Domestic Cottage Days

Summary:

A little fanart of Shane and Ilya enjoying an easy day at the cottage.

Notes:

Did I slightly lose my mind working on this illustration? Yes, yes I did.

Was it worth it? Hell yeah. I had so much fun working on this all week, especially putting in all the little easter eggs. Can you find all of them?

I built a 3D model of the first floor of the cottage to help with this illustration, but I modified some things to fit my own headcanons better. Mostly in this view that meant rearranging the den to turn that half-wall the couch is against in the show into a bookshelf. I also turned the central fireplace into an ACTUAL fireplace, instead of what I'm pretty sure is a gas one. Because real fireplaces are better.

Some other little details:

The hockey sticks above the stairs are sticks from important games in Shane's career. Top to bottom: first game with the Metros, first cup win with the Metros, the Olymics, the All Star game where he and Ilya were on the same team, and Shane's first pride night game with the Centaurs (which is not a thing that has happened in the books or show but I don't caaaaaare. Let this man have a fun pride night game playing on the same team as his husband).

Just about every book on the shelves is either a real book or a real book modified to fit the show. Thank you to the people who build Goodreads lists for everything you could imagine, because they made my life significantly easier. (I also put one of my own books on the side table next to the armchair, even though it isn't a hockey book, just for funsies.)
