Subject; ‘Argo’
Argo, 9ft long 255-pound male specimen was brought into the S.C.E.D. (study case enclosure dome) for my observation. Taken from planet -REDACTED- he is all white in color aside from three, gray stripes running across his back, has the stocky bulk that reminds me of earth’s Komodo dragon and interestingly, the criteria of extinct dinosaurs. He has three clawed feet with a fourth as a heel spike and a fifth raised toe like the Velociraptor. A three-celled frill similar to the Dilophosaurus, or the still alive frilled lizard sits on the back of his slender head.
(Excuse the crud drawings but I am a scientist not an artist.) These twin; 8 inch, three-celled frills each have a centered eye pattern that could be meant to intimidate and scare away predators- though what predators could this thing have? Sorry, I’m getting a head of myself. Argo uses these frills to express himself; they flex in & out often. He folds down the frill when sleeping to form a row of three short head spikes. Three is a theme for this creature, for he has the same set of eyes on his face. They are blood red and are the only spot of color on this creature. These eyes are in the shape of a half circle and only face right. Argo has a fascinating optical illusion. From a side view, you can see two long horns on the back of his head mixing in with the frill, but from the front they appear longer and thinner, almost like antennas, and stretch to his third eye row to form a ridge. This can be seen best when the frills are folded away. His four claws are long and pointed, but one is curved the other way like a thumb, heck, his claws are slender enough to spread apart and grab items with these 5 inch ‘fingers’ and has been seen pawing the ground with them. The ‘finger’ idea is even better, because he can even stand on his hind legs! That last normal thing about Argo is his tail; making up 3 of his 9ft long body, this prehensile appendage has a single row of barbs on the underside. These lock whatever he’s holding into place. I expect Argo to be a swift hunter given the tools he has on hand. It was not enough to have fully black mouth of sharp teeth with four fangs and knife claws no…this is an alien monster. Four thick tentacles sit on his back, at rest, these sit at 4ft but can stretch to 10ft when it wants to…Argo has no underbelly, no skin, I first thought he arrived injured to the point where I could see his ribcage…but no. That is a black mouth of teeth. Always open. Always ready. This along with his tentacles & tail make for a deadly hunting trip. This is a specimen I will be keeping a close watch on as he is in my care. It was nice of my boss to let me nickname him, the name in the file is nothing I know how to pronounce.
