Work Text:
It's the end of the workday before a day off! And Ares left a note for Achilles wanting some quality time with their loves!
They aren't done with their shift yet, but they left him a key to their room long ago. Achilles has doubles of his products in Ares giant bathroom suite anyway. Waltzing right in and straight to said bathroom.
He sheds off the second skin that is his armor and uniform. Replacing it with his robe never ceases to feel a little euphoric after a hard day of work. Nose and eyes crinkling with the pull of his headband over and up. He's not going to be the one who drips water across the double sink through his hair, thank you very much. Just as his legs lowered his stomach to the soft carpet, so he could retrieve his necessities.
His ears perked at the distant sound of the entrance to Ares' room opening and closing. Heels clicking against tile.
Erebus was automatically ruled out. Clicks too light to be the commanding platforms his beloved Warden wore.
That left only one person...
The bathroom door opened, blonde and pink peeking inside.
His tail wagged just a little.
He made his face drop to compensate.
The little minx just smiled in response, surprisingly lacking teeth.
Achilles sighed and turned back to the cabinet. Not letting them see the upward curve of his lip as he reached for the micellar water in the ironically pink bottle. Steeling his expression back before rising in view of the wall-length mirror. Wordlessly placing his products on his side, and the micellar water with a box of cloth cotton rounds in the middle between the two sinks.
"Puppy had a hard day?"
They were the worst.
"It is now that you're here. And I had to break up a fight today."
Sweet laughter filled the bathroom, making the hyena's lip curl up again. Achilles watching them through the mirror as they unbuttoned their dress.
"Robes are fresh in the linens." He turned the sink on to splash water on his face. Ears swiveling towards the direction of the closet opening.
Muffled in the closet, all he could hear was a, "Yesss, I'm going to make out with Ares the moment they come back just for that!"
He burst into laughter as he lifted his head to grab some cleanser. Songbird hip checking him when they approached the sink. Giggling as they felt a paw bat at their foot blindly, lightly kicking back in response.
Their laughter died down with the dual sinks running taps. Warm silence fell between the two as they washed their faces. Each grabbing a cotton round for different purposes.
Achilles suddenly felt a tail brush against his arm as he was moisturizing. The hyena pausing to look into the mirror.
Songbird huffed lightly. "No, I need you to look at me."
"You always need someone to look at you."
He didn't miss a beat.
A high-pitched giggle filled the bathroom as Songbird rolled their eyes. Pulling on Achilles robe. "Just tell me if I have any make-up left!"
The hyena finally relented, turning and leaning into Songbird's space. The siren couldn't help but smile at those big, tired eyes slowly raking across their face.
No smudges of pink eyeshadow. Eyelids bare of liner. Skin shiny and clean from the micellar water. He rose a finger and dragged it against their hairline for good measure.
No concealer residue was was left behind. "You're in the clear pumpkin." Achilles hummed. Leaning in to peck at Songbird's nose.
That earned him a soft chirp, blond tail feathers swishing against his stomach playfully. His own tail wagging back as he turned to look deep into the mirror. Rubbing the last tiny dollop of moisturizer into his skin just like Ares showed him.
Songbird leaned near his shoulder, eyes switching between the Achilles in the mirror and the one next to them. "That one isn't burning your skin?"
An eager smile stretched across his face. "No! It feels really nice actually. It doesn't feel oily or gross either."
They grinned, reveling in his joy. Knowing how difficult it's been finding anything that didn't irritate the poor hyena's skin.
"It's been working you know."
"Wait... Really?"
He didn't think they'd notice that.
"Yeah! Our puppy's been looking mighty handsome because of it." They cooed.
Achilles smile turned gooey. It wasn't often he got positive comments about his skin. Red eyes looking away from the blond siren. Focusing on a particularly interesting speck of dust in the corner of the counter.

He wanted to do a little fishing for more.
"You're messing with me." He mumbled. Making sure it was loud enough to hear.
Songbird leaned in closer. Gently running their hands underneath his jaw, cupping it as they raised a thumb to press against the corner of his lip.
"That awful dry patch you had here is practically gone. You also stopped complaining about it, so I figured it wasn't concealer anymore." They purred into his ear, thumb gently rubbing the skin. It flicked in response as his cheeks went a little pink.
A warmth filled his chest at that, smile becoming dumber.
"Yeah.. It isn't." He said in a soft voice.
Sweet, bird-like coos filled his ear as one of the hands gripped his jaw. Turning him to meet his lips in a gentle kiss.
"Shower together?" Achilles breathed out when they pulled away.
"Mmm-hm, don't get your face wet Cupcake." Songbird mumbled against his lips.
