Work Text:

Victoria had woken up, in her own bed. It used to be the norm for her, but recently, things had shaken up. Sometimes she woke up in Trinity Santos’ living room, after a sleepover with her and her roommate. More often than not, in those rare exceptions, she woke up in Cassie Mckay’s bed.

Now she was standing over her sink, brushing her teeth with one hand, and using the phone in her hand to try and emulate those sparse, beautiful mornings.

mckayyyy81: okay, fine.

mckayyyy81: walking to the shower now!

divatori_: good!

Victoria exhaled through her nose, a small snicker, before leaning down and spitting toothpaste into the sink. She turned the tap on, rinsed her mouth out and spit the water back out into the sink. She splashed some more water on her face in the process, like she hadn’t just gotten out of the shower. Like she wasn’t still surrounded by the wisps of steam.

Victoria left the bathroom, making her way to the little pile of clothes placed on the foot-end of her bed. She’d picked out an outfit last night, like she did every night before work. It took some of the stress out of mornings, and it was a nice way to end the night.

She quickly pulled her clothes on, humming along to the music playing softly from her phone’s speakers as it laid on her bed. Pulling her shirt over her head, she suddenly heard the sound of her phone alerting her of another notification. She popped her head through the collar and quickly swiped her phone from the sheets, immediately finding a notification of another text from Cassie.

mckayyyy81: in the car now!

Victoria rolled her eyes, a cheeky smile crawling onto her face out of instinct. A chuckle rolled off her lips as she pulled on her hoodie and slipped her phone into her pockets. Twenty minute breakfast, no biggie.

Victoria was in Cassie’s bed, wrapped in her sheets like a well-loved burrito, laying on her side. She was watching Cassie as she stood in the bathroom in those grey track shorts that reach just above her knee, brushing her teeth in front of the sink. Victoria had that smile on her face, the one she had whenever she looked at Cassie. The one she had to hold back at work, and that she could just leave there when they were alone together.

Eventually, Cassie caught her gaze, tooth brush still in her mouth. She smiled back, before bending over the sink and spitting out. Placing her toothbrush back on the sink, Cassie stretched her back and began walking to the bed. A giggle slipped out Victoria’s mouth, and Cassie raised an eyebrow.

“What’s funny, doll?”

“Nothing.” Victoria replied, that smile still persistent on her face. Her eyes followed Cassie until they couldn’t any more, until she rounded the foot-end of the bed.“Just you. You’re funny.”

“I didn’t say anything.” Cassie set down on her side of the bed. The bed creaked, Cassie let out a soft groan. Victoria’s smile deepened.

“That’s the funny part.”

“I don’t get it, then.” Cassie sighed as she lifted the blankets and crawled under. Victoria missed the warmth from the blanket for a split second, before it was replaced by Cassie’s own warmth. She crawled all the way up behind Victoria, wrapping her arms around her abdomen to pull her even closer.

Victoria didn’t stop her, of course she didn’t. She wanted Cassie as close to her as she could. Wanted her hips slotted into the shape of Cassie’s own, wanted Cassie’s chest pressed tightly against her back. Needed to feel her heartbeat, to know she was there as she slept.

Cassie groaned again as she settled her face into the crook of Victoria’s neck. “Is this okay?” She mumbled, barely paying attention with her eyes already pinched shut.

“Yeah.” Victoria whispered back, barely containing the giggle in the back of her throat. “It’s perfect.”

Cassie mumbled back something non-committal, taking one of her hands off Victoria’s abdomen and grasping for one of her hands. Victoria took her hand immediately, smiling into the embrace. She was falling asleep in Cassie McKay's bed. Of course it was perfect.

Notes:
