From your early childhood days, all throughout adolescence, interwoven in every single high school memory until the inevitable blossom into adulthood—and even now, as he looks at you in a longing so intense it might just swallow you whole—

Gojo Satoru has always loved you with every fiber of his being.

Notes:

alright soooo this doesn’t really follow the five-act structure to a T… but even so i hope you like this!!

Chapter 1: You know I’ve always loved you, right?

Chapter Text

Satoru’s question came like thunder.

One moment, you were fighting him, desperately trying to wipe that smug smirk off his face. Being best friends with Satoru earns you the perk of always getting pestered to spar with him. You don’t understand why he even bothers when his strength is equal to a god, and you, compared to him, doesn’t measure in the slightest.

He says that you’re the only one he’s comfortable with, the only one he trusts—and what can you do, except allow him this one small comfort?

Of course, it ends the same way it always ends: with your back against the ground and him towering above you.

“You okay?”

Your let out a groan, your eyes trailing to the long arms that are still pinning you down. “Get off me.”

Satoru laughs as he rolls down on the floor next to you, leaning a bit too close like he was never taught the concept of personal space.

“Put up your Infinity.” you grumble when your shoulders brush against each other.

Satoru just scoots even closer, ignoring your request completely. “Why? You’re gonna stealth kill me when I’m not looking?”

“Count your days.”

He cackles and props himself up on an elbow, gazing down at you. “Hey.”

Without having to turn, you can hear the mischief in his face, the furrowing of those white brows that will undoubtedly give way to a totally out of pocket statement—

“Say, should we date?”

There you go.

The absurdity of his question made you shoot him a weary glance, “Did I punch you too hard?”

He just grins—the signature Gojo Satoru grin that usually preludes the complete destruction of every physical thing that has ever physically existed.

“Don’t play dumb with me.” he leans even closer when you shift away slightly, his voice softening to a purr, “you know I’ve always loved you, right?”

Love. He actually used the word love.

Leave it to Gojo Satoru to fling you across the room one moment then profess his undying love to you the next.

You genuinely thought he was pulling your leg—but here he is, handsome and grinning and looking down at you, the sunlight falling through the windows and onto his brilliant figure.

“What?” chuckling nervously, you search his blue eyes for any hints of playfulness, waiting for the irritating laugh and the ‘Got you!’ that follows—

But Satoru says nothing, smiling at you patiently, waiting for you to acknowledge his earlier statement.

You know I’ve always loved you, right?

“Is it not obvious?” he presses, very softly, like he’s begging for you to remember.

You pause.

Right now, countless memories are going through your mind, playing like a film reel, and you’re going through each and every one. Desperately looking for a singular scene that might explain his sudden confession.

But it’s hard to think about anything when Satoru is looking at you, his eyes wide and expectant. It’s even harder because you have a thousand of memories to shift through, each of them blindingly bright and warm.

After all, you and Satoru?

You and Satoru go way back.
