'This is insane' Steve thought as the party is gathered underneath the WSQK building forming a plan to kidnap the Turnbow's, specifically 'dipshit' Derek. This was the most illegal thing they're going to do so far, but the fact that Nancy wheeler is orchestrating everything puts Steve more at ease.
The only problem Steve has though, isn't the fact that they're breaking and entertaining, isn't the fact that they're drugging people, but instead its that Johnathan fucking Byers won't stop trying to give him death threats telepathically. Steve doesn't understand it, what had he done this time? Was it the fight in the van? Was it that Steve had accidentally been obnoxious again? Steve is wracking his brain trying to think of what he had done.
'The last time we talked was about Nancy.....NANCY' Steve had just realised that he's leaning right over Nancy's side, just like he had done with Eddie back when.... nevermind. He can't blame Jonathan for looking like he's trying to shoot lasers out of his eyes, Steve clearly looks like he's trying to get with his girlfriend. He's not though, definitely not. And he's tried to defend himself so many times, but it's difficult to convince an overly protective boyfriend that he's not interested in dating said boyfriends very beautiful girlfriend who he had been with previously - without giving away that he's oh so very gay. Maybe not as gay as Bucky but she's--
"Steve!"
He looks up to see where his name was called, only to see a very annoyed Nancy looking deeply offended that he just zoned out though her very in depth, totally not insane kidnapping plan.
"Did you hear any of that" She said exasperated
"Of course of course, every word" Steve said back with an awkward reassuring smile.
"Right.. ok let's go then people, move it!"

The plan had gone perfectly. Almost. Now Steve is, right after running over a Demogorgon with his car, staring into a gate to the upside down trying to convince the three others in the car that it could be a 'bopper'. This is insane. And yet he's driving into it anyway, praying that for once in his life he is right about something concerning the upside down.
They made it through, holy shit they made it through!
Steve was actually right about something! But now everyone is yelling at him, each saying something different before it gets to a collective:
"WALL!"

"For fucks sake of course this would happen" Steve said to himself looking at his car, annoyed with the position that it's in. He can hear Dustin loudly explaining some science theory to Nancy and Johnathan inside the church when he suddenly hears a loud bang like somethings been dropped.
Steve drops everything as he knows what dangers are in here, and rushes to the church. Inside he sees Nancy and Johnathan clutching each other frantically in one of the pews, and Dustin looking fear stricken with his walky that he must of dropped next to his feet. Then Steve's eyes shift up to see a shadowed figure standing at the altar. The figure is tall and lean, with what looks like talons coming from it's fingers - Steve has learnt to recognise danger from his many years living along with this hell scape, and seeing those fingers gives goose bumps all over his skin. But then it smiled, putting it's sharp teeth on show. Steve still couldn't see the figure properly - but there's something about that smile that Steve recognises .... 'Wait'
"Eddie..?" It's barely a whisper but in a building like this Steve's unsure voice travels as far as the back of the church.
'Surely it can't be, right?' Steve thinks, 'After all these years he would of come back to me, right?'
He can see 'Eddie's' gaze sweeping over everyone before finally landing on him.
"Hi Stevie" he says taking a step forward, looking a little uneasy, scared.
Eddie looks different, he's paler, almost grey, and his eyes have a strange demonic glow. But 'stevie', Steve hasn't heard that name in a long time, and only his Eddie called him that.
This is insane. Eddie's dead, Steve mourned him. And yet, Steve is so sure that that Eddie is his Eddie.
So he takes a step forward, then another and another before he is practically running down the aisle to meet Eddie at the altar. He takes Eddie in a massage bear hug and he feels Eddie's arms snap up around him as if on instinct.
"It's ok baby I'm here" Eddie says while smoothing the back of Steve's hair down. Steve can feel his tears dripping down his face as he finally looks up and gets a proper look at Eddie's face. He looks exactly like he did when they left his body here, only....alive. Steve soaks him all in as he raises his hand and caresses Eddie's cheek, wiping away small tears. They then both lean in to kiss each other, just like they have a million times before. Only this time it's interrupted with a "Holy shit" from an exasperated Dustin.
"So," Nancy started "want to tell us what that whole thing was back there?"
Eddie and Steve side eyed each other carefully before giving a small nod.
"Yeah about that," Steve went to hold Eddie's hand "eds and I have actually been dating for a while, like before the whole...you know" "me dying" Eddie helpfully jumped in. "Yeah that" Steve grimiest.
"AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME!?" Said a visibly shocked Dustin, then Jonathan, who's looked mildly confused this whole time states "wait so you weren't trying to get with Nancy?"
Theres a few seconds of silence before both Steve and Nancy shout out a "NO" whilst Eddie is manically giggling in the background. Jonathan manages to get out a meek "Jesus ok sorry" to which a still laughing Eddie responds "Don't say the lords name in vain in his place of worship!" While he's getting pushed off by a smiling Steve who's pretending to be annoyed.

As they're packing up to leave and go and investigate Dustin's theory, Nancy stops Steve and Eddie and asks them "Hey do you guys think you could speak to Mike for me? He's got some... conflicted feelings, if you know what I mean" Steve responds with a confused "Yeah of course Nance" Eddie says in turn "Don't worry I'll explain it to him later" with a wink while pushing Steve towards the ever growing frustrated Dustin standing outside the church.
