Chapter Text
It was Day 1 of Katseye’s tour, but honestly? Megan felt like she was on top of the world.
Yes, she can admit, she was nervous before the show, yes, she wasn’t used to performing in front of this many people, but it felt natural the more she stood on that damn stage
By the time sound-check had been announced, she was exhausted, panting with shallow breaths that she had tried to hide.
She didn’t want to disrupt the flow of the audience, after all, or get a Twitter post from a random user clipping and targeting her, talking about how old she was getting.
She sat down with Sophia at the end of the stage, the sight of the group leader wordlessly signaling the other four girls to come sit alongside them.
Yoonchae instantly sat beside her, leaning her head on Megan’s shoulder, her hair draping over the nape of her neck.
Unlike Megan, she was so effortlessly energetic at that moment. Megan noticed how Yoonchae had been way more talkative and happy lately, and Megan was ALL up for it.
It was so amazing seeing her grow throughout the journey of KATSEYE, and she couldn’t be prouder of her maknae.
Draping her arm over Yoonchae’s shoulder, she leaned her head back onto Yoonchae’s.
Lara and Manon had quickly ran over after chatting for a moment, while Dani sat beside Sophia.
Megan was so caught in her own thoughts, though, she had even noticed the instrumental of Gabriella had been playing in the background, until it was at its closing notes.
“Shit, I didn’t realize we were supposed to be locked in” She whispered to Yoonchae, her smiled widening as she heard small, compressed chuckles from underneath her.
Out of everyone, Yoonchae was the most understanding of her humor (apart from Lara, but ever since she turned 20, she considered her a grandma), and that only encouraged her to keep cracking her stupid jokes.
They both jumped, once Sophia’s voice came boosted on the speaker below them,
“Alright! We wanna hear some questions from you guys!”
The audience erupted into clapping, the girls looking at one another with the widest smiles.
Sophia had selected 3 different girl from the front, each of them asking some normal questions,
“What’s your favorite food?”
“Who would you wanna collab with if you had the chance?”
“If you could be a color, what would it be?”
As more and more were asked, each ended up in someone laughing hysterically (mostly Megan, who used her sleeve to wipe her tears)
A rugged older man was in the front row, raising his hand barely, his face somehow had shadows cast around it naturally. Megan glanced at Sophia, who grimaced slightly, before lifting her microphone to her mouth,
“Yes, you in the front?” He lowered his hand slowly, moving it to his face to call out,
“If anyone of you could be a monster, who would it be?”
All of them straightened up.
Megan’s eye narrowed at the man. What kind of fucking question was that?
The crowd seemed to think the same as well, the whispering growing louder between people, and the man’s grin only growing as silence remained.
Her hand instinctively went to Sophia’s shoulder, whose mic was still lifted to her face to conceal her shocked expression,
“W-Well! Do we have an answer, guys?” Silence, before Dani leaned forward,
“Honestly, I think it’d be all of us!” She chuckled nervously, “We all act pretty crazy sometimes, even during rehearsals!”
The other girls nodded in agreement, small smiles plastered on their faces. It was definitely odd as hell, but Dani had saved the day.
Megan retracted her hand from Sophia, her own shoulders loosening in relief, another crazy fa-
“No, that wasn’t my question. I said ONE of you.” He sounded increasingly irritated all of a sudden.
Megan could see his eyebrows furrowing from where she was sitting. She turned her head, the usually talkative Manon and Lara duo were completely silent, she didn’t expect Yoonchae to speak out against a crazy guy like this, Sophia looked uncomfortable and guilty to even initiate the conversation, and she could tell Dani had no courage to speak any longer. For a moment, she felt mature, and tough as hell,
“Probably me then” She laughed, her media training locking in,
“I’d say I’m a wild-card if anything. Craziest out of anyone in KATSEYE, am I right?”
The stadium flooded with clapping. They could tell Megan was trying, thank god.
She looked down again at the man, only to see him completely gone, the person that was behind him taking his place.
Wait, what?
She squinted her eyes, but she was right to begin with.
It was like he was never there.
She shuddered, whatever, she had a show to perform. She stood up with to others, smiling again,
“Alright, LA! We still have a few songs, if you’ll have us!” She waved her arms high in the air, almost bumping into Manon, as the crowd suddenly increased in volume, she couldn’t stop her giggling, while turned infectious when Manon started to smirk, her giggles matching Megan as they held onto another for air.
It really wasn’t that funny, but they somehow made it.
After a swift recovery, they had all managed to make their ways onto the stairs, the lights turning off to give them the short chance to get to their positions. Megan sat, clearing her throat quietly, and taking advantage of the timing of the tech guy, before slowly lifting the mic to her mouth,
“Wake up..” The final performance was what Megan was most excited for, because it ended their first show AND she got to go home.
As “My Way” continued on, Megan held onto Lara’s shoulder, swaying from side to side with the music while they sat. Yoonchae sang her verse, which she had admittedly said before that it was the “most relatable she had ever felt to a song” (they weren’t that loud were they?).
Once the music ended, the auditorium filled with cheers once more, and the girls all announced their goodbyes with clear happiness in their voices, Megan blowing kisses to the crowd as they walked backstage.
Once they got into the changing room, there was an eerie silence that filled the place, interrupted by Daniela’s squeals,
“Guys! That was our first show!” Everyone joined in, whooping from where they were.
Megan fist-bumped Lara from across the couch, and dodged a fast hug from Yoonchae,
“‘Chip!! Gross, you’re all sweaty!” She laughed as she spoke, actively pushing her away, but as strong as Megan thought she was, Yoonchae was somehow stronger, and embraced Megan.
She groaned loudly, acting like she wasn’t enjoying it, before patting Yoonchae on the back to release her. Sophia swiveled her chair,
“But honestly, we need to do something about weirdos like that one guy. What a weird question to ask”
Her fingers played with the string of her sweatpants, “Do we need to give a safe word to security or somethin-”
“-I” Lara butted in, “..think it’s because we’re so hot and cool” Megan snorted, “that the fans just wanna know more about what living together’s been like?”
Wait, that was honestly a good point,
Megan was impressed with that short reasoning. Sophia seemed to agree, “Alright, but if we get any other stupid or uncomfortable questions like that, I will PERSONALLY call security on them” She crossed her arms,
“Now, I’m tired as hell, and I wanna sleep, or fall asleep watching a movie with you guys, pick your poison”
She got up, lugging her bag around her shoulder, “I’ll be in the bus” She said, smugly.
She was the only multitasker of the six, and it was blatantly obvious when she was in her casual clothes, while the five of them were staring at her, still in their “My Way” fits.
After changing hurriedly, Megan’s mascara being smudged on her eye while putting on her shirt, they all took their bags and ran in the direction Sofia had gone.
“5 dollars says she’s still waiting for us?” Manon nudged Dani, who nodded, and shook her hand.
Once they reached the door leading outside, they could already see cameras flashing, and security guards barricading all sides.
It got worse when they stepped outside, screams getting louder, asking for autographs and greetings. The door opened behind them, one of the tech people beckoning them over,
“Would one of you be able to test out the mics for tomorrow? Normally, Ms. Laforteza does it, but it seems she’s already left?”
Megan could see everyone else was tired, judging by their reactions, and their general body language. Megan loved her fans to death, but they’d have to wait for this one.
“I got this, go have fun with Sophia, I can definitely Uber to the hotel”
Almost in sync, the four nodded, turning and rushing off. Megan followed the techie onto the stage, who quickly walked away to another group of workers.
One called out, “Alright, Ms Skiendiel! Could you say something in the mic for us please?”
She looked down, the mic laying on the floor, unwired, with its buttons glowing green.
“Uhm, gnarly?” She grinned, her voice echoing across the stage.
“Mic Check done! You’re free to go!” Someone called from behind her. Megan beamed,
“Got it! Thank you so much!” She waved, walking offstage. Once she was at the door again, she went outside. This time, there was nobody, no fans, no security, nothing.
She didn’t really have anything to do, and it was the middle of the night. She scrolled on Uber, but the woman assigned to her by Hybe was out of town. They apparently hadn’t thought to get her a new one for the new city.
“Fuck” She muttered.
She scrolled to Maps, frantically typing in the hotel name.
Four results.
One near her.
That had to be it. It was a twenty minute walk from the arena, she’d be fine, unless she got somehow got recognized in the streets. She pulled up her hoodie, placing her sunglasses strategically on her face, and started to walk.
She put her phone in her hoodie pocket, and put her hands in her jeans. It was freezing, and she could practically feel her hands getting number by the second.
Lara’s gonna be worried She paced, her mind racing with anxious thoughts. Her roommate couldn’t go to sleep without her in the room, or at least knowing she was safe.
Yes, Megan should text her, but that might just make her more antsy.
Vibrations picked up on her phone, pulling it out only to see 12 new texts from Sophia,
almighty leader

Megan snickered underneath her sleeve, staring at the dots continuing to appear under the texts, and tried to think of something to type back quickly, so Sophia wouldn’t send a search party
meimei
>> RELAX GIRL i’m omw
>> not dead or anything so don’t fear
She was entering a lesser known part of the town, making her heart jump when all she could hear were cars passing by. “15 more minutes” appeared as a notification at the top of her phone, but she was honestly so burnt out from the show, all the dancing and energy wasted finally getting to her, she could barely even process it.
Looking ahead, she noticed a small convenience store in the vicinity, and luckily in the direction she was heading.
After a few glances around, she hurried over, her boots thumping against concrete and onto tiles.
The air was cold like outside, but somewhat more refreshing than she’d anticipated. She walked through the few aisles, Any coffee? She reached the fridge, her eyes lighting up when she saw it.
The prize.
The holy grail.
Her mouth was practically watering when she grabbed it out. A bottled Starbucks Frappe.
Megan couldn’t get enough of these things, holding it against her face, reminiscing to the time where she chugged four at once.
“Good times.” She whispered to herself, a tear falling down her face.
Trying not to seem too excited (and failing), she placed it by the register, the worker eyeing her suspiciously, but scanning it.
Once Megan walked out, she held it up, “YES!!” She yelled out once the doors had closed behind her.
Her fingers gripped the top, ready to screw open and drink.
There was a big issue though, one that she forgot completely in her happiness. These things were hard as hell to open.
When she got some for the group before, Yoonchae was the only one who could open the tight tops, putting the other five in utter awe.
Megan tried using her shirt to open the drink. No use. Her fingers were cold as hell, so they wouldn’t work.
NOO She screamed at herself internally, gripping the fabric of her jeans in frustration.
At least it was a good motivation to head back faster?
Her pace quickened in the direction Google had told her to go.
She was slowly doubting herself the more she went north.
Exhaling, she hunched over, her hands on her knees. Her legs ached like hell. She wasn’t getting any closer to her destination.
She wanted her coffee.
She was so tired, she didn’t wanna deal with this shit today. Got it, I’ll just call Dani Dani would get her out of this situation.
She leaned the side of her body against the abandoned building, tapping the wall with a free hand, as the call tone droned on.
Dani usually picked up right away, what gives?
It wasn’t too late at night, not late enough for her to be asleep already anyways.
Sighing, she quickly scrolled through her contact list, dialing Manon for help.
Suddenly, a hand darted out from behind her, knocking her phone onto the ground with a sickening crack,
“Wh-“
She didn’t have the chance to turn fully, a hand hitting off her sunglasses, and slapping onto her mouth, an arm quickly wrapping around her abdomen.
“I wouldn’t move if I were you.” Megan winced.
It was the man from the concert. His voice was eerily recognizable.
Cold air blasted against her the more she stood still, “What-the fuck do you want?” Megan gasped out once the man’s hand transitioned to her eyes, allowing her to talk.
She could hear Manon’s voice frantically questioning where she was on the speaker, but it was tuned out by the man’s heavy breathing against her ear,
“For you to fulfill your promise to me” He rasped out, his voice going lower, to her neck.
She shifted, struggling to escape. Something was keeping her immobile, she just wasn’t sure if it was her fear, or the man.
His breath could be felt by her neck, “You do remember, do you?” He whispered.
The last thing Megan heard was the sound of cracking, before her neck was pierced by the man’s fangs, and her own subconscious screaming filling the empty streets.
-
Megan woke up in a daze, the sound of car honking snapping her out of the drunken state she was in.
“Wha-“ “GET YOUR ASS IN HERE.”
Manon She couldn’t be more relieved to hear her voice.
Grunting, she lifted herself off the floor, choosing to ignore the small blood splatter on the cement, and picking up her phone (which had a crack), and her bag (which luckily had her coffee!).
She entered the car, slamming the door shut, and watching as they started moving. “Why’re you in a completely different side of town?”
Stupid Google Maps.
She inhaled, a hand going to her head, “The map app told me this was the way to our hotel..” She muttered under her breath, “Is it the right hotel though?”
Oh She picked up her phone, scrolling to the destination name.
Nope, she was just going somewhere random the whole time.
Manon’s head was on the wheel, “Thank god I told you to turn on your location, or you’d definitely be lost forever”
Megan turned to face her, finally getting a good look at her.
She looked like she had just woken up, her hair messy, and her pajamas being the only clothes that were on, other than an oversized jacket that had been hastily thrown over her.
“I think I almost got kidnapped” Manon’s eyes widened, but Megan continued, “It was the same guy from the concert. He was saying some bullshit, I think he was drunk or something”
She rubbed her neck, feeling a sudden pain. It made her ears ring once she touch her injury. Two holes pierced deep in her neck.
Using her phone camera, she could see her dry blood pasted around the wounds. “He..bit me?”
The car stopped abruptly, Manon’s hands cupping Megan’s face, “WHAT THE HELL?? WHERE?” Megan grimaced again,
“Stop yelling, he bit my neck” She dropped her shoulders, allowing her hoodie to dip slightly, but enough to reveal the bite mark.
“What if he had those homeless man rabies, Megan.” Her hands moved to Megan’s shoulders, shaking her.
“Or worse, he’s a vampire.” Megan burst out laughing, “MEGAN THATS NOT FUNNY, WHO THE HELL BITES PEOPLE?.”
She was swatted back to driving the car by the all-rounder, “He was probably drunk. I didn’t get to look at him, but his voice..ugh..it was so raspy and ugly..obviously I was gonna recognize it..”
Megan’s eyes suddenly lifted up, “But never mind that. LOOK” She whipped the coffee out of her bag, waving it in front of Manon’s face excitedly, accidentally making herself a lethal obstacle to the Swiss-Ghanaian girl’s driving.
“I haven’t been able to find these anywhere” She pulled her arm back when she noticed Manon’s frustrated expression,
“I’m like, so addicted to these” She held it to her chest, “But I need Yoonchae to open it for me, she’s like, magic with it”
Manon snorted beside her as they pulled into the hotel parking lot, “What?” Manon had an elbow rested on the side door,
“You really don’t care about your..bleeding?” She pointed at the bite, “You seem too calm about this” Megan lifted her hood back up.
“I can just patch it up when we get inside, no biggie, it doesn’t even hurt” She jumped out of the car, stretching and heaving her bag over her shoulder,
“And besides, I’m sure everyone’s gonna freak out FOR me when we get in there”
