Work Text:
“Wow, you look like shit,” was the way Jake’s best friend Park Jongseong, better known as Jay, greeted him good morning as he stumbled onto the bench during breakfast in the Great Hall.
Jake gave him a look, then picked up a slice of toast and stared at it.
“Dude, are you even awake right now?” Jay waved a hand in front of his face.
“I’m fine,” Jake pushed him away. “Stop fussing. I just got back late from Astronomy class last night and couldn’t fall asleep after.”
Jay hummed in sympathy. “You’ve gotta figure out this insomnia thing. Just head up to the Hospital Wing and ask for their strongest dreamless sleep potion.”
“Can’t,” Jake yawned loudly and dropped his toast. “They don’t work on me anymore.”
“Well, eat something at least,” Jay nagged, pushing his plate back toward him. “You can’t skip sleep and breakfast. We have to go down to the greenhouses today. I’m not dragging your sorry ass back to the castle if you pass out.”
“Gee, thanks for the care and concern,” Jake bit into his toast and chewed miserably.
He wasn’t really annoyed. Jay was clearly only acting grumpy, evidenced by the obvious concern on his face as he examined the dark bags under Jake’s eyes. He knew that his friend was just worried, and it was only a matter of time before he took the nuclear option and owled Jake’s mother.
“I’m just stressed out about exams,” Jake tried to reassure him. “Once we’re done I’ll be back to normal. It’s just a few weeks more.”
Jay didn’t look convinced, “And you’re sure this has nothing to do with - “
“This has nothing to do with him!” Jake snapped.
The wizarding war may have ended, but there was a new he who must not be named in Jake’s life and it was his ex-boyfriend.
Lee Heeseung.
Just thinking about him made Jake’s skin crawl. Heeseung was a year above them and Jake had known him since he started school at Hogwarts. They were friends. Good friends. Best friends even, though Jay would get mad if Jake ever said that.
Truthfully, there was always something a little special about his relationship with Heeseung. Hanging out with him felt different than hanging out with Jay. It was the way Heeseung could coax him out of a bad mood with just a smile and the way his belly would ache from laughing too hard when Heeseung impersonated Professor Kim and the way his stomach flipped every time he complimented Jake with that charming smile on his face.
There were two main differences between Jake’s friendship with Jay and his relationship with Heeseung.
Once was the fact that they were both werewolves. Massive progress was made in werewolf rights over the last decade, and wolves were now welcomed at schools, where special clinics were opened for them to spend heats and ruts.
That was where they met - Jake standing in line to the clinic, awkwardly waiting to have his details taken, when Heeseung emerged, freshly presented as an alpha. Still weak from his first rut, Heeseung stumbled into Jake’s arms, and then his life.
The second difference was the fact that he could finally fall asleep when Heeseung was around.
Jake suffered with insomnia all his life. His mother often told the story of how she would get scared out of her wits when she heard noises at the foot of her bed at night and woke to find her son wide awake and staring at her, unable to fall asleep.
He had been to every specialist Healer in the country, a Tibetan sorceress that turned him blue for a week, and, when his mother got desperate enough to try everything, a veiled mage that promised to cure him but ended up trying to kidnap him. It ended in a wicked duel where Jake got to see why his mother was a celebrated Auror.
Before they knew it, it was time to enroll in Hogwarts, and his mother entrusted his care to the Professors at the school. To her delight, the first letter she received from her son was an announcement that he slept through an entire night because of a wide-eyed boy with a dazzling smile and an enchanting apple scent.
Something about Heeseung made Jake feel safe and comfortable. Maybe it was his dormant omega recognizing Heeseung’s alpha as a protector. Whatever it was, it started with napping against his shoulder while they leaned back on a tree at the Great Lake one afternoon. Heeseung almost woke him up but Jay stopped him and explained Jake’s insomnia.
After that, Heeseung tried his best to help Jake achieve a somewhat normal sleep schedule, even if it meant bribing the prefects on duty to look the other way when Heeseung made his way from the Slytherin dorm to the Ravenclaw dorm every other night.
Heeseung would sit beside Jake’s four poster bed and sketch or read or write lyrics and just his presence soothed Jake into slumber. When he woke, Heeseung would be gone, and Jake would feel rested and human, and not at all like a zombie, which was how he usually felt after a fitful night of tossing around.
Their friendship blossomed into relationship in Jake’s sixth year and Heeseung’s seventh, when Jake stayed at Hogwarts for Christmas, since his parents were traveling. They had the entire dorm to themselves, and somewhere between opening presents and sipping firewhiskey smuggled in from Hogsmeade, Jake presented as an omega and Heeseung took him through his first heat.
Naturally, he freaked out, especially when Jay returned from whichever corner of the earth his parents took him on holiday and questioned him like a criminal. He avoided Heeseung for a solid week, until the alpha cornered him one night on the way back from checking on his Herbology project and asked if he wanted to smoke together.
The weed made him mellow and loose lipped and Jake confessed, much to Heeseung’s delight. The next day they were boyfriends and everyone from the castle ghosts to the professors sunk their teeth into the juicy gossip that straight-O’s-in-every-report-card-Ravenclaw Sim Jake and Captain-of-the-Quidditch-team-Slytherin Lee Heeseung were dating.
Their relationship lasted for a few blissful months, and the prefects upped their bribe charges because of how many times they discovered the two fooling around in the castle after dark. Jake was in love and even though they never actually said those words to each other, he was sure it was only a matter of time.
They were happy until around April, when everything began to go wrong.
Park Sunghoon was a transfer student in Heeseung’s year who turned out to be the bane of Jake’s existence. Sunghoon and Heeseung became firm friends, and while Jake was happy his boyfriend was thriving socially, he began to feel neglected.
Date nights became sneaking into Hogsmeade with Sunghoon and the boys, and sleeping in Jake’s dorm every other night became twice a week, then once every two weeks, then once a month, until Jake was back to square one in his sleep cycle, stumbling around and almost passing out in hallways.
Jay sat Jake down, and as his best friend, gave him the hard truth. He said that as much as Heeseung was wrong for letting their relationship crumble, Jake was wrong for thinking Heeseung was the solution to his insomnia.
He understood what Jay was saying. He knew there was a deeper problem that needed resolving, and he promised his friend that he would talk to his mother about it, but right now he just needed to wallow in his misery for a while.
He saw the breakup coming from a mile away. Jake was so sure of it that by the time Heeseung asked him to meet down by the lake, he was all cried out. He accepted the “it’s not you it’s me” speech gracefully and said his goodbyes.
Of course, he sobbed like a child in his friend’s arms as soon as he entered the dorm, but that was between him and Jay.
It had been four weeks since, and Jay’s patience was wearing thin.
“Owl your mom today, Jaeyun,” Oh, Jay meant business if he whipped out Jake’s real name. “Or I will.”
Jake was in a predicament. He really didn’t want to owl his mother and tell her that he wanted to continue treatment for his insomnia, because then he would have to tell her that he and Heeseung broke up.
Yes, he was living a lie and the web was becoming more and more tangled every time she asked why Heeseung didn’t write to her. He just had no idea how to broach the subject. His mother would comfort him and offer to visit in Hogsmeade and let him cry and hold him.
Curse his loving and kind best friend and mother! Why wouldn’t they let him simmer in his misery until he wasted away?
Jake yawned loudly and stretched his arms out as he sauntered along the lawn towards the greenhouses. Jay, being a prefect, had to leave breakfast early to sort out a dispute in the bathrooms, so Jake strolled to class alone.
He was in no mood to learn about the benefits of leaving dream root out in the moonlight to increase the strength of a sleep potion, especially considering it had no effect on him, and was already tempted to skip class when he saw a suspicious sight.
Three heads peeked out from the side of the greenhouse. They scouted the area, then made a mad dash for the Forbidden Forest. They couldn’t be older than third years! Jake wanted to call after them, but decided against it. He should find out what they were up to first.
He cast a disillusionment charm on himself and ran after them, slowing down when he got nearer and trying his best not to step on any crunchy leaves or stray branches and alert them to his presence.
They didn’t go very far. Jake could hear them speaking in hushed whispers just beyond a curtain of ivy. He pushed aside some leaves slowly and his mouth dropped open in shock. Was that…?
“A weed farm!” the tallest exclaimed proudly.
“This was your big idea, Riki?” another boy, with foxy eyes and soft cheeks asked in derision.
“Yes,” Riki answered with sass. “This here is a gold mine, Sunoo!”
“‘This here’ will get us expelled,” Sunoo crossed his arms and turned to the other boy. “Jungwonnie, we’ll figure this out.”
“But this could work!” Riki said. “I swear. I learned how to grow this stuff by watching my older brother. It’s legit! And Sunghoon hyung already agreed to deal with me and take the fall if we get caught. All we have to do is tend to the plants and supply.”
“Sunoo is right, Riks,” Jungwon said, his voice laced with worry. “This isn’t worth getting expelled for.”
“It is if we can make enough money to pay for your father’s treatment,” Sunoo said thoughtfully. “I didn’t think you planned this out so thoroughly, Riks. I’m sorry for doubting you. I’m willing to give this a shot. Good job.”
Riki’s face rivaled the scales of a red leather dragon and he shoved his hands in his pockets and toed the dirt with his shoe, “Yeah, it’s - whatever. We can do this. If you think it’s a good idea”
“I do!” Sunoo linked his arm into Riki’s and Jake held back a chuckle at the way he froze in place. “And you have no say in this, Won. We’re doing this whether you like it or not. Now let’s go or we’ll be late for Charms.”
Jake watched them skip out of the forest and smiled to himself. They were sweet kids. He wouldn't rat them out. He eyes the rows of plants, almost dizzy from the strong scents emanating from them. The heads looked sticky, some purple, some green, and he yawned loudly again.
Oh!
Of course!
The idea hit him like a train, and he did a little happy dance at the sheer genius of his plan. All he had to do was get Jay on board.
“You want to buy weed from your ex-boyfriend’s friend group?” Jay asked, the distaste for his plan painted across his face.
“Okay, it sounds crazy when you put it like that, but hear me out,” Jake shuffled onto Jay’s bed, ignoring his protests of ‘hey no outside clothes on my sheets!’. “I really do think that exam stress is making it worse than usual. Once I’m done, I swear I’ll owl my mum, but I really want to get through the exam season without her dragging me across the country searching for herbal cures!”
“I get that,” Jay said. “But why do you have to buy it from that asshole?”
Jake couldn’t exactly tell his prefect best friend that a bunch of kids were growing weed in the Forbidden Forest and he wanted to support them as much as he could. He also couldn’t tell him that his respect for Sunghoon intensified greatly after hearing that he was the fall guy so Jungwon could earn some money for his father’s medical bills.
Jay’s hatred for Sunghoon rivaled Jake’s, even though it only stemmed from being on different Quidditch teams and not a failed relationship.
“Because it sends a message,” Jake bullshitted as hard as he could. “I’m so sick of his snarky comments and perfect, smug face! I’m going to march to the Slytherin table this evening and buy me some green! That will show them that I’m completely over the whole situation and they can stuff it!”
Jay’s concern was quickly morphing into pity, “I - that does sound like some shit you would do to get over Hee - “ “Don’t say his name!” “- okay, goddamn. Do what you gotta do, Jakey. But promise me that after exams you’ll take this seriously. All jokes aside, I’m worried about you.”
“I promise.”

“Well, well, well, look who came crawling back,” Sunghoon’s infuriatingly handsome face sported a smug look and Jake wanted to punch it off.
“I came to buy weed,” Jake said dryly, trying his best to avoid Heeseung’s doe eyes and sweet scent.
“Dude, pipe down,” Sunghoon looked around nervously and pulled Jaeyun to sit beside him. “How did you know? We haven’t even harvested yet.”
“Hey, Jaeyun,” Heeseung called from across the table.
Jake shot him a weak glare then schooled his expression back to its neutral stance. His plan was nonsense, but it did feel satisfying to show Heeseung that he wasn’t bothered by him in the least.
“I have my ways,” Jake turned back to Sunghoon.
“What?” Sunghoon raised his eyebrow. “Never mind. I have a sample on me. You can have that for now. I’ll have more stock from tomorrow.”
“Nice doing business with you,” Jake grabbed the baggie and tossed a gold coin to Sunghoon.
“Bye, Jaeyun!” Heeseung said as he left.
Jake didn’t look back.

Smoking actually did help Jake sleep and over the next few weeks, he began to see Sunghoon as often as he saw Jay. At least once a week, he would march over to the Slytherin table in the Great Hall and purchase a baggie of weed.
Like clockwork, Heeseung would greet him and Jake would reply with a stiff nod. It was like exposure therapy. At least, that’s what Jake told himself anyway. If anything, it only made the ache in his heart ten times worse.
Seeing Heeseung up close was painful. All he could think about was the times they spent together, how soft his lips were, and how every time he used to look into his eyes he found nothing but adoration. How did they go so wrong?
Jake reached for his backpack and rooted around to find the cigarette he rolled before coming to the Astronomy tower to do some observations for his homework. It was his favorite place to smoke, and contrary to popular belief, the weed didn’t make him space out. He actually found it easier to concentrate on the stars and drown out the noises in his head.
Except… the cigarette wasn’t in the front zipper pocket where he left it. He groaned loudly. This was just his luck.
It was the last of his weed before he restocked with Sunghoon tomorrow and he was really looking forward to it! He bit on his bottom lip and did some calculating. If he left the tower now, he could run into Sunghoon coming back from Quidditch practice and be back in the tower in time to finish the last section of his chart.
There was no time to think! Jake grabbed his backpack and rushed down the tower two steps at a time. By the time he reached the lawn, he was covered in sweat and panting for air. He saw no sign of the rowdy Quidditch team but persevered and rushed all the way down to the pitch, where the Slytherin's were still mounted on their broomsticks in the air.
He sighed and headed to the stands. He might as well wait for them since he came all the way down here. He could finish his homework tomorrow.
“Jaeyun?”
Jake almost missed a step and took a painful fall down the stands, but was saved by a hand grabbing onto his forearm.
“Hey, you okay?” Heeseung looked at him in concern.
Jake shrugged his hand off, “I’m fine. You startled me. How come you’re not on the field?”
Heeseung tapped his neck where a scent blocker was pasted against his scent glands. Ah, he was pre-rut. That would explain why Jaeyun didn’t catch his scent.
“Came to spy?” Heeseung attempted to joke.
He knew Jaeyun didn’t care much about Quidditch.
“I came for Sunghoon,” Jake said.
“Oh,” Heeseung cleared his throat and looked up at the team zooming above them. “He’s up there.”
“Thanks, I didn’t notice,” Jake said sarcastically, then almost kicked himself for being petty.
He was supposed to be showing how moved on he was!
Heeseung gave him a small smile and leaned back in his seat, “If you’re here for weed, I can help you out.”
“Are you dealing now too?” Jake asked in surprise.
“Sometimes, if Sunghoon isn’t available,” Heeseung shrugged.
Jake considered his options. Who knows how much longer the Slytherin team would spend zooming around the pitch? He could let Heeseung facilitate the sale and be in a hot shower in the next fifteen minutes. They were already talking anyway, as much as he was trying to avoid doing so.
“Yeah,” Jake rooted inside his backpack for his coin pouch. “Give me the usual.”
Heeseung leaned over to grab Sunghoon’s kit bag. Jake tried his best to not stare at the exposed honey skin as his shirt rode up.
“Here you go,” Heeseung handed him the baggie in exchange for the coin.
“Thanks,” Jake mumbled, stuffing it into the pockets of his robes.
“You’ve been smoking a lot these days,” Heeseung noted absently. “Trouble sleeping?”
“That’s not your problem anymore,” Jake snapped.
The flash of hurt across Heeseung’s face should have been satisfying, but all it did was make Jake want to cry. He turned and hurried down the staircase of the stands.
Exams commenced the next week and Jake was swamped with revision, last minute handing in of projects and trying his best to catch Sunghoon. Sunghoon, it turned out, was a busy man. He was always at Quidditch practice, or in an exam room or zoning out along the river with Riki, Sunoo and Jungwon.
This meant that Jake was forced to buy from Heeseung, who for some odd reason, seemed to be taking a special interest in Jake’s health.
“I heard about a muggle technique being tested right now,” he said enthusiastically to Jake at the breakfast table one morning. “I can send you the details, maybe you can still make it onto the early applicant list.”
Jake handed him the coin, took the weed and left.
“There’s a charm that puts people to sleep,” he said the next time, when Jake found him in the library. “I can show you the wand work and incantation.”
Once again, Jake gave him the silent treatment and left with his purchase. He couldn’t fathom why Heeseung started caring about his insomnia again. He didn’t seem too cut up about it when he broke up with Jake.
Jake was busy inspecting his reflection in a mirror on the second floor bathroom when Heeseung cornered him like the snake he was.
“Do I really look that terrible?” Jake mumbled to himself as he inspected the bags under his eyes. “Maybe he feels bad because I look like a strong gust of wind could take me out?”
“Jaeyun!” Heeseung called from the entrance of the bathroom, approaching rapidly. “I was looking for you. I contacted the muggle facility and they agreed to let you into the testing program. We should owl your mom and see what she thinks.”
Jake stared at him, slack jawed.
“Come on, it might help you,” Heeseung smiled brightly.
“Are you insane?” Jake asked, the controlled fury finally leaking from the box he shoved it away in. “Like have you actually lost your mind?”
Heeseung’s smile dropped and he looked confused, “I’m not making fun of you or anything. This study is legit, I’ve been following their work for a while - “
“Why do you care?” Jake asked. “You’ve ignored me for weeks! You broke up with me!”
“Jaeyun…”
“I don’t have time for this,” Jake pushed his hair back. “If you want to help, then tell Sunghoon I only want to deal with him and if he can’t make himself available, I’ll just send the cash to the kids myself and pick my own damn bud!”
“That is weird,” Jay remarked as he chewed on a box of fudge Jake’s mom sent as a part of an exam care package.
“Right?” Jake paced the dorm.
“Have you ever thought about why he broke up with you?” Jay asked.
Jake flung his hands up in the air, “Only every day since! He gave me some crap excuse but the only thing I could think of is that he got sick of me and my sleping problem or that maybe..”
“Maybe?”
“Maybe he was interested in someone else.”
“Sunghoon?” Jay asked.
“Yeah,” Jake plopped onto Jay’s bed and stared at the ceiling. “This all started when he transferred here. Maybe Heeseung felt something for him.”
“They don’t act like they’re dating though,” Jay tapped his fingers on his lips.
“Whatever,” Jake mumbled. “Good for them.”
“Didn’t you say that Heeseung is pre-rut?” Jay asked.
“Yeah, so what?”
“Seventh years are allowed to take a heat partner!” Jay exclaimed. “We can just see if he checks into the rut clinic with Sunghoon and then we’ll know for sure.”
“Oh my god,” Jake sat up so fast he felt dizzy. “You’re right! Check in at six unless it’s an emergency, so we have just enough time to get there!”
“Get your ass up!” Jay was already shoving his feet into his shoes.
“Wait!” Jake grabbed his arm. “Let me go alone.”
Jay raised his eyebrows in concern, “Are you sure?”
“Yeah,” Jake assured him. “This is just something I gotta do by myself.”
Jay pulled him into a hug, “Even if it is true, his loss man, screw him.”
Even though Jake’s stomach was knotted and his palms were sweaty, he couldn’t help his smile. Jay was a good friend.
He left the dorm, and instead of rushing to the clinic, he headed toward the Slytherin dorms. Heeseung was the type to be late for everything.
He hated going through a rut and preferred to stay in his dorm for as long as he could. Jake was hoping to catch him before he left. He saw the breakup coming and prepared himself for the pain, but Heeseung owed him more than some half-assed excuse and today was the day he gave him some answers.
Jake was also out of weed and was hoping that he could buy some off Sunghoon. He was still struggling to sleep and if he found out that the actual reason Heeseung broke up with him was for someone else he would definitely need the comfort of some high grade bud.
With the amount of times Jake went over to the Slytherin table to buy weed, he overheard the dormitory password being mentioned multiple times, so he got in with no problems. He recognized some of Heeseung’s dorm mates in the common room and greeted them.
He always got along with his friends they were dating. They looked somewhat confused that Jake was strolling in casually after not visiting for a while but they told him that Heeseung was in the dorm room sleeping.
He thanked them and took a deep breath before entering. It was a mess, and Jake always wondered how someone so minimalist could create such an untidy space. Heeseung was a lump under the covers on his bed.
The room smelled faintly of apples, and Jake worried that he might be in rut already if his scent was leaking through blockers. Maybe this was a mistake…
“Jaeyunie?” A messy head of hair peeked out from the lump, sniffing the air eagerly. “What are you doing here?”
Jake hated himself for worrying about some who hurt him, but Heeseung was in a state. Sweat beaded on his forehead and his skin was tinged pink. This wasn’t the time. He would ask him after his rut.
“I came for Sunghoon,” Jake lied.
Heeseung sat up, the covers falling off to reveal him wearing nothing but a pair of boxers. He was hard and the sight of his huge bulge tenting his underwear made Jake squeak in surprise. Sue him, his ex was hot! Tall and tanned, with a lean body courtesy of Quidditch.
“Oh. You two close or something?” Heeseung asked.
“What?” Jake took a step back and reached out for the door handle. “He’s my dealer, I just came for some - “
Heeseung got out of bed, stalked toward him and pushed the door closed again, resting his hand against the wood beside Jake’s head.
“ - weed.” He finished in a whisper.
Heeseung was angry. “Are you sure that’s all you want from him? Cos you smoke a lot these days, Jaeyun. More than you did with me. You coming here for weed or for Sunghoon?”
Jake should know better than to rile up an alpha on the verge of a rut, but Heeseung was really pissing him off, “Why, you jealous?”
Eyes flashing red, and scent flaring, Heeseung placed his other hand on the door, caging Jake in between his arms, “He’s not here right now, is he? I’m all you’ve got. Are you going to buy it from me or do you want to go running after him?”
Jake knew this look. It was jealousy. Heeseung was never controlling, but he was possessive and there was a certain air about his jealousy that Jake recognized. He must really like Sunghoon for him to act this way.
He didn’t need to ask anything after all. He got his answer. The best thing for him to do now was to take his weed, the battered remains of his heart, and his sorry ass back to the Ravenclaw dorm where Jay would be waiting with snacks and a hug.
He reached into his robes for his coin purse. Then he reached deeper. He patted the outside pockets, panic quickly setting in. Where was it?
“Um, I must have left my purse - “
“You came here with no money to buy weed from Sunghoon?” Heeseung’s voice was low. “What were you going to pay him with?”
Scandalized, Jake tried to shove Heeseung away, “What the hell are you talking about?”
His back hit the door and Heeseung shoved his nose against his scent glands. Weak in the knees at the feeling of his exes' hard body pressing against him, and drowning in his scent, he clutched onto Heeseung’s shoulders tightly.
“Uhh,” Heeseung tugged on the back of Jake’s hair lightly, giving himself more access to Jake’s neck and nuzzling into him. “What does he have that I don’t? Just use me instead. Pay me the way you were going to pay him.”
“Heeseung, wait - “ Jake was quickly coming to the realization that Heeseung was scenting him.
“Why do you want him,?” Heeseung cupped his chin and forced Jake to look into his eyes. “That asshole, this was all his fault anyway…”
Heeseung’s grip grew slack and Jake took the opportunity to push him away, “What the hell are you talking about? I don’t want Sunghoon! He’s all yours! Isn’t that why you dumped me?”
Heeseung snapped out of his funk for a second. He looked almost lucid and his voice was back to his normal tone when he spoke.
“What? I don’t - I’m not into Sunghoon,” he frowned and cocked his head to the side. “Why would you think that?”
Jake’s jaw dropped, “Maybe because you started spending all your time with him before you broke up with me? Because you gave me the worst reason ever for ending our relationship? What else could it have been?”
“That’s not why I broke up with you,” Heeseung said in a panicked voice, licking his chapped lips nervously. “Jaeyun, I’m sorry - “
“You’re sorry?” Jake’s vision blurred as the tears formed. “Do you know what you put me through? I blamed myself for months! I thought I became such a huge burden to you that you couldn’t handle it anymore and had to push me away! I didn’t even tell my mom we broke up!”
Heeseung let out a pained sound and his scent soured, “No that wasn’t - “
“You could have just told me that you moved on!” Jake sobbed into his palms, unable to look at the alpha in the eyes.
Strong arms wrapped around him and he gasped when he was lifted into the air and carried over to Heeseung’s bed.
“What are you doing?” he demanded.
“Fixing this,” Heeseung said firmly, laying them down beside each other. “I fucked this all up and I need to work it out now or I’ll lose my mind. Will you give me a chance to explain?”
Jake, emotional and confused, could only give a jerky nod in response.
“Sunghoon is my friend and nothing more,” Heeseung said. “He’s a good friend and he’s been through some shit, which is why he transferred schools. It’s not my place to tell you what he went through, but I wanted to be good to him because he needed a friend.”
He watched carefully for Jake’s reaction, and when he found him still listening, he continued.
“He asked me one day about your insomnia, and since you’ve never been secretive about it, I told him. He was worried about you. He scolded me. He said I was doing more harm than good because you could have a serious underlying condition and I was like a band aid on a broken leg.”
Heeseung held onto him tightly as he spoke, as if he was worried Jake would vanish before his eyes.
“He was right. Jaeyun, I’m so sorry. I should have encouraged you to pursue treatment, not act like the answer to all your problems. I thought that if I broke up with you, you would start treatment again and when you were better I could earn you back without using my scent or whatever it was about me that got you to sleep.”
Jake’s tears flowed freely, and Heeseung wiped them away with his thumbs.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t know you were hurting like that. When I broke up with you, you seemed …relieved. You moved on so fast and you looked like you were doing so well. I thought…I thought that maybe you were happier.”
“You asshole!” Jake pulled him into an embrace, melting into the heat emanating from his body in waves and burying his face into Heeseung’s shoulder. “I hate you so much!”
“I’m sorry, Jaeyunie,” Heeseung whispered into his hair. “I was so dumb.”
“Yes, you were!” Jake swung his leg over Heeseung’s body, clinging onto him like a koala. “And so am I. I should have whipped you into shape back then and refused to let you break up with me.”
“Do it now,” Heeseung said softly, pulling back to look at him. “Take me back. I’ll make it up to you, you can hold me to that.”
His hand traced down Jake’s side to rest on his hip. He shuffled them around until Jake could feel the solid press of his erection against his belly. Heeseung groaned at the contact and closed his eyes.
“But, you’re about to go into rut,” Jake flushed.
Heeseung’s eyes were red when he opened them, “I’m already there. I need you. Let me show you I’m serious about this. Let me mate you.”
The intensity of his gaze and the honeyed husk of his voice made Jake tingle all over. The alphas scent was warm and comforting and Jake couldn’t think of a reason why this was a bad idea.
Heeseung tugged at Jake’s robes, eyes flashing when they fell open to reveal only his soft pajama shorts, “You were walking around the castle like this?”
“I was coming to find you!” Jake said. “I was going to ask if you were spending your rut with Sunghoon. That’s why I didn’t bring any money with me.”
Heeseung tried to hide his pleased smile by nuzzling into Jake’s neck again but was pushed back, “Heeseung, is this real or are you saying this because you’re in rut - “
“Jaeyun, I love you.”
Hearing it out loud for the first time made something give inside him. He knew it was true. There was no other explanation for the pure magic he felt when they were together. But listening to the words fall from Heeseung’s mouth sounded so wonderful and lovely that Jake pulled him into a kiss.
Heeseung went feral. He pinned Jake onto the mattress and licked into his mouth, moaning loudly. Gasping at the feeling of a hard dick grinding against his thigh, Jake locked his legs around Heeseung’s waist to keep him there.
The alpha whined and began licking and sucking down Jake’s neck until he reached his scent gland.
He sounded delirious as he scented him and bit on the sensitive skin like a pup.
“Heeseung…” Jake breathed out, his own cock filling out and the first drops of slick beginning to spill.
Heeseung halted his ministrations suddenly and pulled back, spit trailing from his lips down to Jake’s neck. He looked wild, his hair mussed up and his eyes wide with realization. Jake was flipped over so quickly he barely had time to brace himself before his face was hitting Heeseung’s pillow.
By the time he propped himself up on his forearms, his shorts were halfway across the dorm and Heeseung’s face was buried between his cheeks.
“Ahhh,” he moaned, slicking up more with every eager lap of the alphas tongue against his rim.
Sure they had sex before, but Jake hadn’t had so much as a kiss in the last four months, and Heeseung’s rut made everything feel ten times more intense.
He was nasty with it, slurping Jake's slick and squeezing each cheek like a stress ball. He groaned when Jake gushed more syrupy liquid and rubbed on the puffy rim until it gave way and let his fingers in.
“H-Heeseung!” Jake cried out, the feeling of the alpha’s long fingers rubbing against his inner walls and stretching him out almost too much to bear.
“Feel so good inside,” Heeseung mumbled. “Can’t wait to breed you.”
Jake’s eyes rolled back at the filth spewing from Heeseung’s mouth and sent a silent thank you to his mother for putting him on birth control when he heard that he and Heeseung were dating. It was an embarrassing conversation and an even more embarrassing trip to the clinic but at least he wouldn’t have to stress about exams and a possible pregnancy now.
Heeseung had no idea, and it made Jake hotter knowing that the alpha was so far gone that he actually wanted to fuck a pup into him. His hips jerked and he pushed back against Heeseung’s face. He needed the alpha to shut the fuck up or he was going to squirt all over his face before they even began.
Thankfully, he took the hint, and made short work of stretching his hole until Jake was slightly gaping and leaking all over the bed.
Heeseung’s arms came down on either side of his head, and the heated head of his cock slid up and down over his rim.
“Ngh,” he sighed. “Fuck, baby. This looks so crazy. Can’t believe you’re under me like this.”
Jake arched his back and whined, desperately trying to swallow Heeseung’s engorged member.
“Oh my god - “ “AHHH - “
They called out in unison when Heesueng finally sank inside him, stretching him to the point where he felt like he was going to tear in half.
“Ugh, Jaeyun,” Heeseung pressed into him and rested his body over Jake’s back.
The feeling of splitting apart on an enormous cock, the heat of Heeseung’s body, the delicious friction against his slicked up, sensitive inner walls had Jake moaning nonstop and fucking back.
Heeseung thrust into him sharply and whispered into his ear, “You’re all mine. Say it.”
“Mmm, yours!” Jake mumbled.
“Louder,” Heeseung commanded, pulled back, cursing at the sight of his cock slathered in slick, and fucking back into him so hard that Jake’s arms gave out and he fell face first onto the pillow.
“I’m yours!” Jake cried out, drooling against the fabric, shocked at the almost inhuman whimpers and whines coming from his mouth as Heeseung fucked into him earnestly.
“Missed your body, baby,” Heeseung said, pulling aside one of his cheeks to take in the sight of his cock ramming into him. “Could barely control myself when you kept coming over and asking for Sunghoon. Wanted to show everyone that you’re just mine.”
Too busy being impaled on the alphas thick length to properly comprehend his words, Jake merely groaned in response and reached back to spread his ass open wider, loving the way Heeseung went in deep, hitting spots that made his vision blank.
The alpha growled and grabbed his wrist, pinning it to his back and pounding into his mercilessly, “They’ll all know when you’re round with my pup, won’t they? I’m gonna fill you up, baby. Make sure it takes. Gonna keep you on my knot all night.”
The mention of a knot sent Jaeyun’s omega into overdrive. His instincts were running wild Yes! That's exactly what he wanted! He wanted his alpha to breed him.
He clenched tightly, as though the knot was already inside, and fucked himself back on it.
“Holy fuck,” Heeseung said in awe. “Jaeyun, I won’t last if - “
“Please, alpha!” he begged. “Want your knot! Give it to me!”
Heeseung listened well, because for the next few minutes he was fucked him relentlessly, only grunts and squelching sounds filling the air as the alpha put all his effort into pounding into him.
Jake orgasmed again and again, squirting all over Heeseung’s pelvis and wetting the bed. The pure pleasure of being taken and the alpha’s impressive stamina left him no time to recover before the next wave of his release.
Jake almost screamed when he felt the base of Heeseung’s cock start to swell. His tongue lolled out of his mouth and tears flowed freely as his hole was stretched impossibly wider around the girth.
“Jaeyun, I - “
“I want it,” Jake pleaded.
That did it, the alpha’s release was so powerful that the grip he had on Jaeyun’s waist would leave a bruise that lasted a solid two weeks. He sprayed his insides with come. Jake could feel the warm load sloshing around and filling him up and he felt exhausted but sated.
Heeseung’s orgasm lasted a long time, and by the time the last spurt of come entered him, he was hanging off his alpha’s cock, tired and ready to cuddle. Heeseung must have read his mind, because he rolled them over gently so he was in the wet spot, and held him close, scenting him softly and kissing his shoulder.
“Heeseung?” he asked, voice scratchy.
“Yes?”
“Wanna set Jay up with Sunghoon?”
Heeseung’s laugh was familiar and felt like a healing balm. Jake slipped their hands together. He would owl his mother when he got back to his dorm. But for now, all he wanted to do was fall asleep in Heeseung’s arms .
