Work Text:

The room was still dim and when Robin woke up, which is not what she was used to. Usually, she woke up being blinded by sunlight through the curtains.

After adjusting to being awake, she noticed something. Something unusual. It was after 7 am, and Nancy hadn't moved. She was still cuddling into Robin's side. Nancy was always awake before 7. Something was wrong–she could tell.

Robin slowly and carefully shifted her body slightly to face Nancy without waking her. She leaned in and planted a soft kiss on the shorter girl's forehead, but pulled back quickly–she was way too warm.

She heard a small groan before watching Nancy eyes slowly open, as if she didn't want to wake up. Then she noticed something else. Nancy was usually quite pale, that's just the way she was, but not this pale.

"Morning," Nancy mumbled, cuddling in closer to Robin.

"Morning Nance," Robin softly whispered back. "You okay?"

"Mhm," she nodded.

"Somehow I dont believe that," Robin smiled, half-joking. "You're usually up by now–are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine."

Robin knew Nancy well enough to know what those two words meant. They confirmed that Nancy was indeed not fine

"What time is it?" Nancy mumbled, slightly pulling away from Robin.

"Half past 7," she answered, observing the somewhat shocked expression on Nancy's face. She clearly didn't expect to wake up so late.

The two girls reluctantly untangled from eachother and dragged themselves out of bed. Robin hated getting out of bed, she was not a morning person, but she couldn't stay in bed. Nancy was obviously sick–not matter how many times she said she wasn't–and would need Robin sooner or later.

Robin started getting dressed as her girlfriend made her way to the bathroom. She changed into a pair of slightly ripped jeans and a baggy shirt before heading downstairs.

A few minutes passed before Robin head shuffling behind her. She felt her girlfriend's arms wrapping around her waist, followed by Nancy's unusually warm body pressing against hers.

"You okay?" She asked–for the third time that morning.

"Mhm," Nancy groaned.

"Liar," Robin joked. "I wasn't sure if you would want any, but I made you some coffee anyway."

Nancy shook her head. "I'm good," she smiled, her voice quiet–too quiet.

Robin turned around to face Nancy and wrapped her arms around her. "You do not look well at all," she said softly.

Her girlfriend hummed in response, laying her head on Robin's chest.

"Are you really okay?" Robin asked, knowing that the answer she was about to get would be a lie.

"Yeah, I-" Nancy started to say before her body betrayed her.

She quickly pulled away from Robin and headed for the stairs. Robin knew exactly what was happening, and followed her without hesitation. By the time she caught up, Nancy was already hunched over the toilet.

"Hey," Robin dropped to her knees beside her, holding Nancy's hair back with one hand and rubbing her back with the other. "It's okay."

After a few minutes Nancy let herself fall into Robin's arms. Robin could feel her girlfriend shaking as she pulled her in closer.

"You good?" Robin asked, rubbing her hand up and down Nancy's arm.

Nancy nodded slowly. "Mhm."

———

Later that day, Robin found herself sitting on her couch with Nancy–who was wrapped in a blanket, despite having a fever–cuddled into her side. Nancy had refused to leave Robin's side all day–which Robin thought was strange yet adorable. She had never seen Nancy be that clingy before.

She glanced down at Nancy and was not surprised to see her completely asleep. She gently leaned down and planted a kiss on her forehead. She knew that she would probably catch whatever sickness Nancy had, but she didn't care.
