Work Text:

First was sitting by the window, phone in hand, quietly handling the paperwork and payment for their newborn twins’ umbilical cord preservation.

He had done the same for firstborn, Sola, three years ago.

Almost half a million baht per child but he was sure he wanted it for their children. No hesitations.

In case they ever needed it. In case something terrible ever happened. He once read a blog about how umbilical cord preservation had save a kid from an immune system disorder when Khaotung was almost 30 weeks along with Sola.

It was expensive. He didn’t care.

They were his children. His and the love of his life's children.

Across the room, Khaotung was propped up against pillows, hair slightly messy, just finishing feeding Astro. He adjusted his hospital gown carefully and slowly swung his legs off the bed to stand.

Khaotung was probably still sore from the delivery. Strong. His husband was so strong, First thought.

And before Khaotung could even fully straighten—First was already there.

“Hey,” First said softly, gently taking Astro from his arms. “I’ll put him back.”

Khaotung blinked. “I can—”

“I know you can,” First said. “But I am here," crouching to give Khaotung a quick peck, "You don’t have to.”

He carefully laid Astro into the bassinet just right beside his twin, Zee, adjusting the swaddle like a professional, making sure the baby’s chin was not tucked too low, checking twice before stepping back.

Then he turned to Khaotung.

“If you need anything, call me,” he said gently. “Just rest.”

Khaotung stared at him for a long second. Then smiled.

“You know,” he said softly, voice warm, “every time you’re like this… I fall in love with you deeper.”

First paused.

Khaotung leaned back into the pillows, eyes fond. “I remember with Sola… we were so young. First-timers. We didn’t know anything.” He huffed a small laugh. “You literally bathed me post-birth.”

First groaned softly. “You couldn’t even stand properly. Imagine, eighteen hours of labor," First added, "And Sola was almost ten pounds, babe.”

Khaotung flinched, the memory rushing back. That day, itt had been First’s birthday. The entire day spent in a hospital room. The day Sola decided to arrive and claim the date as her own. From then on, she and First would share it forever.

“Yeah,” Khaotung huffed, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. “And you were crying more than me.” He reached up and poked the mole just beneath First’s lips.

First caught his hand, holding it close. “You were in labor the entire day of my birthday,” he said quietly. “I felt so bad. You were in so much pain.” He exhaled, pressing a gentle kiss to Khaotung’s knuckles. “And I will be forever grateful, okay.”

Khaotung’s expression softened. He laughed under his breath. “You were so serious about it,” he teased. “So careful. So… husband-y.”

They’d barely been a proper couple then. Best friends who crossed a line one night. Two people figuring everything out while also becoming parents.

And somehow—

First had stepped into it completely.

“You are so hot when you are all daddy and husband mode,” Khaotung added, chuckling as he leaning forward to press a soft, feather-light peck against First’s lips.

First blinked at him then laughed softly. “Baby,” he said, amused, indulgent, “you literally just gave birth.”

Khaotung grinned.

“We need to wait six weeks,” First dramatically hinted, eyebrows wiggling.

There was a split second of silence.

Then Khaotung burst into laughter, holding on to his sore stomach out of habit.

“Why is that where your brain went?!” he wheezed.

First shrugged defensively, smiling. “I’m just being responsible!”

Khaotung grabbed his shirt and tugged him gently toward the bed.

“I just want cuddles!” he insisted, still laughing.

First let himself be pulled down carefully, making sure not to jostle him. He climbed onto the bed beside him, wrapping an arm around Khaotung’s waist carefully.

“Oh,” First muttered. “That kind of hot.”

“Yes,” Khaotung said, nestling against his chest. “That kind.”

First adjusted the blanket over them both.

“You’re unbelievable,” he murmured fondly.

Khaotung hummed, eyes already drooping again. “I love you."

First smiled, fixing the strays of hair that was covering Khaotung's hair. "I love you."

They lay there quietly for a moment, hospital room peaceful, twins sleeping nearby.

First pressed a gentle kiss to Khaotung’s hair.

“You did amazing. Thank you,” he whispered again.

Khaotung smiled against his chest. “Sola is surely excited to meet her baby bobos” he murmured sleepily. “Her Barbie dolls already lined up in the twin's nursery.”

Him—his best friend, the love of his life, the papa to their three beautiful children—Khaotung. First’s heart felt impossibly full. He couldn’t wait to live out the rest of his life with Him, the man he had built his family with.
