Bruce Wayne's Biggest Hater

Summary:

No one in the entire world hates Bruce Wayne more than Danny Fenton. Danny can honestly say that everyone in Gotham are idiots if they think Bruce is an airheaded playboy. The guy is an asshole.
Danny moved to Gotham after college and used ghost king money to start up an aerospace engineering firm. When Danny got settled he started up a collection for his favorite show 'Gray Ghost', he'd been introduced to it when his dad got the VHS copies thinking they were haunted. He had loved it ever since and finally he had the money and space to get some ultra rare memorabilia.
Unfortunately, someone always beat him to the punch.
Bruce. Fucking. Wayne.
Meanwhile Bruce is juggling being Batman, Brucie Wayne, and now being a guardian to the bat kids . On top of that he has to manage around his crush on the one other truly good philanthropic man in Gotham that has the same love of corny detective shows as him. Bruce has tried to talk to the guy at galas but Daniel seems to hate him. Which. Well. Isn't exactly a turn off.
Bruce's Kids are starting to suspect that Batman might be an idiot actually. Danny is oblivious to Bruce Wayne's attraction. It doesn't help that Phantom has a crush on Batman.

Chapter Text

Rego’s Enterprise was a great place to work, if you didn't mind the occasional yelling. Poor peon Lenard flinched at his cubicle when he heard their Founder Daniel “just call me Danny” Fenton screaming and throwing something.

“Is he ok?” Leonard asked, looking around. He had only been working for Regos Enterprise for a few weeks.

“Yeah.” Sauri, another engineer sighed. She popped a lollipop into her mouth, a substitute for smoking, “Danny is probably throwing a fit because he lost another auction.” She shook her head. “Poor guy.” A few other engineers nod.

“He is throwing a tantrum because he lost an auction?” Leonard asked, worried he might need a new job. This Danny might be a new rogue.

“Don't stress.” Sauri said, texting the group chat.

KING CHAT:

SaucyCat: AHHH so scared. Why are you yelling? 😫😭 are we bad?

KING: OMG NO!

KING: Cash sent to Employee Funds- $1,000.00

KING: Please buy lunch on me. So sorry.

Leonard looked at the chat. “He just bought us all lunch.” He looked around. Rego’s enterprise has maybe 100 people in the entire building.

“Yeah, he does that.” Rick, another engineer who has been around a while smirked. “He pays really good and the benefits are crazy. Do good work and keep your head down and you can pay off your student debts in about a year.” He said with a shrug.

Leonard gave a stressed chuckle. “ I owe over 250K. I don't think-” The sound of heavy boots coming down the hall made them all go quiet.

Danny Fenton looked gorgeous. Long and lean with muscles and a barrel chest. Relaxed clothing that hugged his form and made him look approachable. His hair was long but well kept. His face however was pinched as he glared at his phone.

“Sauri,” He said, throwing her a black card. “When you're getting lunch can you get me a smoothie?”

Sauri caught the card and smiled. “Can we get smoothies too?” She asked. Already ordering sushi and bento boxes from the place around the corner.

“Yeah.” Danny said, already in another auction. “Damnit!” He snarled, Danny looked up. “Can you please use your skills for evil so I can win?” Danny asked.

The blank looks he got back were an answer.

“Ugh, you're all good people.” Danny grumbled retreating to his office again.

“Ok.” Leonard said, looking around. “What is the deal?” He asked, feeling his stress ulcer acting up.

They all laughed as the lighting above them turned blue. Leonard remembered the welcoming packet. The lights were on an automatic timer. When the lights turned blue, they were supposed to take a break. When they turned a pale yellow/white they were supposed to work and finally when they were red they were supposed to go home. It was the weirdest and yet the most relaxing place that Leonard has worked ever.

“So. Danny.” Amelia said, taking a seat next to Leonard. “Is the weirdest and sweetest person in the world. He doesn't believe in mandatory overtime or crazy hours. If you're working too hard on a project he might show up at your house. We all have trackers as well in case we get kidnapped cus it’s Gotham.” She said with a shrug. Leonard nodded, the trackers also worked as ID cards.

“Danny will pop in and give gifts too.” Naomi said, looking over the divider. “Not to mention he pays really well.” She spun in her spinny chair.

“So, what is the downside?” Leonard asked, he remembered working at a different company for two months and being so stressed out that he got an ulcer and threw up blood before getting fired for ‘poor work ethic’.

“Danny yells, not at us!” Derek said he and Sauri had been some of the first hired at Regos. “It can be scary but if you tell Danny to be quiet he will stop, or go outside to smoke and curse out the people in the auction. It’s funny when he forgets his keys and gets locked out.” He said with a smile.

“Really?” Leonard asked, looking towards Danny’s office. “Who does he hate the most?”

Everyone looked at each other before opening to deliver the line together when they heard

“MOTHER FUCKING BRUCE WAYNE!” Danny roared.

Across Gotham, Bruce sat in his home office looking at his computer. Another Grey Ghost memorabilia acquired.

“Really?” Tim looked at his adopted Father with an eyeroll.

“Yeah.” Bruce said softly. He loved the TV show and bought everything that became available. The buyer had two good bidders but it was on a timer and Bruce was just faster.

“Did you beat out Fenton again?” Jason asked, polishing the barrel of his dissembled gun.

“Yeah.” Bruce said softly, smiling. Maybe he could offer Daniel Fenton a tour of his memorabilia and his house.

“Father, your obsession with the ancient TV show and Fenton is embarrassing.” Damian muttered, he had been watching his Father’s obsession and it was disgusting. How Father became soft and giggly ignoring the threats in the chat’s.

Cass looked at the most recent chats before the window closed. Fenton was cursing him out, rather creatively.

“Bad loser.” She said, shaking her head.

“Well,” Dick leaned back in his chair. “As far as I can remember, Fenton has never really won something in an Auction since I have been here.”

Bruce looked up at his amassed children. “What?” He asked.

Alfred looked in with a sigh, it was so painfully obvious that Bruce had a crush on Daniel Fenton. But to the other young man, it was probably seen as Bruce Wayne throwing his weight around and being an entitled piece of shit. Alfred would be shocked if something had finally happened, it had been a full decade. The men knew each other from Gala’s. Daniel was well known for being a philanthropist, a good one.  A mutual activist Samantha Manson-Foley was not helpful either. She seemed to set them up so they had to spend at least ten minutes at each Gala standing next to each other. Bruce playing Himbo-Brucie, while Daniel looked like he was being actively tortured. It had become a habit of Bruce’s to also give double what Daniel did, to the charities and organizations that both Manson-Foley and Fenton did. The animosity was palatable but Bruce was strangely unobservant of this fact. His kids, Alfred and 90% of Gotham (and the world) could see that Bruce had a crush. Daniel Fenton did not see it, all he saw was a rich bastard who enjoyed showing him up.
