Chapter Text
~~~
Once upon a time, a healthy omega was born to Mr. & Mrs. Kim, who were overjoyed to welcome a new life into their family. They had named him Kim Seokjin as he was a precious gift to both of them. However, their joy had halted temporarily when they first saw and held the baby. You see, despite being normal and healthy, the little baby’s physique was unlike any omega they had ever seen. With shoulders so broad, long limbs and an angled face full of freckles, it was apparent that the baby was going to be the talk of their small town due to his peculiar features. And that was what had happened eventually.
“Oh my, look at such broad shoulders this little omega has! He is going to stand out, isn’t he Soyeon-ssi?”, Mrs. Kim’s neighbor exclaimed with barely-hidden glee during her visit to their house for congratulating them.
“Uh-yes”, Mrs. Kim nervously replied with a light frown.
“Oh don’t worry, I am sure he will grow out of -all this”, the neighbor said, while vaguely gesturing at the baby’s body.
“I know. I am sure my baby will grow up to be a beauty”, Mrs. Kim responded back, tight lipped as she held Seokjin a little closer to her chest.
The neighbor snorted immediately but quickly fake coughed to avoid the awkwardness present between them.
~~~
“Did you see her face? She was laughing at MY BABY. MY SEOKJIN. How dare she? So what if he has broad shoulders? So what if he has long limbs? He will grow up and his-his body will-“
Mr. Kim quickly cut off the post-dinner rambling of his wife.
“Soyeon-ah, we knew this would happen. Why are you surprised? Just let them talk and don’t let it get to your head.”
“Let them? Just let them? What do you mean by that Minho-ya? How can I just let them insult my baby in front of me? I would rather pull out their tongues out of their mouth before I let this happen to my Seokjin”, Mrs. Kim stormed out of the room in anger, while Mr. Kim just sighed deeply and rubbed his eyes in exhaustion.
He tried to prepare his mind for the difficult days ahead.
~~~
“This is the third time we had been asked to come to school because of your actions Seokjinnie. How many times do I have to ask you to mind your actions?”, Mrs. Kim crossly said to his young son who was sitting on the couch opposite to him.
“But-but you said that I shouldn’t let others walk over me and speak out whenever someone hurts me, Eomma!”, Young Jin exclaimed with a pout on his face.
“Jinnie, did I ever say to push people on the ground or to throw things at them?”, Mrs. Kim angrily replied.
“Then what am I supposed to do? They keep saying mean things to me and all of them make fun of me together. They also don’t listen when I ask them nicely to stop. What should I do, then?!”, Jin shouted back.
“Jin, stop shouting. That’s not the way to talk to your mother”, Mr. Kim strictly said. “You should tell your teachers when this happens, but remember violence is never the answer.”
“Appa, you don’t understand. I have already done that. Whenever I tell them, they don’t take me seriously.”
“But Jin-ah…”, Mrs. Kim started shaking her head.
Jin abruptly stood up. As usual, his parents did not understand him.
“You know what, I will keep my mouth shut. I will let everyone badmouth me and not say a single word. I will also let everyone hit me. That will make you both happy, no?”, Jin dejectedly yelled and ran to his room.
He flopped on his bed and quickly pulled the blanket over him. Angry tears started streaming out of his eyes and before he knew it, he was silently crying and sobbing.
Just few minutes had passed when the door to his room opened. Jin could clearly smell the comforting scent of his mother. He tightly held the blanket towards himself, not wanting to talk with any of his parents yet.
He felt his mother sit on the bed near him. She started lightly patting on his head.
“My baby, you did not do anything wrong. Eomma is sorry for shouting at you, okay?”, his mother softly said and kissed his head. “Don’t worry, we will talk with your teachers ourselves. But for now, how about I make your special samgyeopsal for dinner? Just for you, hmm?”
And little Jin really wanted to stay angry with his parents but the mention of samgyeopsal was way too tempting for him. Reluctantly he pulled his head out and quietly mumbled, “Really? Will you also make jajangmyeon for me?”
“Whatever my baby wants”, Mrs. Kim softly laughed and started tickling him, “Now come on, don’t be angry at us. I don’t want my Jinnie to be sad and unhappy.”
“Stop! It tickles, Haha”, Jin cutely giggled. He really couldn’t be angry with them even for a short time. His mom hugged him and held him closely to her chest. Jin felt all of the remaining sad thoughts slip away as he basked in the comforting scent and warmth of his mother.
“Always remember Jin-ah that no matter what everyone says, you are perfect and the best out of all of them because you are so smart and your heart is good, alright? All of these kids are just jealous of you. I know I said all of that earlier but don’t stop speaking up to them. Always be confident about yourself. I just don’t want you to engage in physical fights because I don’t want you to get hurt, okay my love?”. She lightly kissed him on his head. Jin nodded to appease her worries.
“Okay now. Let’s go downstairs and do some cooking”.
~~~
“Look, the broad-shouldered omega frog is here”
“He looks like a door from behind.”
“No no, more like a fridge. ”
“Doesn’t he look like an ugly chipmunk with his glasses? Haahah”
“ I think the frog wears the mask now to cover his ugly freckles”
“I don’t think he is an omega. I mean just look at him”.
Jin put in his ear-phones to block all of the outside noise. Really, he was so used to these comments by now that he had no interest in wasting his time and energy on them. He was now in his 7th grade and more mature than any of them. He was looking at his notes for a bit when he accidently stumbled into someone.
Jin internally groaned after realizing that he had just bumped into Kang-su, that big alpha bully. That dumb kid never stopped talking once he starts. Jin stopped the music and fearlessly looked at him.
“Ouch! Can’t you see where you are going, ugly chipmunk? What are those glasses for anyway, for show? What, no cuss words for me, little omega frog? Oh sorry, you can’t be little since you have shoulders as wide as the main gate of our home. Hahahaha.”
Jin stared at him with an unimpressed look.
“Are you done? Move so that I can go.”
“You really don’t have anything to say back, huh? Looks like you finally know how to control that foul mouth of yours”, Kang-su smirked and looked at the other kids, wanting any sort of validation from others.
Jin took a deep sigh.
“Ah, I guess you must be stupider than you look.”
“Why you little-“
“-you little bit*h? Who do you think you are? You must want to get beaten by me today… blah blah. Aren’t you tired of repeating these same lines again and again? Oh, I get it. You must have learned only these words while growing up since you can’t say anything else because you are just dumb-”
Before he knew it, the alpha had lunged at him but Jin was way faster as he dodged him immediately. The alpha stumbled and Jin quickly moved to his back and gave a hard kick at the other’s butt. The alpha fell to the ground with a grunt after receiving the impact from the kick.
Jin knew he only had few seconds to himself. Taking advantage of the little time available to him, he ran away from him as fast as he could. He was a fast runner and in no time, he was able to get out of the alpha’s radar. After catching his breath, he looked at his surroundings. He was in front of the library.
He seldom went to the library ever since he started coming to the school. He always studied and completed his assignments at his home.
Thinking that it would be a good place to hide, Jin went inside and found a corner of the library to take refuge in. As the adrenaline rush slowly left his body, he took his time to observe the books on the shelf. Curious, he took a book from the shelf with sparkly cover and turned to read the summary on the back cover.
‘The Omega Princess and the Alpha Frog’
Wasn’t this a stupid kid’s fairytale? Stupid stories which only told stupid lies.
After looking at it blankly for a while and sweeping through the pages of the book, Jin put it back in its place on the shelf. He sat down in the space near and tried to ignore the distracting sparkly and vibrant covers of the books placed in front of him. Jin wondered why there were hardly any people in this library section. Maybe it was because this section was only for fiction novels and most people didn’t read them here.
After waiting for a while, he got bored. He couldn’t ignore the itch in his body and brain to take a look at the same book again. He looked around and slowly went near the shelf to take the sparkly book out.
He observed the cover page where there was an image of a beautiful omega giving a kiss to the frog. He scoffed out loud and turned the pages to read the first page of the Chapter 1.
‘Once upon a time….’
And that’s how Kim Seokjin found himself tangled in the world of fiction, fantasy, mates and…
… True Love.
~~~
Once stepping inside the world of novels and fiction, Jin couldn’t escape it. He was hooked on them.
For him, it was a place where an omega can be whatever they wanted.
It was a place where a wolf finds true love irrespective of their sub-genders.
It was a place where your fated alpha will always accept you no matter how different you are from others.
It was a place where you will always get a happy ending, no matter how many trials and difficulties one passes through.
It was an escape from the reality that he wanted.
A little escape from his miserable social life.
And truly his social life was miserable. He had no friends to talk to. But it was fine, he did not like anyone from his school anyway. The omega and beta wolves his age never accepted him and the alphas either bullied him or stayed as far away from him as they could.
The only people that he rarely interacted with were an alpha named Taehyung and an omega named Jimin. Luckily they were his age too. He had met them accidently in an abandoned old park near their home. They were the only people in their small town who had let him play with them and did not mind him sitting next to them. He was secretly grateful to them. Just a tiny little bit.
However, he met them rarely. Those two were weird in a different way. They were always in their own personal bubble that sometimes it even felt intrusive to Jin when he joined them.
Despite sitting with them, Jin hardly spoke more than ten words. Both of them already seemed busy with each other anyways and Jin was more than content in just observing them silently in the background.
Therefore, he spent most of his time at home and alone.
As he grew up, he started developing his interest in writing.
It started with writing his feelings in a small diary.
Then it developed into writing short stories.
Stories that he treasured and protected with a fierceness unexplainable.
Reading books, specially fiction, had opened gateways to his imagination and creativity that he never knew he had.
He started to write down short stories and would share them with Jimin and Taehyung once in a blue moon.
Somehow, he wasn’t afraid of sharing this side of him to them. Call it his intuition, but he knew these two wouldn’t judge him for this and call him weird unlike others. Additionally, the sincere praises he received from them made him the happiest and added a boost to his confidence in his writing.
.
.
At the age of fourteen, Kim Seokjin realized his dream. He wanted to be an author.
He wanted to write and publish his own stories.
~~~
He had developed a habit of keeping a short diary with himself all the times. Whenever inspiration hit him, he will start writing in a flow. Even in school.
One fine day, just after eating his lunch during break time, he sat on the corner benches in their school ground. Completely absorbed in writing in his diary, he was unaware about the group of alpha and beta bullies who had already locked him as their target for the day and were coming closer to him.
Suddenly, someone snatched his diary while he was writing in it and Jin flinched hard in surprise. Standing up quickly, he tried to snatch it back from their hands but they were faster. Much much faster.
To his horror, they started playing catch with his diary and cackling loudly.
He could feel the anger and the fear rising within his body.
“Won-ah, let us read what this little frog was writing in his cute little diary?”
Won-young stopped playing with his diary and gleefully opened one of the pages to read some of the lines in his shrill voice.
No, no. This couldn’t be happening. No. no. no. no. no. no.
He couldn’t let this happen.
“HAHAHAHAH. Oh my- is he- is he writing stories?”
All of them started bawling at him.
“Won-ah, let us act out the dialogues shall we?”
“GIVE MY DIARY BACK TO ME YOU MORONS!”, Jin yelled as he tried to snatch his diary back. But Won-young skipped back a little and smirked.
“This little ugly omega is writing kids' stories? Why? Does this little frog want their life to be a fairytale too? Hahahah. Do you think any alpha would even want to look at your ugly face and abnormal body? Hahahah”.
“Lol, who would even want to read his pathetic stories?”
“Man, I have never met an omega who wants to write kid’s stories instead of being good at doing home chores or raising babies. I think he’s also cracked in his head bro.”
All the while hearing their pathetic comments, Jin’s mind and body was silently burning and simmering in anger. Especially at that Won-young basta*d, who had his diary still in his hand.
“YAH- YOU ASSHOLES!”, he screamed at them while moving near that moron alpha. All of them turned to him in attention.
Moving closer, he suddenly clenched his fist and with all of his strength, punched Won-young in the face.
The alpha cried and lost his grip on his dairy. He was bleeding. Jin quickly snatched it and moved back to create space.
“YOU-YOU BIT*H! I WILL BREAK YOU”
Jin looked at them with a saccharine smile and showed his middle finger to all of them.
But his luck always failed him whenever he needed it desperately. As it was, he was highly unaware of his surroundings and how their little interaction had pulled many students’ interest towards them.
And the worst part of it was that their coach had also seen his middle finger aimed at the others.
.
.
He knew he was dead.
~~~
After the whole meeting with the principal, his homeroom teacher, the coach, Won-young, Won-young’s parents and also- his parents-, he was now silently sitting on the couch in their home. His parents were sitting on the opposite couch.
They were eerily silent and had not uttered a single word to him after THE meeting.
The dead silence was making Jin feel highly awkward, uncomfortable and wary. He would rather his parents scold or yell at him, than give him the silent treatment.
“Eomma, Appa please yell, shout or-or say-whatever you want to. Ins-intsead of this whole silence-”
His mother just glared at him with sharp eyes, making him stop in between his sentence and gulp.
“What do you want us to say, Jinnie-ah?”
“Anything!”
“Do you feel any remorse for your actions?”, his mother snapped. Her patience finally wearing thin. She was obviously antsy about the whole thing. Jin knew, it was only because his stupidity would have by now been spread around their whole pathetic small town and gossiped about rather colorfully.
And his mother cared about his image…well- because he was an omega.
Gosh Jin hated it. He wished he had been a beta. No one gave them a hard time.
“No, I don’t”, Jin quietly said.
“See, see Minho-ya, how shameless he has become-“, his mother stuttered in disappointment.
“Kim Seokjin”, his father sighed deeply with a grim expression.
“No, I am serious. I do not regret doing it because those pathetic low lif- ahem- those alpha bullies deserved it.”
“JIN THIS IS NOT HELPING YOU”, his mother glared at him.
Jin was fed up of this. He knew that everyone knew he was right in this whole situation but no one was taking his side. He was so tired of these stupid kids, his parent’s reaction, their town…
He wanted an out.
No, he needed an out.
“I want us to move out of this town, Eomma, Appa. I am so tired of here. I hate the kids. I hate our neighbors. I hate the teachers who never-never take my side. I hate being strong all the time! I hate this town! Can we-can we just move to another city please?”
His mother was shocked in silence while his father grimly looked at him.
His father was perceptive, Jin knew that. But he was also a stickler for when it comes to any change in his routine. His father hated change.
“Seokjin, you know that’s not possible right? My whole business is established here. We are respected here. I know- I know it has been rather hard for you but it will get better soon. It’s just that it’s not possible for us to move to a new city where we don’t know anything.”
Jin didn’t say anything.
“Darling, we have always given what you have wanted but moving to another city is out of question. We have lived our whole life here and it will be difficult to move out. Do you understand?”
Jin’s parents had always fulfilled all of his wishes. He had gotten his Doberman, Bammie when he wanted. He had a sort of mini-library built in his room because he wanted it. The books he wanted. The treehouse his father had built for him. And it wasn’t like they were poor or had a small home. Their house was big with a garden and pond. Jin loved everything and also appreciated his parents.
But he did not love the people here. Thinking that he would have to live his whole life, stuck in this small town- get mated with one of these loser alphas (if anyone did court him, that this) and play house with them the whole time was suffocating him inside.
“We-we can try to ask someone. Appa, people-people do that all the time. Please, I don’t want to live here.”
“Jin please don’t. I don’t want to refuse you again and again”, his father gave an exasperated sigh.
His mother had become silent too.
Jin hung his head and stared in his lap. Tears were stinging in his eyes.
Without waiting any longer, he ran up to his room to wallow in his misery.
~~~
Good things come in our life when you least expect them.
He had heard this somewhere when he was a child.
And he never knew that he would experience this himself in real-time. Though, he is unsure whether his puberty and final presentation as an omega was a good thing or a curse in disguise.
He had felt like he was living in the plot of The Ugly Duckling. A twisted version of it maybe.
And truly it felt like that for him.
You see, Jin had been so used to being bullied on his looks and physique, so when the first time he had heard someone whisper that he was so beautiful, it felt like a terrible joke. A mockery. Totally sarcastic.
Life had been unexpectedly kind when puberty hit him.
His features had changed so much so that even Jin was surprised sometimes when he looked in the mirror. From being mocked as an ugly little frog by others, he was now known as a beauty who makes everyone speechless.
A 180 degree change in his life.
How it was even possible was beyond him.
With all these changes, one must assume that life must be better for Jin now. Whereas, to him it had only gotten worse in so many different aspects.
In the past, he was being chased by assholes only to torture him and call him names. Now he was again being chased by buffoons and losers who were only after him because he was way too beautiful than all other omegas.
Jin hated them all.
He hated their hypocrisy.
He hated their whole existence.
The alphas and betas were all smitten by him now apparently and the omegas were only jealous and insecure of him.
Jin did not want to interact with any single one of them.
The thought of mating any one of them made him want to puke.
He was being courted by almost each beta and alpha, even those who had made his life horrible. And funnily enough, his parents allowed them in their home in hopes that Jin chooses any one of his suitors.
But the truth was that Jin never wanted to be mated now.
He would rather die than play house with all of these dumb and hypocrite alphas who were only after his body.
He wanted to pursue being an author. He had taken literature as his majors in college and passed with flying colors.
After graduating with his literature degree, he had written so many novels but none of his manuscripts was approved by the only single publishing house in their stupid town.
Just because he was an omega.
"Ugh I hate those alpha assholes working in that publishing house. You know that bastard editor looked at my manuscript and I could see he was impressed by it. But he lied to my face and said that it was unoriginal and lacked in so many parts. I wanted to punch him in the face!", Jin was venting out to Jimin and Taehyung in their old hangout place.
They still remained the only people who he actually talked with, rarely though. Unsurprisingly, Jimin and Taehyung were going to mate each other soon and somehow, Jin was genuinely happy for them. Maybe he did care for them more deeply than he thought.
Jimin was scowling and angrily said, "You should have punched them Jin."
Taehyung sighed, "That's not going to solve the issue though. It's only going to negatively effect his image."
"As if I care about my image. Tae, my image has already been tarnished since the beginning", Jin mumbled out.
"You know what I am talking about though. I think instead of trying persistently at this same publishing house, you could look for different ones in other places. Like Seoul. I have heard there's no discrimination over there on the basis of our sub-genders", Tae seriously said to him.
Jin scoffed, "How would I even go to Seoul. I am stuck here in this miserable town for the rest of my life, remember?"
Jimin and Taehyung looked at each other and then at him.
It was Jimin who tentatively said to him, "You do know we are going to mate soon right. Well, our plan is to move to Seoul in about a year and a half after our mating."
"Wow that's great. I envy you both", Jin sadly pouted.
Taehyung continued after Jimin, "Thank you Jin. Well we were talking about it among ourselves and we were thinking that if you ever want to try and pursue your career there, you are more than welcome to stay with us for a while after we get settled there."
Jin was shocked at their genuineness and sincerity. No one else, apart from his family had ever done something for him. And these guys, who he had barely considered as his friends were presenting him with such a huge opportunity.
Jin's eyes truly lit in warmth and for the first time ever in his life, he hugged both of them and whispered, "Thank you so much for this. It means so much to me that you both don't even know. I will definitely think about it in future even though I don't know if it's possible for me.
~~~
And think he did.
He couldn't come up with any other better opportunity for him to achieve his dream.
How he was going to convince his parents was another big question mark.
However, till then he planned on making all of his courting proposals unsuccessful and it was so easy that even he was surprised.
If he was being honest, he had fun in making all the alphas and even betas, coming to court him, either mad, disgusted or frustrated with him.
He would act unruly, loud and as un-omega like with them as possible. In the end, all of them were quick to leave his house.
Gradually the number of proposals that came for him started to decrease as people started talking about him badly, making his parents deeply worried about him and his future.
Today the Choi's had come for having a formal courting lunch with the Kims. Mrs. Kim was anxiously looking continuously in the direction of where Seokjin and the Choi's son had left for having a private conversation face to face.
It wasn't really long before they heard shouts and the Choi's son came back looking highly furious.
"That omega is a lunatic. Complete lunatic I tell you. Let's go mother, I don't want to stay here even for one second", he yelled.
He was clutching his shirt which appeared to have been torn. The guy's mother started fussing over him and glared at Jin's parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Kim worriedly looked at each other and nervously asked him, "What happened son?"
The Choi's son glared at him, "What happened? WHAT HAPPENED? Your completely crazy son set his huge ass Doberman loose on me. I was so close to be being eaten by that monster dog because of your son."
The alpha's mother turned to them and yelled too, "I can't believe it. I thought really high of you Soyeon-ah. I tried to give your son a chance even though everyone asked me not too. Is this the thanks you all are giving us? No, we are never ever setting a foot in your house again and I would tell everyone else too."
After all the chaos and apologies from the Kims, the guests left their home in anger.
Both of them went outside in their garden to find Jin petting Bammie and gushing out loving words for him.
Mrs. Kim directly went for his ear and gave it a slight twist, making Jin yell out.
"Ouch ouch mom stop."
"No, not till you tell me why you did that?"
Jin gave her an innocent look to both of his parents.
"Oh no you don't. You troublesome kid, do you have any consideration for our poor nerves and what we are going through because of you?"
Jin's father shook his head in disappointment, "Why would you do that Jinnie?"
Jin rolled his eyes, "I didn't do anything bad. He was already undressing me with those filthy eyes of his when we came outside and talking to me about our night after mating. I wasn't going to just stand there still. So I made Bammie chase him a bit to make him learn a lesson. Didn't know he would get scared so easily though."
His mother still glared at him and his father frowned. Both of them didn't say anything for a while.
But then his mother hissed, "There is a way for you to reject them without creating all this drama. We are embarrassed in our town because of you."
Jin eyes darkened, "So what then. You shouldn't feel embarrassed, it's them who should be. They are the ones who have raised their kids wrong. Bullying me and harassing me all the time and now they want to court me? What a joke."
His father was somber when he pleaded, "That still doesn't make it right kiddo. If you can't think about your image, then think about ours for once."
"Let's move somewhere else then. Let's leave this miserable town where all these hypocrites live. We can go to Seoul. I will behave over there and we can start over mom dad. I will help too", Jin said with hopeful eyes.
Both his parents groaned.
"Not this again Jinnie. How many times do we have to make you understand that we can't move out?"
"Well then don't expect me to behave like all those docile omegas in our town. I am not going to mate anyone from this town ever!", Jin's face hardened and he stormed out before they could say anything else.
~~~
For some time there was peace in his life. There were no uninvited guests coming to see him. Jin felt like he could breathe freely for a while.
Maybe he had succeeded in tarnishing his image so bad that no one will ever come to court him now and then he could be free of this mating nonsense.
Since things were calm for the time being, Jin thought of talking with his parents and bringing up his decision of going to Seoul to visit Taehyung and Jimin, who had quickly mated and moved out of this town.
He was in touch with Tae and Jimin sometimes and was glad that they were happy and doing okay.
He did miss them. They were the only ones who seemed to understand him and his passion.
And now they were gone.
After contemplating on it for a while, Jin thought of discussing the issue during their dinner.
"Mom, dad, I have to discuss with you something", Jin nervously said. His heart beating fast.
His mom looked at him and also replied, "I also have to discuss something with you too."
Wait a minute. His mother looked nervous.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice how much his parents looked awkward and nervous about something.
What was this about?
Jin frowned slightly and lowly uttered, "What is it? You both are scaring me."
Mrs. Kim came near him and took his hand gently, making Jin raise his one eyebrow.
Why were his parents being like this?
"Jinnie, I know you won't like hearing this but please listen me out completely. We received a letter today. And guess what? It was from the Jeons. The Jeons from Busan."
Jin scowled immediately and opened his mouth but his mother raised her hand, "Yes, they were asking us for allowing their alpha son, Jeon Jungkook to court you. He would come alone, without his family. And-"
After fleetingly glancing at his father, his mother gulped and continued, "-And we have already said yes and invited him over."
Jin eyes widened in disbelief and anger, "WHAT? HOW COULD YOU SAY YES WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME?"
"Jinnie it's a proposal from the Jeon family. Jeon!"
"I don't give a damn about which family he is from. I just want to go to Seoul and pursue my dream. I want to get my book published. I don't want to get mated. I don't want to play house, do chores and produce babies for some obnoxious alpha-", Seokjin had stood up and yelled.
His mother also stood up and shouted back firmly, "Enough with this childishness Kim Seokjin. You can't just throw your life just because you want to write mere stories. You are now 27 years old and haven't been mated yet. Due to your immature actions, no other courting proposals are coming for you now. You should be happy that someone from Jeon family has actually approached us. Didn't you say you wanted to get out of this town?"
"Eomma, I don't want to get mated at all. I hate alphas. I abhor them to the core. They all are the same. I don't care what my age is or if I will die alone. I just don't want to do this. Please don't force me. Please.", he pleaded with a pang inside his heart.
Her mother glanced at him tight lipped and took a deep breath.
It was his father who gently said, "Jinnie, what your mother meant to say was that we are seriously worried for you. I understand you have been through worse when you were young but darling being all alone is not healthy either. You don't have any friends. You didn't date anyone your age. You are just holed up in your room, writing whatever that is. We have never stopped you and have given you space when needed. And we didn't strictly stop you when you had been chasing out all of your courting proposals because we kind of knew why you were doing that. But baby, this is not alright. Somewhere down your life, you need someone to be by your side. Someone you can depend on and look up to. You need a family of your own. You can write whatever you want after you are mated too. Just-just this time, try to not to reject this proposal without properly looking at him. Your mother and I are only worried about you love. Hmm?"
Jin looked down. Mrs. Kim's eyes softened and he patted his head, "Please?"
Jin took a deep sigh and said, "Okay okay. But on one condition."
Instantly both of his parents frowned. His mother pinched the bridge of her nose and quietly said, "What is it?"
"I am going to seriously consider this proposal and test him my way. But you have to promise me that if it doesn't work out, you both are not going to accept any other courting proposals on my behalf for five years and let me do what I want", he seriously looked at them both.
His mother glared at him for few seconds but then breathed out exasperatedly, "Okay fine. But not for five years. For one year only."
"Four years."
"No just one."
"Three."
"Two years and that's final kiddo."
"Okay done. You won't pester me about courting for two years then."
~~~
Feeling victorious, Jin was jumping up and down in his room.
This was a big opportunity for him.
No way he was going to let this get away from him.
He just needed to make sure that Jungoo or whatever, dislikes him in just on meeting and rejects him outright.
Jin smiled evilly. He already had few tricks up his sleeve.
He felt a tiny bit bad for deceiving his parents but what could he do? His parents would never understand that getting settled was not what he wanted. Also there was no way any alpha was going to let him pursue or support his dream of publishing his own book.
Finally the day came when a special lunch had been arranged for the Jeon's alpha son.
Jin put on some make up and wore a good outfit, something which had made his mother happy.
He had to make his parents believe that he was serious about this proposal.
He went downstairs in the kitchen where his mother was ordering their chef to make particular dishes. When she left, he asked the chef that he wanted to make eclairs for their guest. He knew what he was doing.
He got everything ready and then patiently waited for their guest to arrive.
