Chapter 1: Before the chaos

Chapter Text

Katsuki was having a normal day. He saved a civilian from getting robbed, helped an old woman struggling to walk with her blind eyesight, and even helped a random lost kid crying near a corner store.

Everything was good, no heavy-duty.

"Yo, bro… what do you think I should get Mina for our first anniversary?" Kirishima asked, walking beside him.

Oh, right. Those two had been dating for a year now. Katsuki was honestly glad. At least they’d stopped being so painfully obvious about it all the time.

"Just give her makeup." Katsuki grumbled. "Women like makeup."

Kirishima glanced at him, still walking. "That’s too basic, man. I want to give her something she’ll never forget."

Katsuki hummed. "Give her mind-blowing sex."

Kirishima immediately turned red, stumbling over his own words. "Bro! You can’t just say stuff like that in public! And no! I am not giving her something like that for our first anniversary!"

"Heh." Katsuki smirked at Kirishima’s panicked expression.

Kirishima sighed. “Man… you really love teasing your friends.”

Before Katsuki could respond, a woman came running toward them. She stumbled, accidentally activating her quirk in panic.

The sudden burst of energy startled her, and she yelped before collapsing to the ground right in front of Katsuki making him groaned.

"Shit."

Katsuki immediately dropped to one knee and helped her up. “Why the hell are you running like that?!”

"I—I’m sorry!" the woman cried, bowing quickly once she was on her feet. Her whole body was shaking.

Katsuki click his tongue in irritation.

"Calm down, it’s okay, ma’am!" Kirishima said quickly, giving an awkward smile. "I think Dynamight here won’t get angry."

But the woman didn’t stop. She bowed even lower.

“I’m really sorry! Please don’t get my psychiatrist license banned!”

Katsuki’s eye twitched. "What the hell are you talking about?! Did you do something to me?"

The woman sobbed and nodded frantically. "M-my quirk accidentally activated on you, S-Sir Dynamight! I’m truly sorry! Please forgive me!"

A small crowd nearby began to whisper.

Kirishima quickly went beside her. "Hey… come on, ma’am. It’s okay. Let’s talk about this at Dynamight’s agency, alright?"

"What the hell do you mean, *talk*? I’ll blast this woman!" Katsuki snapped, glaring at her but Kirishima give him that look.

"Dude! Don't be rude."

“Sorry about him, ma’am. Let’s go.” Kirishima said gently.

Katsuki scoffed. “Tch. Fine. Whatever.”

-----

“I’m fine.” Katsuki glared at their personal doctor while sitting on his own office couch.

“You’re fine *for now*.” the doctor said, adjusting their glasses. “Because we don’t know who desires you the most. Besides, you should be grateful that this young woman admitted she hit you with her quirk. I know her ability isn’t particularly dangerous, but we still need to identify who it’s connected to.”

Katsuki Bakugo had been struck by a quirk that manifested the desires of unknown person love interest but it could only activate through someone more specific "closest friends" who held the strongest romantic and sexual desire to be with him.

“I don’t fucking care who it is! It’s probably no one!” Katsuki growled.

"How are you so sure it’s no one, bro?" Kirishima sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

Katsuki rolled his eyes. "Because no one likes me like that. Most of our friends are already together and in romantic relationships!"

Kirishima gave him a side glance. "Shoto isn’t. And I don’t think Midoriya is either."

Katsuki immediately snapped his head toward him. "The hell? That nerd is romantically involved with Pink Cheeks."

“U-uh… S-Sir Dynamight…” the woman squeaked when Katsuki suddenly looked at her.

"I’m truly sorry for causing trouble..." she whispered, lowering her head, her fists clenched against her skirt.

Katsuki’s gaze softened slightly, and he rubbed the back of his neck. "It’s fine. Not your fault."

Kirishima smiled at him. Then Kirishima looked at the doctor. "Doc, what are we going to do?"

The doctor sighed. "I’m going to require Dynamight-san to refrain from hero duty for one week, since her quirk’s effects last that long."

"What?!" Katsuki shouted. "No, what the hell?! I can’t do that!"

The doctor shook his head. "I’m sorry, Dynamight-san, but I’ve already informed your secretary and PR manager."

"You what?" he said slowly, dangerously calm.

The doctor didn’t flinch. 'Your condition may seem stable, but this quirk is emotionally reactive. If the person most affected by it approaches you, your responses could become… unpredictable."

"Unpredictable?" Katsuki barked. "I’m not some animal!"

Kirishima coughed into his fist. "I mean… the whole point is that we don’t know how you’ll react, right?"

"U-uh… t-the reaction reflects what the person desires. I-if that person wants something… sexual… then S-Sir Dynamight’s body will react with… heightened lust, and it will not stop until my quirk wears off..." the woman explained softly. She kept her gaze lowered, fingers fidgeting nervously.

Kirishima scratched his chin. "Okay… that’s kinda worrisome."

Katsuki groaned loudly. "you know what fucking fine! I’ll just stay in my damn house and do absolutely nothing for a whole week!"

He stood up and stormed off. "I’m going home!"

Kirishima hurried after him. "Bro, wait up. The doctor still not—"

"Shut your mouth." Katsuki snapped. "I wanna go home."

----

It had been two days since Katsuki had been put under house arrest. And, if he was being honest, he really wanted to blow up his house—because these past two days had been fucking awful.

Right now, he was slouched on the couch, staring at a romantic comedy on the TV, drowning in boredom.

Yawning, katsuki's phone suddenly lit up on the small table in front of him, indicating someone had sent him a message but he ignored it, even as it buzzed for the fourth time.

He cross his arms, and closed his eyes, letting himself drown in the background noise of the TV. Suddenly, he flinched when his phone rang.

"Who the fuck is calling me?" Katsuki hissed, but he leaned in and picked up the phone, tapping *accept*.

"Whoever this is… I’m not in the mood for jokes right now." he warned through his phone.

"Kacchan?" Katsuki breath hitched when he heard the familiar voice.

"Kacchan? Are you… alright?" Izuku’s voice was soft, almost hesitant, and it made Katsuki’s heart pound painfully in his chest. His hands trembled slightly as he gripped the phone tighter.

"I-I’m sorry if this is a bad time." Izuku continued, his voice laced with worry, "but I’m really concerned about you, Kacchan. I just… I need to know you’re okay."

Katsuki’s brow furrowed. "Why the hell are you worried?" he muttered.

"I… I heard from Kirishima that you got hit by a civilian’s quirk." Izuku said carefully. "But he wouldn’t tell me what kind it was. I just… I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I need to know you’re safe."

"I’m fine." Katsuki muttered, trying to sound casual. "Really. It’s nothing."

The call went silent. Katsuki assumed Izuku had hung up, but when he glanced at his phone, the call was still active.

"Nerd… are you dead?" Izuku’s voice squeaked on the other end, followed by a frustrated sigh.

"I’ll be at your house in ten minutes, Kacchan. I want to make sure you’re doing okay."

Katsuki’s eyes widened as he remembered what quirk he was dealing with. "You… can’t!" he blurted.

"Why not?" Izuku asked calmly. Katsuki gripped his phone, racking his brain for something to say without revealing the quirk.

There’s nothing wrong if Izuku is already romantically involved with someone, right?

But sharkteeth said he is not romantically involve!

"I-I—"

"Okay, that’s it, Kacchan. I’m coming over, whether you like it or not."

"Izuku, wait—" Katsuki started, but the line went quiet as his panic spiked.

Shit. What he is going to do?!

---

Katsuki paced back and forth across his living room, the TV long forgotten.

He clenched and unclenched his hand around his phone, debating whether he should call Kirishima for help or just accept his fate.

Fuck.

Calm down katsuki that is only izuku.

Everything would be fine. Nothing would go wrong.

But he is izuku! His childhood bestfriend, his rival, and mostly his love of his life

Katsuki dragged a hand down his face.

"Get a grip." he muttered to himself, pacing harder. The entire apartment felt too small, too suffocating.

He should settle down. It’s okay to have Izuku in his house, right? Especially since the nerd is straight as heck—he probably doesn’t have those kinds of feelings for him.

His heart was already pounding too fast. His skin felt too warm. Was that his quirk reacting already? Or was it just because it was Izuku?

Shit. He didn’t know.

His phone suddenly buzzed.

Izuku: I’m outside.

"Fuck."

Before Katsuki could even decide whether to pretend he wasn’t home, there was a buzz at the door.

Three buzz.

"Kacchan?" Izuku called gently from the other side.

Katsuki swallowed. His palms were sweating.

This is stupid. You’re a pro hero. You’ve fought villains twice your size. Why the hell are you scared to open a door?

Because it’s him. And if this quirk doesn’t react… he’ll be so damn heartbroken, it won’t even be funny.

He knows it’s crazy—maybe even delusional—but it’s fucking Izuku. That guy has been on his mind since second year.

A buzz echoed again in his house. He marched toward the door anyway and yanked it open.

Izuku stood there, slightly out of breath, hair messy like he’d rushed. His green eyes immediately scanned Katsuki from head to toe.

"Kacchan…" Izuku exhaled in relief. "You look okay."

Katsuki stood there for a moment, bracing himself, waiting for his quirk to react. He inhaled sharply when he felt nothing at all.

Izuku stepped inside the house, glancing around before making himself comfortable on the couch.

"I told you, I’m fine." Katsuki grumbled, closing the door behind him before marching to the couch and slumping down onto it.

Okay. That confirmed it. Izuku wasn’t attracted to him.

His heart squeeze a little.
