Work Text:
I groan quietly as I arch my back off the dark surface of the bed, stretching my arms and legs as I come to. I blink my eyes open, seeing the rest of the room is still dark. The soft pattering of rain can be heard outside the window, from behind the curtains. The clock on the bedside table reads “9:27.” It’s not too early, not too late. It’s a nice Saturday morning, meaning no work for me or Benny.
I glance over at him. He’s still asleep. I just watch the rise and fall of his chest, examining every curve of his body like I’ve never seen it before. The sheet is draped over him diagonally, from bare shoulder to bare hip. It’s a heavenly sight, as I stare at the Adonis that lays asleep before me. His eyebrows furrow gently in his unconscious state, and he rustles a little, moving one of his arms to rest on top of his stomach. My eyes trace over his side profile, gaze running over the ridge of his forehead, grazing the bridge of his nose, fluttering over his lips, and gliding against his jawline.
I shiver a little, my body becoming suddenly aware of the cold beginning to penetrate the thin sheet we have on the bed. The rain outside continues to pelt the roof and window. It’s nice, though. I gently slip out from under the covers, letting my legs swing off the bed and my feet touch the floor. I walk over and gently move the curtain to peek outside, not letting it go too far so the rings don’t make a noise against the pole. It’s overcast, the sky a light grey, and the droplets of water hitting every conceivable surface outside not sheltered by something else. I sigh quietly, pursing my lips and shifting my weight from one foot to the other.
I don’t realize how long I stand there, just watching the rain pour down from above, until I hear Benny. He comes up behind me, gently putting his hands on my arms. It startles me for a second, before I sink comfortably into his touch.
His voice is raspy and deep as he chuckles at my surprise. “Hey, honey. How’d you sleep?”
I hum back as I continue looking out the window. “Was fine. Waking up next to you is always a treat, though.”
“I didn’t get that pleasure,” He frowns gently, leaning his head down to press a warm kiss to the side of my neck. “Didn’t know where you went until I looked at the curtains. Thought there might’ve been a ghost behind ‘em. Found somethin’ better though.”
I laugh quietly, turning my head to the side so I can peck his cheek. He snakes his arms around my sides so they can meet in the middle and rest around my stomach while resting his chin on my shoulder.
“What’d you want to do today, Ben?” I ask, bringing a hand up to caress his cheek while letting the other fall on top of his arms, gently interlacing my cold fingers with his warm ones.
“Was thinkin’ I’d just take care of you.” He hums lowly into my ear, turning to kiss my neck again. “In more ways than one.”
“I think I’d like that.” I chuckle and lean further into his embrace.
He begins to straighten his posture as I let my head fall back against his chest, and I look up at him. I turn around in his arms, so we’re chest-to-chest, and I move up to press a kiss to his jaw. His arms fall to come back around my hips, and he gently grasps the bare skin in his warm hands.
“Love you so much, Benny.”
“Love you too, hon.”
