Chapter Text
He stared at you. It didn't help you where both crammed inside of some sort of military grade truck. But all he did was stare at you. And he stared through those red glasses of his. You just wanted to slap that smug look off his face, even though you couldn't see it because of the glasses and the metal mask.
After what seemed to feel like an hour, but was only truly 15 minutes, he tore his eyes off you and began staring at his feet. Good. The smug bastard wasn't staring at you like you were some sort of 'eye-candy ' anymore. It's not like he would view you that way. He's not that much of an idiot. Well, you could always beg to differ I guess.
"Y'gonna stare at me again?" Your voice cuts through the interesting silence, you caught his attention. K-9 looked up at you, after momentarily staring at his hand, and huffed.
"... no." His voice was.. soft. Too soft for the killing machine he is. You didn't say anything about it though, but you made a mental note to do so later.
He was... interesting to say the least, well interesting enough for you to want to speak to him. Everyone else would've screamed and ran off pissing themselves by now. But not you... why not you? Maybe it was the fact that you were in a moving vehicle, maybe it was because he didn't scare you. K-9 went back to staring at the floor, the poor bastard had no-one, not even anyone to trust except himself. After staring at the floor again, K-9 looked up but not directly at you. He rolled his eyes, adjusting those stupid red glasses.
"One hour and twenty minutes before we arrive at base." That was... oddly specific, but coming out of K-9? It could've been suspected.
"How do you know that?" You retaliated, your voice angrier than usual. But he didn't say anything, the only thing that spoke volumes was the sudden silence that fell over you both quicker than a smoke grenade going off.
"Thanks for the informative answer." You were pushing him, and you knew it; but the fun that let off was too much to resist. Anyways, who in their right minds wouldn't want to piss off some Hydra killing machine just for a laugh. I mean, truly, he was a force to BE reckoned with, so why not do it now? Here, in this stupidly slow moving vehicle.
"K-9," you addressed him directly. Yet, he didn't look up. He just stared at those fucking boots he wore. Then, he looked up. His eyes that perpetual glossy 'who are you, what the fuck are you talking to me for" look.
"What?" God he was stupid. Or.. he wasn't. You could decide that.
"Why do you always look like a stick got shoved up your ass?" What a way to get to the point..
Silence.
Silence that lasted way too longer than it should have. You sighed, glancing out the window watching the terrain roll by. He groaned, shifting his position to a straighter one.
"You look stressed," he regarded. He looked you up and down, sighing.
"I'm not going to hurt you, you know that right?" he mumbled, avoiding eye-contact before staring back at you. Well, of course you knew he wouldn't. He was too afraid of messing up his task. He waited for your answer, or even just the slightest bit of recognition. But it never came. So, he backed down. He fell silent again.
