yuyu♥️: be there in a few minutes! x

Excitement is flowing through his veins, he has been standing in front of the door ever since that message came through.

He’s missed Yunho terribly, he always does whenever they’re apart. If he’s being totally honest, a few days has felt more like a few years, even if they did end up falling asleep together on FaceTime one night.

Yunho took his little brother, Gunho, to Japan during their short break. The younger has always wanted to go, and so Yunho thought now would be the best time to.

Mingi didn’t go, obviously, and so he’s spent the last few days either alone or making his short loneliness Jongho’s problem.

But now, literally right now, Yunho is back.

They have a key to each other’s homes, so Yunho is currently letting himself in. Mingi’s happy smile gets impossibly wider, his cheeks are aching now but he does not care. The lock clicks as it opens, there’s some shuffling and then-

And then Yunho appears. His dark hair is messy, a scarf is wrapped around his neck. There’s a bag on his back, and a rather large one in his right hand.

A quick, cheery, “hi, my love!”

And Mingi? He, with an excited giggle, jumps forward and drags Yunho across the front door’s threshold.

His fingers are curled around the front fabric of his boyfriend’s coat, and he kisses him like they’ve been apart for decades. Yunho smiles fondly into the kiss, melting into the action he will never tire of receiving. His left hand, holding on to the house keys, settles against the base of Mingi’s back.

Once apart, Mingi tells him, “I missed you!”

A playful, ”have you? I wouldn’t have guessed.”

Mingi frowns, Yunho kisses the forming pout off his lips.

”I’m kidding, Princess,” he says, and then adds, “I missed you too.”

Mingi smiles, “did you have a good time?!”

“I did,” Yunho returns the look, “though Mum called like ten times each day to make sure we were both okay.”

“I mean- you didn’t answer one of those times.”

Yunho tilts his head to the side, “how do you know that?”

Mingi shrugs, stepping back out of the older’s hold. Yunho uses his left foot to gently kick the front door closed.

”Mingi, Princess-”

”So maybe your Mum called me once to see if we’d talked recently-”

”Oh my god-”

”-she was very worried and I, personally, really don’t blame her.”

She called you?!

”Yes,” Mingi nods, “and I assured her that you were both alive and well so you’re welcome.”

Yunho sighs. “Sometimes I think she forgets we’re adults.”

”Maybe,” Mingi shrugs, “but aren’t most parents like that when their kids go away? Especially to another country?”

”I guess, though she never contacts that much when we’re away as a group.”

”Neither do my parents,” Mingi says, “it’s because all eight of us are there. It’s a big group, yes?”

Yunho hums. “Are you- would you contact-”

”Yes,” Mingi nods, “I’d have all of those tracking apps and everything to make sure our kids were still alive. Next question?”

”No more questions,” Yunho shakes his head, heart warm at the chosen words ‘our kids’, “you answered exactly how I thought you would.”

“Not too protective?”

“Well you never said you’d secretly go with them-”

Mingi blinks. “Now that’s a good idea-”

”Mingi, Princess, I don’t know how they’d feel-”

“Then they can complain to you and you can explain that I’m merely doing it because I love them.”

Yunho eyes are lit with quiet adoration.

Mingi’s gaze lingers on Yunho for a moment before he looks down. “What’s that?”

Yunho follows his gaze. “A present.”

”A present?”

”For you.”

Mingi grins, their gazes rejoin, “for me?!

There looks to be a lot of things in the bag, but the usage of a singular ‘present’ makes Mingi assume that they’re not all for him.

”Oh, but of course,” Yunho chuckles, “you only subtly asked me to get you something like fifty times.”

Mingi rolls his eyes, “it was not fifty,” a brief pause, “it was probably more like seventy.”

Yunho places a kiss to Mingi’s forehead.

Mingi asks, “did you unpack yet?”

”No,” Yunho shakes his head, “I opened the suitcase and then came straight here.”

”To see me?”

“Who else would I be here to see?”

”Well I hope nobody else because I’m the only one home.”

Yunho chuckles, and Mingi swears he falls in love all over again.

”Oh! We can go to my room if you want? I can get us drinks first! What would you like?”

”Just water will be fine, Princess.”

”Are you sure?”

”Yeah,” Yunho nods, “we can make hot chocolates together later on.”

Mingi cradles Yunho’s face in his hands. “That sounds like a brilliant proposal.”

”But not the best one you’ll ever hear-”

Mingi raises his eyebrows, “oh?”

Yunho shrugs in an attempt at appearing nonchalant.

It’s Mingi who ends up proposing, in just under eight years time, but, “I hope it includes a ring.”

”It might.”

Mingi smiles. “I love you.”

Yunho kisses him, “I love you more.”

”Not possible, but okay.” Mingi steps backwards, “I’m going to get our drinks. I’ll meet you upstairs?”

”Alright,” Yunho nods, and Mingi comes in for a last quick kiss before disappearing into the kitchen.

Yunho watches him go, completely in love. He has missed the rapper so much over the last few days, and so to finally be back in his presence is simply wonderful.

Don’t get him wrong, he adores spending time with his little brother and he’s had so much fun over the last few days, but Mingi- well, he’s missed holding him in his arms and just being in the same room as him.

Yunho hangs his set of keys up on the hooks in the lounge beside Mingi’s set. His newly purchased LEGO Spider-Man keyring bumps into Mingi’s, also newly purchased by himself, LEGO Mary Jane one.

He takes his bag off of his back in order to drape his coat and scarf over the back of the sofa. He puts his bag back on and picks the purple, shiny gift bag up again too.

Yunho slowly heads to the staircase and then goes up it. The bag of gifts, plural because there’s quite a lot in there, gets heavier with each step he takes. He sees immediately that San’s bedroom door is shut all the way over, there’s an empty LEGO box outside of Seonghwa’s one.

It’s a LEGO Squirrel. Very cute, Yunho thinks while he passes it.

Mingi’s bedroom door is semi-closed. He pushes it open, takes half a step inside, and then-

Oh.

His eyes are lit with a certain fondness, a small sigh escaping the back of his throat. Sitting in the centre of Mingi’s bed, staring back at him, is a plush Yunho knows all too well.

TYUdeongi.

The plush is slightly dented inwards on its left side, as if someone has been holding onto it really tightly. He doesn’t want to just assume, and so for now he decides to, well, ignore its presence the best he can.

That proves to be a little bit difficult when the stairs already begin to creak. He blinks. Mingi has collected their drinks in record time, it seems.

Suddenly, he’s a little nervous. He isn’t certain as to why, but a voice in the back of his head is screaming at him to move further into the room. He cannot do that, though, his body won’t let him.

Instead, he just listens as Mingi’s muffled chattering becomes clear:

”- and I was thinking we could sit next to each other in the car, yes? If you’d like to, of course. I’ve got a new app on my phone, you see. Yuyu, it’s like 1,000 games you can play without WiFi connection. I love it, it’s brilliant! I was playing with Wooyoungie, and we- hey, what are you doing?”

Yunho moves his gaze towards Mingi and away from the dog plushie. “N-nothing,” he says, hoping to not sound as uncertain about the response as he feels, “I was just waiting for you.”

Mingi’s face heats up. A playful, “well aren’t you just so sweet?”

Yunho hums and accepts the soft, fleeting kiss Mingi presses to his lips. He takes a step to the side, tilting his head to the right, “after you.”

”And a gentleman too-”

”I’ve been a gentleman since the day we met, I think you’ll find.”

”Oh, of course,” Mingi nods, “carrying my dance bag home while walking me home-”

”Anything for the Princess.”

Mingi asks, “the Princess?”

Yunho smiles, “my Princess.”

Mingi hums, kissing his partner again. “I love you.”

He's almost forgotten about the little plushie on the bed. Almost. “I love you too.”

Mingi walks into his bedroom and Yunho’s fond gaze follows after him. Mingi places the drinks down on to his desk, not even sparing a passing glance towards his own bed. He turns back to Yunho.

”So about that present-”

Yunho chuckles softly, rolling his brown eyes. “Is that the only reason as to why you’re excited to see me?”

No,” he says, drawing out the ‘oh’ sound.

Yunho then extends his right arm, “for you.”

Mingi raises his eyebrows, taking a few steps closer in order to take the bag, “all of it?”

”All of it,” Yunho confirms.

”Are you- are you serious?” The bag is quite heavy.

”Well, actually, one of the gifts is for your Mum.”

Mingi’s eyes sparkle, his heart melting. “It is?!

”Well the last time we spoke with her, she mentioned really liking this game that got discontinued here. She said that her old version of it broke recently and so I got her a new one.”

”That’s so sweet of you, Yun.”

“Well, I do try.”

Mingi chuckles and then swiftly looks down into the bag. He’s holding one handle in each hand. “There’s a teddy bear-”

While Mingi is distracted, Yunho casts a glance back towards TYUdeongi. The Aniteez is still sitting in the middle of the rapper’s bed. Yunho looks back at his boyfriend, and then he remembers that he’s still in the doorway.

Yunho moves into the room, past Mingi, and sets his backpack on to his boyfriend’s desk next to where their drinks are. Mingi, without looking up, spins to follow after him.

“You got me a teddy bear-”

“You press the button on its tummy,” Yunho begins, “there’s five beats and then four. It- it’s supposed to help with Anxiety, I thought it might, um, help you if you ever needed it.”

Mingi smiles, heart warm, “thank you.”

Yunho looks over at him, “of course.”

Mingi angles the bag a little differently. “Something is shiny-”

”There’s a lot of shiny things in there.”

Mingi says, “I like shiny things.”

Yunho nods, endeared because he knows despite the fact, Mingi would more than happily marry him with paper rings, “I know you do.”

Mingi looks up at Yunho. “Did Gunho get anything?“

”A headache from how often I spoke about you, and a bad wrist from all the photos he took.”

Mingi hums and then looks down again. Yunho allows for his gaze to move back to TYUdeongi once more. The plushie is no longer dented, having moved back into its original shape while they were talking.

TYUdeongi could be sat there for so many different reasons, Yunho finds himself helplessly curious. He looks back at his partner.

”Mingi, Princess-”

“Yeah?”

“What’s he doing here?”

More than just a little bit confused, Mingi asks as he looks back up again, “who?”

Yunho looks back to the bed, “him.”

Mingi follows the older’s gaze, and immediately his heart falls. He was meant to hide TYUdeongi beneath his bed before Yunho had gotten home.

He says a small, “oh.”

There’s a sort of odd pause, the overall atmosphere within the room suddenly feels very tense. Yunho sees Mingi’s solemn expression out of the corner of his eye, and his slumped shoulders too. He knows this look, Mingi is embarrassed.

A gentle, as he turns back to his boyfriend, “Mingi-”

There’s a soft whimper that, to Yunho, feels so much louder than what it truly is. Both of Mingi’s eyes fill with tears, his neck bright red with mortification. As an entire band, they were only ever allowed to keep their own Aniteez plushie’s, so this can only mean one thing- or, rather, maybe two.

Yunho knows that either Mingi himself purchased a TYUdeongi, or someone else purchased one for him.

Regardless of this, Mingi owns one, and the younger of the couple never wanted Yunho to find that out.

He feels the straps of the gift bag slipping out of his hold. His vision blurs and tears now fall. TYUdeongi seems to mock him.

Yunho’s heart breaks. “Oh, Mingi-

But the rapper doesn’t stick around any longer. The gift bag falls to the floor and he’s rushing out of the room in a mere second. The stairs creak loudly as Mingi bolts down them as fast as his legs can carry him. A door slams shut and Yunho flinches.

Yunho sighs, running his hands through his hair. He picks the gift bag up and puts it at the end of Mingi’s bed. This is Mingi’s home, he’s unlikely to have left the building. He’s probably in the storage cupboard or perhaps even the bathroom.

His Mingi, whenever able to, has always hidden away when he gets embarrassed. Either that, or he curls in on himself and gets really flustered.

But Yunho doesn’t think he needs to be embarrassed by this at all. It’s sweet, that he has this plushie in his possession. Yunho takes TYUdeongi into his left hand and looks down at him.

“Let’s go find your other Dad, huh?”

Because the Aniteez plushies, fondly stated by Atiny, are like their children. Yunho leaves Mingi’s bedroom behind and heads downstairs too. Mingi is not in the storage cupboard, there is no room in there due to clothing and stacked empty LEGO boxes.

Yunho and TYUdeongi continue their quiet search for Mingi, and he hears, after entering the lounge, a sob from a small distance away. The plain bathroom door is shut, most likely locked too. His building concern simply continues to grow.

He approaches the door with caution, “Mingi?”

A small, “g-go away.”

”No, Princess” Yunho shakes his head, and he adds, “not while you’re upset.”

”I’m n-not upset!”

“Okay,” Yunho stands outside the door, “can you tell me why you’re hiding in there then?”

Mingi sniffles, and he wipes his eyes with his palms. “I’m j-just embarrassed.”

Yunho sits down, turned so that the side of his right shoulder is against the door. “Why?”

Beyond the door, Mingi shakes his head.

Somehow, Yunho knows this. He asks, “is it because of TYUdeongi?”

Mingi’s face burns. “Y-yeah.”

”Because he was on your bed and I saw him there?”

Sometimes, Mingi still gets shocked regarding just how well Yunho knows him.

“It isn’t- you don’t have to be embarrassed, darling.”

Darling. That’s a new one.

”I don’t blame you for owning him,” Yunho attempts to lighten the mood, “he’s cute, isn’t he?”

”Y-yeah, but that’s not why I have him.”

”Oh?”

Mingi pulls his knees to his chest, sat with his back against the door. “It’s s-so stupid.”

”I doubt that’s true.”

”It is!”

”Well can I be the judge of that?”

No reply.

Please? Princess, hey-”

“J-just don’t laugh at me.”

”I won’t. I wouldn’t.”

”Do you pr-promise?”

At twenty-six years of age, Mingi still takes promises very seriously. “I promise, Mingi.”

Mingi’s shoulders tremble. “I have h-him because he reminds me of y-you.”

Yunho’s heart warms, a small smile makes its way on to his face.

“I sl-sleep with the plush whenever you’re n-not next to me because it’s l-like being with you even if we’re apart.”

Endeared, finding the confession hopelessly adorable and familiar, Yunho chuckles softly.

Immediately, Mingi frowns. “You said you wouldn’t l-laugh at me. D-don’t laugh at me, Yunho!”

Yunho stops laughing, but an amused smile still rests on his face. “Sorry,” he says, “you’re just so cute.”

Mingi sniffles quietly, wearing his own little, bashful smile. “Sh-shut up.”

Yunho lets the side of his head rest against the door. He’s still watching the TYUdeongi plush in his hand. It makes him think of the yellow chick plushie he has sitting in the open suitcase on the floor of his own bedroom.

“Princess,” he wants to ask for clarification, “did you buy TYUdeongi?”

”Y-yeah, why?”

He blinks slowly. “When?”

”The last time the plushies went on sale.”

So they were both on that website at the same sort of time, then. ”Mingi,” he begins, “could I tell you something?”

”Okay.”

”I-,” he hesitates for only a second, “in my suitcase at home, I have a BbyongMING plushie.”

Mingi’s eyebrows knit together in confusion.

”I have him for the same exact reason you have my Aniteez. If I go somewhere you do not, or if we are apart for some reason, I sleep with BbyongMING.”

Mingi doesn’t say anything.

”When you were in Paris for fashion week and I was sick,” he tells him, “I had BbyongMING in my arms all the time. It didn’t leave my side.”

Mingi wonders aloud, “are you lying to me?”

”No,” Yunho shakes his head, “I promise I’m not. I got my BbyongMING the last time they went on sale too.”

It’s quiet, and then Yunho hears a click from above him. He moves to the left, no longer leaning on the door, and he watches as it slowly opens.

Mingi’s blue hair is visible, his forehead too and his eyes. “Y-you have BbyongMING?”

Yunho smiles gently, “I do.”

“Y-you promise?”

”Yeah, look,” Yunho places his own Aniteez down to collect his phone from his back pocket. He unlocks the device, heads to his photo gallery, and clicks on one of the most recent images.

He turns his phone around to show Mingi, and the younger’s gaze is tender. “You took him out to the shops?”

“I did,” Yunho smiles, “he had a great time.”

Mingi hums, and he pulls the door open further. “I’m sorry for running away.”

”It’s okay,” Yunho tells him, and he lets Mingi reach forward to swipe his phone to the right.

Mingi giggles, “he’s lying in bed next to you.”

”BbyongMING was tired, the three of us had quite the adventure.”

Mingi smiles and continues swiping right through the photos. Most of the pictures were taken during the night, which makes sense. There are less people around at that time.

Eventually, he gets to the end of the photos and he brings his arm back towards himself. Yunho shuts his phone off and abandons it somewhere to the left.

”Princess-”

Mingi hums.

”You, my darling, don’t have to be embarrassed for having a TYUdeongi, okay? Even if I did not have a BbyongMING to match, there’s nothing wrong with having him around when I’m not here.”

Nodding, Mingi pulls the door open all the way. ”I cried my first night in Paris,” he confesses, “because I forgot him. You were sick and helping me pack and I- I completely forgot to pack him after we’d woken up from the nap.”

Yunho frowns.

”It’s okay now. It- it just sucked at the time.”

”I don’t doubt that.”

Mingi hums, and his gaze falls to his boyfriend’s lap. “Yunnie-”

”Come here,” he opens his arms, already knowing what the younger wants.

With a smile, Mingi shuffles out of the bathroom in order to pull the door closed behind him. He then slides on to Yunho’s lap with practiced ease, curling his legs around his boyfriend’s waist.

Yunho uses his thumbs to caresses along both of Mingi’s clothed hips. “Comfy?”

Mingi nods, flushing red.

Yunho brings his hands up to carefully wipe away Mingi’s drying tears. “You’re so pretty.”

”You think?”

”I know,” Yunho confirms with a short nod, “you’re the prettiest person I’ve ever seen.”

”You’ve seen a lot of people-”

”And none of them could ever come close to you.”

Mingi settles their foreheads together, gently placing his hands on to the spots where Yunho’s neck and shoulders meet. “I love you.”

”I love you too, Princess.”

”And, um, thank you for comforting me.”

”You don’t have to thank me for that-”

”Maybe not, but I want to. You’re patient with me, and that means a lot.”

“Well you mean a lot to me, so-”

”You mean a lot to me too.”

Yunho smiles, slowly brushing the tips of their noses together, Mingi’s blush deepens.

A shy, “how, um, how comfy are you right now?”

”I mean, the floor wouldn’t be my first choice-”

Mingi hums and slides off of Yunho’s lap. He finds the confusion on his boyfriend’s face to be really rather hopelessly adorable. Mingi fetches his TYUdeongi, holding him in his left hand. When he turns back to Yunho, he’s greeted by sock-covered feet. His gaze moves up to meet his boyfriend’s one. They’re both standing.

”Do you want to head to bed?”

”To bed or to bed?

Mingi chuckles, “the first one, idiot.”

Idiot? Ouch.”

Mingi kisses Yunho. “First one now, the second one later.”

Yunho tells him, “you still have your presents to look at, by the way.”

”Oh, shit, yeah,” and he’s gone again. He rushes up the stairs, like a kid on Christmas, and Yunho is left stood with a fond smile on his face for a minute or so.

He follows Mingi up the stairs after having retrieved his phone, and he’s barely in the doorway before a body collides with his own. Mingi’s arms are around his neck, and Yunho, on instinct, wraps his arms around his partners waist.

“You're so cute,” Mingi tells him, “so cute.”

Yunho chuckles fondly, “may I ask why?”

”You got me-”

”Oh, a total of twenty-six gifts?”

”Like why?! I only asked for two, maybe three.”

”Each gift represents a year of your life.”

Mingi pulls backwards to look his boyfriend in the eyes, cupping his face afterwards. “Yunnie-

Some gifts are smaller than others, but of course that doesn’t matter at all. Each carefully chosen one means the world and more to Mingi.

“Twenty-six gifts for the twenty-six years the love of my life has been al-”

He cannot finish. Mingi’s lips are one his own and Yunho, with a racing heart, melts into the exchange and straight away returns it.

”I change my mind,” Mingi says, slightly breathlessly, “in bed happens now, so long as that’s okay with y-”

Yunho’s hands move to the backs of Mingi’s thighs, and he guides the slightly shorter off the floor. Mingi giggles as it’s happening, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend’s neck and his legs around his waist.

“Oh, darling,” Yunho tells him as Mingi settles their foreheads together. He kicks the door closed behind him, even though they’re alone in the house right now, and begins walking them over to Mingi’s bed, “that is more than okay with me.”

Notes:

yes yunho had to purchase a carry-on bag in japan JUST to bring mingi’s presents back on the plane with him but anything for his princess, right?

(he transferred the presents into a proper gift bag during the five minutes he was in his own home for before he went to see mingi.)
