The Insta story goes up ‘accidentally’. Just a picture of the two of them in sleek suits, Harry’s pale blue, Chris’s sage green, confetti floating over them.
Harry deletes it after a minute and a half, immediately searching for the reposts on TikTok, Tumblr and reddit, laughing as the reactions roll in. Confusion. Disbelief. Distrust.

What kind of FPL forfeit is this?
Chat, is this real?
Screaming! I have prayed for times like this!
I fucking knew it
They never mention it. Not in a Sidemen Sunday. Not on Sidecast. Not in any of Chris’s videos. People begin to question whether it was even real, putting it down to it being AI, even with the posters assuring them that they had screenshotted it from Harry’s account.

It begins to die down, people putting it aside as one of those little Harry-isms. Chris uploads a video on the ‘ChrisMD but shorter’ channel.
Moments on the ChrisMD channel that gave us pause
It’s a compilation of moments of Harry and Chris. But to add to the confusion, they’re completely normal clips. No euphemisms, no flirting, just good football moments and a few of their best jokes, them ribbing those around them.
The comments are full again.

A year passes by with neither them, or their friends around them, making reference to the post, or to the event itself.
Not a single picture or story is shared about the day, respect for Harry and Chris’s choice keeping everyone quiet. Nobody responds to stream comments about it, YouTube and Insta comments are ignored, everybody acts as though they don’t exist. That it never happened.
Harry lines up a sponsored Reddit video to go live on the anniversary of the Insta story. He knows full well the picture will be there. In fact, he’s banking on it.
At first, he scrolls right past it, wanting to give off the impression that he will continue to pay it no attention. But when the next post regarding it comes into view, he lets out a little chuckle.
“Oh, yeah. That happened.” He says lightly, saying nothing more and moving on to the next post.
It has the exact effect both of them were hoping for.
Was that a confirmation? Is he telling us they’re actually married???
Was that just acknowledging the insta post? Or was that a hard launch?
Guys, my heart can’t take this. Just tell us!!!
I honestly think they’re just messing with us at this point. This is some kind of fucked up social experiment.
I don’t need a confirmation. We been knew. The writings been on the wall for like five years.

After the Reddit video, they get a little more lax with the hints.
Chris appears in an Among Us session where the boys are using the ‘Lover’ mod, Harry vocalising at least once his disappointment not to be paired with Chris, Chris going on to make a sneaky comment about Josh stealing his man.

The Sidemen film a large scale football challenge, favourite friends of the Sidemen making guest appearances, teams of two battling against each other. Chris and Harry are paired up. Obviously. They spend the entire video giggling and trying to sabotage the other teams.

Then, to top it all off, Chris films another ‘** Women Vs 1 YouTuber’ video.
They invite 39 women, upping it from the previous edition. Then, they introduce the final contestant. Harry.
None of them act as though he’s anything but a regular contestant, giving no indication that it's out of the ordinary. Not even the girls involved, understanding the objective immediately.
Harry ends up winning, pretending to be overjoyed about winning the £1k. (He subtly hands it off to the runner up when the cameras are no longer rolling, thanking her for being a good sport.)
Surely this is the confirmation now?
Look I don’t even care, this is canon in my mind whether they like it or not.

Chris is the one who takes on the responsibility of finally putting the viewers (and all their long suffering friends that had been sworn to secrecy for far too long) out of their misery.
He tasks his editors with quite the mammoth job, going back through the archives of his channel, Harry’s channel, Simon’s channel, the Sidemen channel, and so on and so forth, searching for the right clips.
The first moment they were on camera together. The growth of them as people separately, but still so distinctly intertwined. The secret smiles that had been caught by the cameras, but not the editors. The laughs that had them looking like they were the only people in the room. The touches that were a little familiar to be strictly platonic. The red herrings of other suitors, specifically designed to throw the audience off.
And finally, the original video that the instagram story still had been taken from. The pristine suits, glowing smiles, intertwined hands, as they make their way past their beaming friends, confetti fluttering softly over their heads.
They agree that it’s not main channel appropriate, mostly because it’s already cringey enough to be posting it, let alone to Chris’s main.
They had toyed with the idea of posting it to Harry’s channel, just to blow peoples minds even more, that the one video that would bring him back was the final admission of their truth.
But eventually, it joins the previous tease on ‘ChrisMD but shorter’, the title being something Chris is particularly proud of.
Guys stop being silly they knew it was legal
