Work Text:

Terrorblade was a demon so evil, he established a rapport with the worst version of himself.

Somehow, that wasn't a big deal to the Enchantress.

"Specific dates can hold specific meanings to certain beings," Aiushtha explained, "some call this day Valentine's. The day of love and friendship."

"So they have a day for love and frienship... how self-righteous." Said Terrorblade, sitting at her side, under a tree.

"I know!" She laughed. "But that's why I told you to come here today, so we can have a cute Valentine's date! Doesn't it sound enchanting?"

"It does sound enchanting." The Terrorblade mused.

The forest was humid and the embrace of its leaves, gentle. Birds singing and chirping to the same tune Aiushtha hummed as her hands carefully crafted a flower crown.

The Demon Marauder leaned in and copied her, quietly. He should've been embarrassed of himself, but he simply... couldn't.

A grey lynx ran over to Aiushtha's direction and opened it's jaws to leave a bunch of colorful flowers at her side.

"Thanks!" She caressed the animal behind it's ears. Terrorblade glared at the creature. The lynx growled at him. "No, little one, don't growl at him, he's my boyfriend, yes?"

"Aiushtha." He muttered, to which the Enchantress looked back at him curiously. "Hahsh ozh."

"You want pampering, too? Well, come get your indulgence." Terrorblade bowed before her, his horns digging into the ground.

A demon so horrible, a demon so thieving and powerful... no demon should ever bow before such mortal creature.

Yet, the marauder closed his eyes at the deer woman's gentle touch.

"How lovely!" Aiushtha exclaimed. "You're the most handsome demon of them all. And also very cute."

Terrorblade pretended he didn't hear her words, his mind still warring between taking offense to it or feeling proud.

The Enchantress continued. "Aren't you listening? I'm saying you're handsome..." She grinned. "And I'm not talking to the lynx!"

"Of course you're not talking to the lynx." Terrorblade lifted his head and looked at Aiushtha eye-to-eye. He frowned.

Dealing with Aiushtha was something he wasn't prepared for. He couldn't just extort her, kill her, make her worst nightmares come true. Well, he could, but he didn't want to.

He wanted to protect her, even.

Of course he hadn't felt frustration before, everything was too easy for him to solve. But Aiushtha made him feel things he wasn't supposed to and put him on even weirder situations.

Terrorblade stayed quiet at his partner's questioning gaze. He looked down and grabbed one of the flower crowns he had been braiding and placed it on the Enchantress' head.

She giggled. "These flowers are so colorful! Do I look good with them?"

"You do."

"I'm making some for you. These are smaller, so they fit your horns."

"They're for my horns." The Demon Marauder confirmed.

"Exactly. And then, we can go on a walk, to show everybody that we're matching! I'm sure the birds here will adore your look."

"I can't wait for the birds to adore my look... you'll have to enchant them or else they'll run away. They all fear me."

"I bet they won't if you put on a smile!"

"Aiushtha..."

"You know obedient demons get kisses!"

Terrorblade never smiled quicker in his life. It was off putting, obviously, an expression his facial structure wasn't built for.

"Do I get the kiss?" He leaned over.

"All of the kisses!" Aiushtha cupped his cheeks and peppered kisses all over his face, her lips gently grazing the tough crust of the Soul Keeper's skin.

He glared down at the lynx, that was playing like a cat besides them, nuzzling its face on the grass and unaware of Terrorblade's incoherent jealousy.

Aiushtha pulled away. "Let's get going." She said, though it was more of a question, then paused at Terrorblade's expression.

"Those weren't all of the kisses. You're a swindler, not any different than me."

She pulled him close and pressed her lips against his for a short moment. The demon still looked at her, unconvinced, unsatisfied.

"What's wrong, Blade?" Her boyfriend squirmed at the nickname, but he was way too deep in love to admit it digusted him.

"Not enough." His hands found Aiushtha's. He wanted to take, to kiss, to do everything he knew he could, but even the reflection of his worst needed her smile to live.

It was a need.

"Alright, only one more. You're so clingy today. I love that about you." They kissed once again, for only a few seconds.

Terrorblade wanted to swallow her soul, to keep her always close, always to himself, maybe to carry her around in his pocket.

And yet? He behaved. He behaved nicely for his beautiful girlfriend and didn't do anything meanier than to maybe mess with her braids, but only when he knew she was already going to undo them.

He knew he needed nothing but her kind voice telling him "I love you". He wanted to be her favorite demon, to be her everything, even if it took to be her Valentine and flower-crown-model.

Notes:

I've read Terrorblade's backstory and I still insist he's the subbiest subby ever, ESPECIALLY paired with Enchantress. How come this ship isn't even a tag yet?
