also....this fic is EXTREMELY SUBJECT TO CHANGE! I am currently relying on my memory from seeing the movie twice as well as wiki entries about the game and movie. When the movie is accessible on home release/streaming I will be sifting through it. I want to use as much canon information as I can but obviously I will steer away where I want to/wherever feels best narratively or logically.

LAST THING i anticipate these earlier chapters will be a bit short but will fluctuate more in length as I get a feel for the characters and as things pick up. ok bye enjoy

Alright, it's working! Ah...this is Joanna, Researcher for the Consolidation of Iron. Current date is 366 EIC. I'm recording to keep a log of this mission for our database. And hopefully we find something really worth recording.

JOANNA

Our engineers have just finished construction of the SM-8, which is the first submarine built for blood ocean exploration and surveillance.

I'm going to be the head researcher for the first mission to map and explore the ocean on moon at-5. We have satellite readings already, of course. Surface scans, things like that, but we need to send someone down there. The scans might have found something.

And, I mean, even if they didn't, we'll have better luck finding something under there than any surface scans do.

This could be..everything for us. For humanity.

I'm Seung-Hyeon. I'll be the navigator.

[A long pause.]

JOANNA

Could you be a little more thorough? For archiving purposes, you know. Like Ava told us?

[Another moment of silence.]

SEUNG-HYEON

I'll also help with ship maintenance. Since I helped build it.

[More silence...]

JOANNA

..Can you say any more about the ship?

SEUNG-HYEON

Nothing that isn't already in the manual.

JOANNA

Rana recording. Date is April 5th, 366 EIC. Currently stationed on a COI tow ship on moon AT-5, preparing for expedition of the fourth blood ocean.

RANA

I will be the archivist for the mission, so most information will be recorded and entered into the terminal by me, secondarily by the head researcher. The SM-8 is equipped with an x-ray camera for the purpose of navigation and recording findings, which I will also primarily be operating. It isn't very hard to use, though, so I'm sure the rest of the crew could handle it. But Captain says I'm on camera duty.

[A muffled snort. A pause.]

In any case, the end goal of this mission is to discover any manner of natural resources that we can extract from this moon and study its natural components. And biology, if it has any. Beyond the blood, I mean.

The first expedition begins tomorrow.
