Work Text:

For someone like Rui, an entire sekai set hundreds of years in the future was like something out of his greatest dreams. Between the extraordinary technology and native life, Rui almost didn’t want to leave.

Of course, he has to be realistic. Along with Haruka, Akito, and a handful of vocaloids from several different Sekais, he was part of the group assigned to find a way out of here. He had to do his part. That’s why when they finally found a way into this abandoned laboratory, Rui suggested their group split up to cover as much area as quickly as possible.

Rui doesn’t come across anything particularly interesting— At least, not at first. It must’ve been the fifth or sixth room he’s checked out before he comes across what seems like abandoned lab equipment. Not exactly surprising, considering where he was. He can’t help but be drawn to it, though, it’s far more advanced than anything he’s ever imagined. Several beakers of colorful substances were laid out upon the countertops, though one in particular caught Rui’s attention. Sat beside several sheets of notes, a small vial of shimmering pink liquid, sealed with a small cork. The notes, seemingly detailed, were indecipherable with Rui’s limited knowledge of the language. He did take a couple pictures, though, in hopes of figuring some of it out later, once they made it back home.

Carefully, Rui picked up the vial, tugging the cork off with his thumb. He has about half a second before a rosy-hued cloud floods his vision— And soon, his lungs. He spirals into a coughing fit, amidst which the vial slips from his fingers, shattering as it hits the counter. This only increases the amount of the sickly sweet vapor in the air, and Rui stumbles backwards, waving through the mist in an attempt to breathe. He ends up on the other side of the room by the time his coughing subsides, a dense fog had formed over the area where he had previously been standing. Luckily, he doesn’t feel any adverse effects of anything he might’ve inhaled. He’s warm, maybe even a bit dizzy, but he attributes that to his violent coughing just moments prior.

As much as he would’ve loved to continue looking around, Rui decides it isn’t worth risking any more exposure to… whatever that was. He continues his search for clues after that, clearing a couple more rooms before he notices something. That disorientation that began earlier hadn’t passed. In fact, it’s only getting worse.

He can handle it, though, that’s what Rui tells himself. Even as that warmth envelops his body, even as it gets more and more difficult to think without his mind wandering. It doesn’t really hit him just how badly affected he is until he hears a familiar voice from across the corridor, and naturally, he follows it.

“Kamishiro-senpai? Did you hear anything earlier? It sounded like glass breaking, or something, and I thought it came from around—“

Rui finds himself acting on autopilot, walking over to where his underclassman stood, wrapping his arms around him from behind and pulling him flush against himself. It’s out of character for someone like Rui, considering they barely know one another well enough to be considered friends; They’re acquaintances, at best.

Akito pauses, setting the papers in his hand back onto the table he stood in front of.

“‘Hi’ works too, by the way. Just for future reference.”

He expects Rui to back off after that. Oddly enough, he only presses closer, nuzzling against the back of the ginger’s neck.

“Mm. I apologize.”

Rui’s voice sounded… off, to Akito. Too breathy. This was wrong. Something was wrong.

“Dude, are you good? This is weird, even for you.”

Normally, Rui would’ve taken at least a little offense to that. Now, Akito’s words hardly even registered in Rui’s mind. He can’t focus on anything but the heat radiating from Akito’s body.

“You’re… warm. Very warm.”

It’s not like Rui never dodged Akito’s questions before. Rui has never been easy to get a straight answer out of, but this was more than just a simple inconvenience.

“No, actually, I’m pretty sure you’re running a fever. Seriously, what’s going on?”

The way the director’s arms circled his waist wasn’t lost on Akito— He knew exactly what Rui’s shallow, unsteady breathing meant. The only question was why?

“I spilled something earlier. I think I ingested it, somehow.”

What did that have to do with anything? Akito can’t think of a single substance that would make Rui act like this. Unless—

“So… You’re saying you got drugged? That’s what this is?”

Slowly, hesitantly, Rui nods.

“You should go. I don’t want to force you to do anything.”

Akito is more than a little skeptical about that. It’s not because his body language blatantly contradicts his words, that part is understandable. But is Rui in any sort of condition to be left alone? He’s clearly not thinking straight, and he’s losing strength physically, too. Most of his body weight is being supported by Akito as they speak.

“Dude, you’re barely standing up on your own. I don’t think you could force me to do anything if you tried right now.”

Well, yeah, that’s true. It still doesn’t convince Rui, though. He’s barely holding back as it is, what happens when he really can’t control himself?

“I can figure something out. Please, I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Like what? You plan on taste-testing everything you can find until something helps?”

Rui falls completely silent. Too silent. He has to be kidding, right? There’s no way this is messing with his head that much, he’s smarter than this. Somehow, Akito manages to put enough distance between Rui and himself to turn around. Almost immediately, Rui tucks his face away into the crook of Akito’s shoulder, and the latter breathes out a disappointed sigh.

“Look. There’s no way I’m leaving you alone like this. Not happening, sorry. Can’t we get this out of your system, somehow? Isn’t that how this kind of shit usually works?”

Clearly, Rui is hellbent on avoiding eye contact, as he only doubles down on his attempts to hide. Humming in confirmation, he nips at the collar of Akito’s hoodie, sucking at the damp fabric in an effort to stave off the urge to bite down on the skin beneath it. He’s really suffering, isn’t he? Akito feels a little guilty, he’s never seen Rui so… pitiful. Pitiful, but…

Cute. Akito shoves the thought far, far away, just as quickly as he found it. This isn’t truly Rui, he reminds himself— Not that the idea would be any better if it was.

“Right. So, what do you want me to do?”

Softly, Rui mumbles an answer, but it comes out completely unintelligible. The only indication he spoke at all was the warmth of his breath ghosting over Akito’s skin.

“Speak up, I can’t hear you.”

There’s no bite behind Akito’s tone, but Rui shakes his head regardless, whining in protest while burrowing further into the side of Akito’s neck.

Akito doesn’t want to cross any lines, he doesn’t want to push any boundaries, but right now, what choice does he have? He has to be sure, absolutely certain that Rui is okay with this, that it isn’t just the effects of whatever’s in his system doing all the talking. He grabs the inventor by his shoulders, pulling Rui just far enough away to stare expectantly at him.

Rui. Tell me what you want.”

Wide-eyed, Rui briefly meets Akito’s gaze, before directing his attention onto a random tile on the floor. Taking in one last tremulous inhale, Rui responds, barely loud enough to reach Akito’s ears.

“I want you to touch me. Please.”

Despite Akito having to practically plead with Rui to ask him for anything, Rui looks so prepared to accept defeat. The blush on his cheeks creeps all the way back to his ears. He seems anxious, uncertain— That sense of remorse scrapes at Akito’s heart once more.

“Easy, see? I can do that.”

Akito glances over to the table behind him, pondering for a moment before shoving the contents scattered atop the surface aside. Rui’s basically dead weight against him, so it doesn’t take much effort to switch their positions and lift Rui up onto the table. The two are actually relatively tall in comparison to the table, so there’s more pushing than lifting, but that’s neither here nor there. It catches Rui off guard, his hands scrambling for purchase on the other’s sleeves, but even after they’ve settled and Akito stands steady between his legs, Rui still doesn’t let go.

“You’re sure about this?”

Akito asks, hand hovering over Rui’s belt in a silent question of its own. Without an ounce of hesitation, Rui grabs Akito’s wrist, pulling his hand closer.

“Mhm, please. Wanna feel you...”

Rui’s voice trails off towards the end of his sentence, as if torn between humiliation and lust. Hell, he doesn’t even sound like himself, and if Akito wasn’t seeing it with his own two eyes, he might not believe this is Rui at all.

As an act of mercy, Akito frees Rui’s cock from its confines, and honestly? It took everything in Akito not to stare— God, no wonder Rui was begging. He’s practically throbbing, his leaking tip flushed a deep shade of red.

Wasting no time, Akito wraps his hand around Rui’s cock. That alone earns a startled gasp from the director, and Akito hasn’t even moved yet. When he does, though, Rui collapses against Akito in a broken sob.

“Mmnh— Thank you, fuck—“

Oh, Akito doesn’t know if he’ll be able to handle this. Seeing his senior all hot and bothered, hearing him, it… does things to Akito. It’s wrong, he knows that, but he can’t exactly help it. He manages to mentally veer himself away from popping a boner— at least for now— and focuses on getting Rui off.

‘Focusing’ might be a little generous, now that Akito thinks about it. Rui is making focusing incredibly difficult. Akito didn’t ever consider whether Rui would be particularly vocal or not, he simply never thought of Rui in that light. He still has no way of knowing if this is an accurate representation of what he’s really like in bed, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is how loud Rui is. Not just in volume, though that is a factor, but so long as Akito’s hands are on him, he’s a nearly constant stream of noise. Panting, moaning, half-coherently babbling right into Akito’s ear. He’s so out of it, there’s no way he realizes what he’s doing or how it’s affecting Akito. That makes it worse, now that the latter thinks about it. At this rate, they’re guaranteed to get caught.

“Kamishiro-senpai, look…”

Akito’s hand slows as he practically peels the director off of him.

“I don’t mind helping you out here, but you’ve gotta keep it down, alright? If anyone were to see us—“

“No,’m sorry Shinonome, don’t stop, I’ll be good, I swear…!”

Rui’s voice is breaking as if he’s about to cry, his hips bucking up into Akito’s stilled hand, desperate for the slightest bit of friction. In a panic, Akito presses his free hand over Rui’s mouth.

“Shit, okay, I won’t. Don’t freak out. Just remember what I said, yeah?”

Nodding quickly, Rui covers his mouth with his own hand before looking up at Akito, seeking approval. That pleading look in his eyes…

Rui was going to be the death of him.

When Akito finally continues his strokes, he sets a faster pace than before. Rui, the poor, insatiable little thing, still wants more. He’s inching towards the edge of the table, his free hand grasping the front of Akito’s jacket and tugging him forward. But even still, he leans closer, huffing out in a whisper,

“Not enough… Shinonome, please—“

Like a fracture opened up in Akito’s self restraint, he wraps one arm around Rui’s waist, pulling Rui nearly flush against himself and pinning him there.

“God, you’re needy. Anyone ever tell you that?”

Akito immediately feels bad for snapping at him, even more so when he sees the startled expression on his face. However, when he feels Rui’s dick twitch in his hand…

That changes things.

“And I’ve been trying to be nice to you. Do you seriously need me to insult you to get you off?”

The director sucks in a sharp breath, backpedaling almost immediately.

“I don’t, ah— I don’t need it—“

“No, but you want it pretty bad, huh? Look at you, you’re rutting into my hand like a dog.

Rui’s knees buckle at Akito’s words, until the only thing holding him upright is Akito himself. He can’t even answer with anything beyond a strangled moan.

Akito’s initial question had clearly been rhetorical, but maybe he wasn’t that far off. Whether this is something Rui is actually into, or it’s a result of the drug in his system is none of Akito’s concern. This is all he has to work with, so he’s sure as hell going to run with it.

“See? You’re not even trying to deny it. You like this.”

If Rui were in his right mind, what Akito was saying would’ve stung. Instead, it sends a different sort of heat singing through his veins.

“I know, I’m—“

The tears brimming in his eyes finally spill over, yet Akito is right there to wipe them. His voice lowers, though it holds a hint of condescension that wasn’t there before.

“Shh, don’t apologize. It’s not your fault.”

He pauses, his lips brushing against Rui’s ear.

“It’s just really pathetic, you know?”

Another choked out, lewd noise escapes Rui. The patronizing tone of Akito’s voice is doing numbers on the director. His entire body is trembling with a force— There’s no way he’s at his limit already, is there? Isn’t it too early?

“Shinonome-kun…”

Huh. It took him this long to pick up the missing honorific. Rui is absolutely gone.

“Now is when you want to be polite? Use your words.”

A moment passes, Rui’s breathing alone filling the void of silence. Eventually, he musters the strength to speak.

“Close, ‘m so close…”

There’s a tinge of lingering guilt for how harsh he’s being, but it’s beginning to blur together with this strange sense of satisfaction. This feeling of accomplishment, knowing Rui really likes this. It’s a favor, sure, but at least it’s a good favor, right?

“That’s cute.”

The comment escapes Akito’s mind and rolls off his tongue before he can catch it. He can only hope Rui is too out of it to remember later.

“Go ahead, I’m not stopping you.”

Akito expects some sort of delay, anything, but Rui suddenly jolts into Akito’s increasingly fervent touches. Rui has about five seconds before the pleasure overwhelms him entirely.

It’s nothing like he’s ever felt before, every thought in his head hitting a dead end as his mind goes blank. Akito has to cover his mouth again to quiet the filthy noise that escapes Rui as he milks the inventor dry, stroking him until his body goes completely limp.

While Rui is practically hyperventilating trying to catch his breath, Akito has a new dilemma of his own— He has absolutely nothing to wipe his hands off with. Scanning the room, he sees some of the papers he had pushed aside earlier, and grabs a blank sheet to get his hand relatively clean. This entire time, Rui doesn’t move an inch. In fact, he only does so when Akito starts to step away, when he makes a weak attempt at stopping the ginger.

“Mmn, don’t go…”

Taken slightly aback by the tiny, worn-out sound of his voice, Akito pauses.

“We have to keep looking for a way out, y’know.”

Rui gives a slow, sluggish nod, nuzzling closer to Akito like some sort of wounded animal.

“Just stay for a bit, I’m tired…”

Akito, after staring at Rui for a moment, lets out a defeated sigh.

“How does twenty minutes sound?”

He asks, hopping up on the table next to Rui. He receives no reply, as Rui simply wraps his arms around Akito’s waist, laying his head down on the other’s lap.

Carding his fingers through soft violet strands, Akito takes that as a ‘yes.’

Notes:

I was supposed to publish this fic back around New Years, but ended up procrastinating until Valentines day, and what do you know? AkiRui ended up on the Val lineup. This, plus my MizuToya and AkiKasa part 2, I effectively predicted the entire lineup before it even got leaked. I thought that was a nice coincidence.

Oh, and funny story. I was going to post this fic under a different name, but I was at a birthday party singing MR. BRIGHTSIDE KARAOKE of all things, and got this fic title instead. Literally had me texting oomf mid song like “ohmygod new fic title idea!”

Hope you guys enjoyed!! Happy Valentines day <3
