two at times, so I made a comic about it :3 What do you mean Eva's father literally almost died twice right in front of her and she had to watch it without being able to do anything about it?? How am I, avid WondLa fan and lover of hurt/comfort, supposed to be normal about that?? Anyway.

Forced myself to jump straight to lining after doing the skeleton sketches (instead of sketching over the skeleton) on this to save time and make myself more comfortable with less steps in the process. Really happy with how it turned out! I posted about Eva's post-show design over on my Tumblr (which didn't get contradicted yay!) and Rovender's is based off of the same doodles.

Comic of Eva and Rovender from the WondLa show. Rovender is braiding Eva’s hair and notices she is quiet. He asks her, “Eva, are you alright?” She turns to him and says, “I’m fine.”

Rovender, braiding Eva’s hair, says, “It does not appear so…” He fastens the braid to one bun on Eva’s head as she smiles, “But you don’t have to talk about it if you do not want to. I’ll be here when you are.” Eva looks troubled and then says, “But you almost weren’t.” Rovender looks startled and Eva continues, “Rovee, why did you let Eight shoot you?”

He says, “It was not a conscious decision.” He then looks at Eva and holds out his hand, saying, “She was going to shoot you, Eva, I could see it in her eyes.” Eva looks down and away. Rovender continues, “I nearly lost you once. I was not going to let it happen again.”

Comic of Eva and Rovender from the WondLa show. Eva looks distressed and says, “But I almost lost you! Muthr is dead because she made Besteel shoot her instead of me! If you’d actually died, I would have lost- I would have lost both-“ Rovender grabs her shoulders as she starts to cry and pulls her into a hug.

Rovender continues, “The first is to love your children unconditionally. The second…” He looks up and takes a deep breath, Eva looking up at him, and continues, “The second is to protect them, no matter what. I don’t regret what I did. I failed the first time. I would not let myself fail again.”

My WondLa.” Rovender is then shown smiling and saying “If it weren’t for you, I don’t know where I’d be.” The final panel is the artist’s interpretation of what their house in Faunas would look like, with Eva and Rovender hugging. Eva says, “I love you, Rovee.” And Rovender responds, “I love you too, Eva.”
