Ugh you’ve got to be kidding. Kris struggled yet again to tie their neck tie. As they struggled with it, their fingers slipped it into a messy, knotted mess.
You’d think after years of dressing formally for work, they’d be able to at least tie their stupid tie. Wrong. That’s why they usually wore a bow tie. But unfortunately, they couldn’t find a bow tie that fit this occasion.
It was the day of their best friend, Susie’s, wedding, and they had to look put together because they were the best man. Well they weren’t a man, but that was beside the point. Susie was marrying Noelle, so it made sense that their wedding was around christmas, and themed as such. Red, green, or gold. They didn’t want to buy a new bow tie that they’d never wear again, so they reluctantly borrowed one of Rudy’s old ties.
Kris had known Noelle all their life and Susie since high school. They’d been trying to set them up since freshman year, so it was refreshing to see how far the couple had come. Noelle and Susie had moved in with each other in a small place in hometown after graduating college, and Kris had come back from composing school around the same time.
Composing school was a lot of fun, but they knew they’d never make it in the industry so they’d quit and decided to apply for a job at the local agency. Their dad had worked there before becoming a cop, so their chances of getting the job were high. And when they did get hired, they were surprised to find Susie working there also. They reconnected, worked together on a lot of cases, and the rest was history.
Susie had been there for them through some tough times, including almost loosing their home, getting arrested (it wasn’t their fault for the record, they were falsely accused), and an extremely messy breakup that had happened a month ago. And today they got to be there for her- but not only her, also their childhood friend Noelle, who they considered a sister.
But then, why did they dread the wedding more than they loved being there for their friends? There were a lot of possibilities, maybe it reminded them of their love life and how pathetic it was, or maybe being around Carol Holiday and having to deal with her blatant disapproval of Susie, but no matter what it was, they had a feeling it was going to be a long day.
They heard a knock at the door. “Hey, Kris, you coming? I can’t get married without a best man- or should I say best- uh- them? Nah that’s lame.” Classic Susie.
“I know what you mean- I’ll be out in a minute.” They said, still struggling with their tie. Ugh. You know what? Whatever. They gave up and just kept it in a knot.
