Life had been pretty good lately for Cthoni, she was able to bake cookies and a few other beginner recipes thanks to Semiu showing her how, and Jabber had been staying out of trouble, at least in the way of he hadn't been coming back bleeding out from 4 different places (much to his dissapointment she was sure).
Additionally Zodyl allowed her to have the weekend off, something that bringing him cookies definitely helped with. Now all she needed to do was call Semiu, and hope she would be able to take the weekend or at least one of those days off so Cthoni could ask her out.
It was ironic thinking about it, they literally had sex, and baked together at Cthoni's house and yet they hadn't gone on an actual date yet. It did start becoming a recurring thing every other time they talked, they would joke about how they should go on an actual date soon. It was always some kind of work related scheduling conflict that was stopping them from being able to do so. It did make Cthoni question what kind of job Semiu had after all the reason it was hard for her to get days off was because she was an integral member of the raiders, her vital instrument was how they were able to get into and out of all sorts of places and how they were able to get away when trouble (Cleaners and Hell Guard) showed up.
It was hard to picture what kind of job Semiu might have. In the beginning Cthoni assumed that with her fashion sense she might work at some kind of clothing or jewelry store, but that guess went down the drain very quickly. Once she talked to her without any alcohol in her system and a lower, but still present amount of flirting, she could tell Semiu payed attention to things, like to an extreme amount. She also watched things, Cthoni wasn't an idiot, she saw the subtle ways Semiu looked at her coworkers when she was giving her baking lessons, and they were calculating looks, careful, discerning ones. Ones that were so slight and careful that they would go over any normal persons head.
Cthoni, however wasn't a "normal" person in the slightest, but she also knew that she didn't catch every subtle glance or shift in Semiu's eyes, and that let her know that Semiu must be a master at reading people. Even if the looks decreased throughout the night, as a raider that should've made her keep her distance...but Semiu was...different, she was amazing, every shift in her eyes told Cthoni that she was taking in information, what kind of information Cthoni couldn't tell, she also couldn't tell if that scared her or turned on...or both. Not many people impressed her like that after all.
Ever sense she walked up to her at that bar Cthoni could tell there was something about her, it was only a few days and conversations later that Cthoni realized she was falling, and the day she came over to help with the baking made her fall harder. With every conversation they would had she knew she was just falling harder and harder. On the inside at least, she was basically acting like a child with a crush, was it far off? No. Was it embarrassing at least? Yes, very much so.
Thankfully her choker went off and snapped her out of her thoughts, even though she'd probably return to them later, going back and trying to figure out what kind of job Semiu has.
Cthoni answered the call from her choker, "Hello"
"Hey Cthoni! How've you been?"
She recognized the voice as Semiu's, which brought a small smile to her face. This would be a good time to finally ask her out.
"I've been doing well, work's been...calm lately, and Jabber is...keeping out of trouble"
"Well that's good, things have been pretty normal over here", "Actually my coworkers kid and his friend stashed an entire plate of sweets the other day, and were bouncing off the walls until the inevitable sugar crash at 4 a.m. it was entertaining though" Cthoni heard Semiu chuckle after telling the story.
"That reminds me of a time when Jabber was younger and he ate an entire box of cupcakes, the results were...rough", Cthoni recalled when she had to hold Jabber's hair back while he threw up from eating all the cupcakes. He still holds a grudge against cupcakes to this day.
"Damn, the biggest consequences we had was just that one of the kids was upset her onesie got dirty"
"Kids do gain attachments to things, then again I would be upset too if something I cared about got dirty"
There was a moment of silence that came over them, Cthoni thought this would be a good time to ask her out. At least it'd be better then stalling for the rest of the conversation.
Semiu started to speak again, "Y'know I've been wondering...what do you think of-"
"Would you like to go on a date this weekend?" Crhoni had said it fast enough that she wasn't sure if Semiu actually understood or not.
Cthoni sighed before continuing, "I apologize if it's sudden I just wasn't sure I would get around to it unless I said it as soon as I could"
"No, no it's fine. I get it, and hey it's about time we went on an actual date huh?", a light teasing tone was placed over Semiu's words.
"Yes... I was able to get this weekend off from my boss, but I wasn't sure if you would be able to as well"
"I'm sure I can at least get a day off, I'll ask my boss and call you later to confirm, then we can hopefully start planning this date", Cthoni didn't think she'd ever miss that flirting tone in Semiu's voice.
"That's good, I'll talk to you later then?"
"Definitely sweetheart"
With that they said their goodbyes and Cthoni stayed sitting in her living room trying to get her face back to her usual pale complexion and away from the pink tint she knew it took on.

Semiu had been on her lunch break when she called Cthoni, she thought she'd call her just to catch up a bit before she would go back to her front desk duties. She didn't think she would get asked out but it definitely wasn't an unpleasant outcome. She was happy that they'd finally be able to go on a date that had practically turned into an inside joke between them, at least before Cthoni asked her today.
All Semiu had to do now was ask Corvus for a day or two off, it wouldn't be super hard, work had been calmer then usual ("calmer" is still tough though) so she wasn't having to eye the phone all day and go through a whole lot of mission reports, with some breaks for...heath supplements.
Corvus was a good boss, despite the frequent leaving for unspecified amounts of time, he didn't want anyone to be overworked so asking for a day off wasn't too hard. Then again seeing it was a Thursday it was definitely gonna be a little tough.
No point in waiting any longer though. So with a push out of her chair she walked over to Corvus' office and knocked on the large door.
"Come in"
With those two words she pushed open the door and stepped into Corvus' office.
"Semiu, what can I help you with?", a soft smile was plastered on Corvus' face as he turned his chair and himself to fully face Semiu, a cup of coffee in hand.
"Hey boss, I was wondering if I could get the weekend off, or at least one of the days off?", she stood in front of his desk as he took a sip of his coffee.
"Well it is fairly late notice, but I'm sure I can work something out", he placed his cup down to pull out a folder that contained most of the cleaners and supporters schedules for the month and looked over it carefully, "I'm not sure about the full weekend but you are able to have Saturday off, I'll notify you later if the full weekend becomes a possibility", he put the folder back into a drawer and picked his cup of coffee back up.
"That'll work for me. Thanks boss"
"Of course, and if you don't mind me asking, what did you need a day off for? Usually when you need a day off it isn't as late notice"
"Well, I'm finally getting to go on a date", Semiu smiled at him before turned to exit the office.
"Good for you then", Just as Semiu was about to open the door Corvus spoke again. "Also Semiu if anyone asks I'm going out for a bit tomorrow. Should be back in a couple days"
"I'll make sure to tell them you'll be back in a few weeks", she heard him chuckle before she left the office and started walking back to her desk.
On her way back she passed Enjin in the hallway.
"Someone looks happy, the cafeteria finally restock the coffee cake?", He flashed her a joking grin after he spoke.
"Actually I've got a date this weekend", she responded back to him and continued her walk back to her desk.
"WHAT?! WHEN DID YOU START DATING SOMEONE?" He looked back at her, extremely confused while she continued walking. She could hear his confused mumbling.

Cthoni had gotten the reply from Semiu an hour or two after she called her and asked her out. Semiu said she would be free on Saturday, which then let them go over where they should go for the date.
"I know a good restaurant nearby that has some damn good wings, there's another one that's a little farther but the dessert there is freakin' delicious", Semiu was listing off a few of the many restaurants they had started with. Thankfully they were able to crack down the list.
"Hm...how spicy are the wings?"
"Well you can adjust the spice level, but trust me anything over a four is just asking for pain"
Yeah that would work.
"That sounds good, I might get something to-go for Jabber, he probably needs more protein anyways, and I don't hate spice"
Cthoni heard a chuckle from the other end.
"Y'know for someone who calls her coworkers 'annoyances' you sure do care about one of 'em at least"
"It's not my fault he doesn't eat proper nutritients, he might be taking after Zodyl in some aspects of his diet"
While Jabber hadn't gotten to eating insects and...other things, he probably wasn't far from doing so. If she was able to, she'd at least prefer him to eat any animals after they're cooked.
"Mmhhm, sounds like you're tryin' to deny being basically a mother figure to that kid", Cthoni could almost hear the grin most likely on Semiu's face.
"I am not a-", maybe she was, "...moving on", "Should we meet at the restaurant or would you like me to pick you up?"
"I'll have someone drop me off, but maybe after the date we can go back to your house? Continue the date there?"
Well she definitely wasn't opposed to being alone with Semiu again.
"I like that idea, it would be nice be in my house alone with you again", The attempted subtleness of the flriting was failing, but it was better then the flirting being too subtle.
They continued to talk for a little longer until Semiu eventually had to go back to work.
"Well I'll see ya this weekend hun, bye~"
"I'm looking forward to it, goodbye", Semiu would slip in a pet name everyone in a while, and Cthoni wasn't opposed but she also wasn't used to it either. Semiu was probably the only one who called her things like that. Cthoni would probably never get used to it, but hopefully her reactions to them would simmer down, it seemed like every time Semiu would do anything minorly flirty Cthonis face would start to heat up. She really needed to work on that.
Cthoni heard a crash come from the second bedroom, a sign that Jabber had gotten back. It didn't take long for the door to the bedroom to fly open and reveal a very excited Jabber, who then ran up to where Cthoni was seated on the couch.
"YO YO, CTHONI GUESS WHAT!"
"What?"
"SO I WAS RUNNIN' SOME ARRANDS FOR BOSSMAN AND WHEN IM COMIN' BACK HERE THIS RANDO GUY SHOWS UP AND TRIES TO ROB ME!"
Shockingly these types of stories weren't exactly uncommon for the ground or for Jabber, so Cthoni let him continue.
"IT WAS AWESOME. The guy was totally weak but he had this crazy hallucinogen on him, so after beating him up a little I brought it back with me! Wanna try it out!"
As much as Cthoni would "love" to ingest hallucinogens with most likely the world's worst trip sitter she decided against it.
"I'm alright"
"Awwww you're no fun" Jabber put on a small pouty face before digging through one of the bags he had.
"Jabber, do you have any plans on Saturday?"
"Hmmmm, I dont think so, why?"
"Me and Semiu are going to go out on a date Saturday night and then come back here after-"
Jabber put a hand up to signal her to stop talking.
"Yeah yeah, don't worry I know what 'my dates coming over' means, I'll just hang out with Momoa or something. Ooohhh maybe I can finally get Zodyl to change his tv channel from: 'staticky white noise' to somethin' entertaining!"
"Just don't ingest too many weird toxins, we've already had to take you to a doctor twice this month"
"Eh, no promises"

While Enjin was Semiu's usual "person to drive her places" his confusion earlier would amplify more when she told him someone else dropped her off, and seeing his face was an opportunity she couldn't pass up. The someone else then walked passed her desk.
"Hey Gris! You got a second?"
"Oh, Semiu, yeah I do, what do you need?"
"You think you'd be able to drop me off somewhere on Saturday?"
"Yeah probably, what for?"
"I've got plans with someone that night, plans that'll end up with us back at her house and I'd rather not leave leave my car in a parking lot"
"Well good for you, what time do you wanna leave?", Gris pulled out a small notepad and started writing things down.
"Around six'll work"
"Alright! I'll be by the front at six then"
"Great, thanks Gris", Gris nodded before continuing on his walk.
Now the last things to do were just to plan an outfit and hope she doesn't fall asleep to Gris' driving.

She does in fact fall asleep to Gris' driving, but in her defense the man could probably put a trash beast to sleep with the way he drives.
After she got to the restaurant Gris waved good bye and drove off, leaving her to go into the restaurant and find were Cthoni was sitting.
It didn't take very long to spot the pop of blue near the back of the restaurant.
"Hey there, long time no see", Semiu teased as she took a seat in the booth across from Cthoni.
Cthoni was to put it lightly, gorgeous. She was wearing a tight cropped turtleneck shirt under a light jacket that was off her shoulders. She also had some dark baggy pants on with black boots.
She looked up from her menu and smiled at Semiu.
"It has been a bit, I'm glad you could make it"
With a sigh Semiu settled into booth, "Me too. Now shall we let the date commence?"
"We shall" Cthoni smiled once again.
Soon enough they started talking about their days and whatever crazy thing one of their coworkers said or did this time.

The rest of the date continued on with them talking, eating, and flirting. It was nice, it had been a while for both of them since they'd joked and talked about all sorts of subjects with someone they liked. By all accounts the date went extraordinarily well, and now they were driving back to Cthoni's house where the rest of the date would (hopefully) continue to go well, and if Semiu was lucky, get even better.
"Y'know I haven't been on many dates but this one will be going in my top three" Cthoni said while she fished through the pantry for some kind of alcohol. Semiu had already made herself comfortable on the couch and had placed Eyes on the small coffee table in front of her.
She didn't usually take off Eyes but it's not like she would need them tonight, and she trusted Cthoni.
"Aww~ only cracked the top three, not top spot yet?" Semiu teased.
"I only said it would be in the top three I never said where in the top three", Cthoni emerged from the kitchen with a bottle of wine, another bottle of looked like some kind of vodka, and two glasses. She set them down on the coffee table and noticed Semiu's glasses were on the table.
"Won't it make it hard to see without those?", Cthoni pointed at the glasses.
"They're non-perscription, don't actually need 'em to see"
"I see, so they're like decoration, or an accessory"
"Kinda, they were a gift"
Cthoni nodded with an understanding hum. She pored the wine into the glasses and handed Semiu hers.
They sat there for a little in a comfortable silence, sipping their drinks whe Cthoni found a movie they could watch.
Thirty minutes into the movie they were definitely more than tipsy.
"I swear I didn't realize this was a cheesy rom-com", Cthoni had held her head with one hand when her other was holding her empty glass.
"Sometimes I'll indulge in a bad romance movie, but I'm gonna need more alcohol to get through this one", Semiu reached forward to grab the wine bottle and took a swig from it.
"Want some?", she handed it over to Cthoni.
"Please", Cthoni said before bringing the bottle to her lips and leaning to rest on Semiu's side.
Cthoni looked back down at the coffee table. Semiu's glasses caught her eye.
"Who gave you your glasses?"
Semiu looked down at her before looking back at the TV.
"My grandma, she was awesome", Semiu took a sip from her glass, which contained the vodka.
"Huh...I never knew my grandma"
Semiu was pretty drunk at this point but Cthoni would probably be wasted within the next few minutes.
"Yeah? Grandparents on my dad's side died before I was born, never got to meet 'em", Semiu took another sip from her drink. "You have any aunts or uncles?"
"I don't think so", Cthoni words were getting a little slower, and her was leaning against Semiu a bit more.
"Hmm...Oh! Any siblings?", Semiu looked over at the other woman.
With that question the finger that was lazily circling the opening of the wine bottle stopped moving. Cthoni took another drink from the bottle and slid down, resting her head on Semiu's lap. Semiu put a hand in Cthonis hair and combed through it slowly.
Eventually Cthoni spoke up, "Used to"

Semiu, even in her drunken state realized this was probably sensitive territory, so she decided to try and move the conversation to something else but Cthoni started to say something.
"I had six siblings and I was younger but...I don't know where they are now"
"Oh shit, that's-..I'm so-"
"It's fine...I tried looking for them when I was younger but, soon after that I met Jabber and keeping him out of trouble was a full-time job", Cthoni, seemingly finished, took another drink before Semiu slowly took the bottle from her hands and placed it back onto the coffee table.
Semiu didn't expect to hear some trauma dumping tonight but apparently that was gonna happen.
There was one thing Semiu did want to know though.
"When did you meet Jabber?"
"..I was eighteen I think and he was nine... I'm pretty sure- I don't know", Cthoni draped her arm on top of her face.
"Huh...you sure your not his mom?", Semiu teased with a smirk on her face.
Cthoni uncovered her eyes, clearly unamused. She grabbed one of the pillows next to Semiu and playfully threw it at her.
"Hey!-", She tried to dodge the pillow before she sent it back to Cthoni, it wasn't that hard since she was in her lap. Semiu started to laugh after failing to avoid the pillow assault, partially from the pillow and partially from the amount of alcohol in her system.
Cthoni was looking up from Semiu's lap, watching her laugh, which caused her to let out a chuckle or two herself. Before long they were both laughing, the alcohol was most likely the culprit for it but there was genuine entertainment and enjoyment from the two women.
After the laughing died down a bit, Semiu was still chuckling, and Cthoni was looking up at her like she was the most gorgeous woman on the ground. Which wasn't that far off.
"You're pretty"
Semiu looked down at Cthoni with a soft smile on her face.
"And you're gorgeous"
They looked into each others eyes for a while as Cthoni's hand slowly made it's way up Semiu's side and came to rest on the side of her face, Semiu's face slowly came closer to hers and placed her own hand on top of Cthoni's. Their faces came close enough for them to smell the alcohol coming off their breath.
Cthoni wasn't much of an impulsive person, but right now she didn't care if there would somehow be unforeseeable consequences from this, right now she wanted to kiss her.
When their lips met their was an undeniable taste of alcohol, both Cthoni's hands were on the sides of Semiu's face, and Semiu was gently caressing her hip. They tilted their heads to the side, deepening the kiss. Semiu's tongue grazed Cthoni's lips subtlety asking for permission, in response Cthoni pulled away from the kiss, pushing Semiu back lightly so she could sit up and straddle her lap. As soon as she sat down she passionately dove back into the kiss and put her arms around her head, while Semiu's hand came to rest on her thighs and slowly rose up to grasp her waist. Their tongues eagerly entered each others mouths as they deepened the kiss, their tongues grazed each others teeth, Cthoni hadn't kissed many people before, but she was sure it couldn't get better than this. Hands began caressing different parts of their bodies. The room started getting hotter, moans could be heard throughout the room, Cthoni broke the kiss only for a second to push off Semiu's jacket and then pressed her body close to her again.
Cthoni pulled away from the kiss and slowly made her way down Semiu's jaw and to her neck, peppering kisses along the way down. Semiu tilted her head to the side, giving her more room to kiss and bite her neck, slowly making her way to Semiu's collarbone.
Cthoni looked up at Semiu, the smell of alcohol and saliva dressed over her lips.
"You're beautiful, in everything you do, when you look at people and take in all sorts of information...it's hot"
"Hmm, glad perceptiveness is a turn on for yo-mmph!", Cthoni bit down on Semiu's collarbone and lightly licked over the bite.
At some point during the night they eventually made their way to Cthoni's room to continue with the night.

It was bright and something was making noise, that was all Semiu could make out when she woke up after...what was she doing last night?
Oh right.
OH.
SHE NEEDED TO GET TO WORK!
She tried to sit up but the hangover from last night was not helping with that. She looked over next to her and saw Cthoni, her head tucked into her pillow to try to block the light, Semiu didn't miss the hickeys and bite marks that were scattered over Cthoni's neck.
"You awake?", Semiu said quietly, she thought at least, the pounding in her head really wasn't helping with anything.
Semiu got a tired, aggravated groan in response from Cthoni.
"Yeah sounds about right...Y'want me to make some coffee?"
Chtoni grumbled out what sounded like a "sure", and Semiu slowly got herself out of bed and, as quickly as she could (which wasn't very fast), and put on her shirt and pants from the night before, gingerly leaving the bedroom to go make some well needed coffee for her and Cthoni.
"Fun date night?", a voice said from the kitchen.
Semiu looked farther into the kitchen to find Jabber, along with a teenage girl with medium length grayish hair and headphones over her ears, both sitting on the floor eating wings from a styrofoam take-out box.
"It was until I realized I need to get to work", Semiu grabbed some of the instant coffee and poured into two cups.
"Seriously? When am I gonna tell ya' about my experiments!"
"Don't let him tell you things, you'll be stuck there for like five hours", the girl sitting next to Jabber spoke up.
"I don't think we've met, I'm Semiu"
"I'm Momoa, I've heard about you, Jabber thinks you're cool"
"MOMO DON'T TELL 'ER THAT!"
"Aww I'm flattered, now I'm gonna go take this to your 'not' mom"
"huh"
Semiu grabbed the cups from the microwave and walked back to Cthoni's bedroom. While she didn't quite trust the microwave she trusted the kettle even less, she wasn't sure what had been in it but she was sure it wasn't natural.
She opened the door and saw a half-awake Cthoni sitting up in the bed, rubbing her eyes. Semiu sat back down close to Cthoni and handed her the coffee. Which she gratefully accepted.
"Jabber and his friend Momoa are in the kitchen eating the take out you brought for him"
Cthoni took a sip of the coffee, "Good, you wanna stay for breakfast?"
"Wish I could but I gotta get to work, y'know how it is", Cthoni definitely didn't know "how it was" since she didn't know Semiu was the Cleaner's receptionist but that was neither here nor there.
"Right...well I hope the hangover doesn't effect too much of your work", Cthoni leaned in towards Semiu to place a kiss on her lips, "I'll see you again soon?"
"Definitely"
Semiu quickly kissed Cthoni again before standing up and turning towards the bedroom door.
"...Hey I know we've only known eachother for like a month and a half and only officially gone on one date, but what do you think about...being more then just a past one night stand?", Semiu looked back at Cthoni as she spoke, "If it's too soon for you that's alright,I was just wondering"
Cthoni looked back at Semiu, slowly processing everything that she said.
"No no, it's not too soon I-...I'd like to be more then one of your past hookups", Cthoni shuffled closer to the edge of the bed, closer to Semiu and pulled her down to kiss her one last time before lightly pushing her towards the door.
"Now go, I dont wanna make you more late then you already are"
"I will, I will"
The two shared a smile as Semiu left the bedroom. They'd see eachother again but they wouldn't just be past hookups, they'd be something more, and Semiu enjoyed that thought very much.

After realizing Cthoni probably shouldn't drive and Jabber was permanently banned from diving a car ever again, Momoa drove Semiu back to the restaurant where Gris would pick her up.
Semiu shut the car door as she settled into the seat.
"How was your date?", Gris asked handing Semiu a cup of what smelt like more coffee (not that she was complaining), as he began to drink from his own cup.
"It was good...Hey Gris, if I'm dating someone and that someone basically has an adopted kid does that make me basically a step-mom?"
Gris sounded like he almost choked while drinking his coffee, "WHAT"
