Chapter Text

Sunoo have always been a daydreamer.

He believed dreams were worth dreaming of; worth holding onto. He believed that if he clinged hard enough, dreams would become a reality.

He daydreams even today.

Sunoo wonders; questions very often whether the life he have living till now is also just a dream. A fragment of his own mind.

He wonders very often, looking outside the window of his lonely mansion.

It's just a nightmare.

The omega tells himself sometimes. A long nightmare. One from which he will eventually wake up and find himself wrapped, warm, loved in his father's arms.

He could be free then— happy even.

"Sir, your tea!"

His chain of thoughts breaks, like an evidence that he can never truly escape his fate.  He jolts in his side slightly before lifting his head up.

"Your tea.." a maid repeats

It was only then Sunoo looked down.

Oh.

Hot amber liquid gushed out of the porcelain cup he was previously drinking from.  It covered the table entirely, painting the green table cloth golden.

The tea pot was still in his hands, still pouring tea.

"Could u clean this mess?" The omega asked, looking up at the maid before placing the pot down.

The maid nods excusing herself.

How messy.

He thinks, watching as the spills made their way to him

.

"How have you been lately, Sir?" Jay asks him, sitting cross legged and his posture straight. If one has to guess they would say it looked more like a business deal than just a casual talk.

The omega visibly tenses. He finds the conversation way too formal— way too polite for his liking. "You don't have to be so formal with me, Jay-shii"

He breaks out a smile hoping to ease the tension in the air. "I always tell you so"

"I can't do that— forgive me Sir" Jay declines politely like he always does. It almost makes Sunoo laugh every time— Jay is a beta working for the lee's. He manages almost all their works, well he is rather dedicated.

No wonder, the older was lee's personal assistant for all the years Sunoo had known.

"Why did you wanna see me?"

Jay doesn't hesitate handling him a bouquet of flowers— while roses blooming beautiful, untainted and pure. Sunoo stares at them.

It looks back at him too.

Mocking.

"Mr Lee sent these for you.."

"You always pick the same flowers for me, Jay shii" Sunoo mumbled voice flat. "I might as well consider you have taken a liking in me"

"Mr Lee have sent them" Jay tells him. A stupid part of Sunoo wants to believe in him but his husband have never shown his face in the past five years. Even as the lie was so sweet to believe in— it only makes him feel more stupid.

"You don't have to lie, Jay shii" The omega sighed tracing the curve of the petals. "My alpha doesn't love me enough to send flowers every visit of yours.."

Alpha...

His alpha...

It almost makes him cry about how good it sounds.

"...I am afraid he may have as well forgotten my face"

"That is not true.." the beta tries to say.

But it is true he abandoned me.

"Then what is?" The omega questions silently more to himself than at the fellow beta who looks at him with pity. He doesn't answer Sunoo, perhaps he doesn't need to.

Everyone knew Lee Heeseung never loved him— he never even wanted him. Such a pity...

"You don't have to look at me that way, Jay shii" Sunoo laughs. It sounds hallow but Jay doesn't notice that. Maybe he does but chose to not say anything. "I don't always get to have a friend over"

But they aren't friends. They never were to begin with. Jay wouldn't even care if he wasn't his boss's infact legal partner.

"Sir... the reason why I came today is more than just flowers.." The latter starts, however his voice comes out quieter than usual. He doesn't look at the omega.

He seems nervous.

"Mr Lee have prepared papers for you to sign"

Sunoo suddenly can't breathe—

"What papers?" The omega had asked voice shaking.

"Divorce papers"

Everything hits him at once— his hands starts to shake and his fingers curl into themselves digging holes. It burns— it hurts. His eyes burns with heavy tears he didn't realise were rolling down his face.

"It will be hard for you bu-"

"Why do I sign, Jay shii?" Sunoo asked, cutting him with a wet sniff. His voice comes low like his throat was clutching itself tight.

He couldn't breathe.

"Here.."

Sunoo stares at the divorce papers. His husband haven't signed on them yet— will it weight on his heart as it does on him?

The thought makes him chuckle. Who was he kidding even?

The pen shakes in his grip as he signs the paper. The tears from his eyes drench the paper. He helplessly chocked on them, loud.

He probably sounds pathetic.

But he didn't care of being loud anymore. Nor did he care of the beta staring at him with pity.

Sunoo didn't understand— Why did it have to be him?

He didn't want anything— all he ever did was wish. He had never demanded.

He only have ever wished for him and his alpha.

Why wouldn't he get for once what he longed for the most?

Dreams were supposed to be free. Weren't they?

Sunoo believed that loving Heeseung would one day be enough— that if he stayed, if he waited, love would arrive eventually.

It didn't.

It will never.

Because on the day their marriage finally ends, everything does too.

.......
