Chapter Text
everyone’s gone, the music stopped an hour ago but the echo of it still lives in the walls.taylor’s sitting on the floor in a sparkly dress that’s suddenly too much for the quiet room. heels kicked somewhere across the carpet.
karlie appears with two glasses of water.
“rockstar,” she says.
taylor groans. “i think i spoke to 200 people tonight and remember like… three sentences.”
karlie sits beside her, handing over the water.
“you did good. Did you have fun?”
taylor hums and then rests her head on karlie’s shoulder.
karlie doesn’t move. she just leans her head lightly against taylor’s hair.
for a while they sit there in the quiet.
the floor around them is scattered with glitter from the decorations, tiny flecks catching the lamp light like a fallen constellation.
taylor lifts her hand and flicks a piece off her knee.
“we’re gonna find this stuff for the next six months.”
karlie glances down at the floor.
“worth it.”
taylor smiles a little at that, eyes still half closed.
“you danced,” karlie giggles.
taylor rolls her eyes. “Hell yes i did.”
karlie laughs quietly.
taylor takes a sip of the water and exhales.
“i’m so tired.”
“mm.”
“like spiritually.”
karlie bumps her knee against hers.
“c’mere.”
she shifts a little so taylor can lean into her properly, arm loosely around her shoulders.
taylor melts into it immediately.
“you smell like champagne,” karlie murmurs.
“you smell like my conditioner,” taylor glares.
“that’s because mine ran out.”
“Kaaarrrrr,” taylor rolls her eyes, fake annoyed.
another pause settles between them, comfortable.
