Work Text:

Izuku coughed as Katsuki pinned him to the ground, trying his best not to laugh. They were in the middle of sparring, diving around and cackling like children.

"I win again," Katsuki chuckled "You really are shit at this Izuku."

Katsuki Bakugo was Izuku's personal guard, hand picked by his mother. They were childhood friends, from way before Katsuki knew that Izuku was the prince.

Both boys burst out laughing, unable to contain themselves anymore. Gosh they were such idiots. Izuku could never admit it out loud, but he truly did love Katsuki, he just wished it was as easy as it sounded. He personally didn't like PDA, however he did wish he could openly display his love for Katsuki.

Katsuki helped Izuku to his feet, still laughing at earlier.

"The prince and his knight," Izuku thought to himself "Imagine that."

"Izuku dear," Midoriya Inko called out "We have guests. The Uraraka family. Make sure to say hello to Princess Ochako."

"I will mother. Come on Kacchan, lets go great them." Izuku beckoned Katsuki over

The pair walked together towards the throne room, where the Uraraka family and their court jester stood. Izuku and Ochako locked eyes, there was an undeniable sadness in her eyes. Izuku wondered why.

"Your Majesty Queen Inko, I present to you the Uraraka family and their daughter Uraraka Ochako." A palace servent informed them

"Izuku, Ochako. You are set to be married in the next few months. In other words, You're fiances!" Inko exclaimed excitedly

Izuku felt his heart drop to his stomach. Fiance No no no no no this could not be happening. He wanted to throw up.

He looked up at Katsuki, his face was stone cold. The only thing that gave him away was the slight fear in his eyes. Izuku had known him long enough to pick it up. He knew he was bound to get engaged eventually, still he thought Katsuki and him would have a little more time together. Now it all came crashing down. The glances, their moments alone, the stolen kisses, the way Katsuki was so gentle with Izuku.

"Ah, nice to meet you Uraraka." Izuku finally spoke, kissing Ochako's hand.

Ochako smiled, but it didn't quite reach her eyes. She was just being polite. Izuku glance behind Ochako, at the court jester. She was standing stiffly, looking at Ochako with a little too much love in her eyes. She looked oddly familiar, Izuku couldn't place it exactly at the time.

Oh. Oh. Is that why Ochako looked so sad, could it be that she was in a similar position to Izuku.

Ochako glanced over at Izuku's guard. He looked like a statue, scary almost, there was something in his eyes though. The way they tightened slightly when Izuku kissed Ochako's hand.

"I wonder if..." Ochako pondered, curious about the dynamic between Izuku and his guard.

They seemed close, too close actually.

Katsuki was trying his best to keep his poker face up. It was a little harder when they introduced Ochako, but he managed. Looking past the future couple, he glanced at Himiko, his sister. Her blonde hair was falling out of her jester hat slightly. He'll lecture her on that later. She had that look on her face. Katsuki recognized it almost immediately.

"Idiot," He thought "Always falling inlove with people you can't have. Forever the fool indeed."

Katsuki was a fool aswell he supposed. He fell for Izuku afterall.

Himiko skipped uptowards Izuku. Katsuki could basically see the vein bulging on her forehead. Here we go.

"Hi Izuku!~" She greeted him cheerfully

"Oh hello Himiko," Izuku replied politely "I didn't expect to meet you here."

"Well you know, I always did want to be a jester. My brother is treating you right Izuku?" Himiko questioned him, glancing at Katsuki unimpressed.

"Of course Kacchan is treating me right. He wouldn't dare otherwise." Izuku cheerfully announced

Ochako looked between the two, utter confusion written all over her features.

"Hey Izuku, why don't we go have a quick chat." Himiko offered, looking protective of something Katsuki couldn't place at the moment "Alone."

"He will not be going with you Himiko." Katsuki hissed, hand on the hilt of his sword

"You don't own me Katsuki." Izuku defended himself

"It's my duty to protect you Izuku." Katsuki argued back

"Jeez, no need to get so protective Katsuki. I'm your sister afterall. I wouldn't ever think of harming your dear Izuku.~" Himiko sing-songed. She was really getting on Katsuki's nerves now.

"Ah well, we must get on our way now." King Uraraka interrupted, dissolving the tension in the room.

"Farewell then." Izuku wished the Uraraka family on their way.

Later Izuku cornered Katsuki in his bedroom.

"What was with you and Himiko today, Kacchan?" He asked innocently

"She was just being protective over Ochako." Katsuki assured him, planting a quick kiss to his lover's lips.

Izuku hummed, pondering Katsuki's answer. Katsuki could basically see the gears turning in his head. His eyebrows knit in concentration. The realization seemed to dawn on him at that moment.

"Do you think that they're meeting each other secretly?!" Izuku sounded shocked

"Just say dating Zuku, also yes, I'd recognize that look on Himiko's face anywhere." Katsuki stated

"What look?" Izuku sounded genuinely curious now, his emerald eyes looking at Katsuki, making him cave immediately.

"The look of love." Katsuki answered flatly

"Is that the one you give me?" Izuku mischievously said

That made Katsuki to laugh. His laugh was loud and obnoxious, the complete opposite of Izuku's. God he's so beautiful Izuku thought to himself. He couldn't hold himself back anymore. They were in Izuku's room, so nobody would see them.

Izuku cupped Katsuki's cheek and pressed their lips together. His thumb absentmindedly tracing Katsuki's jaw. He wished that they could stay like that forever.

"IZUKU?!" Inko exclaimed

"MOM!" Izuku spluttered, pushing Katsuki away from him, both of the boy's faces were flushed

Inko looked between them, confusion converting into something else. It almost looked like pity.

"Oh Izuku, you should've told me." Inko's voice was barely above a whisper "I wouldn't have made that arrangement with the Uraraka's."

-------------

A few hours before the Midoriya-Uraraka meeting

"I don't want to marry him Himiko," Ochako Uraraka cried "But I have no choice."

They were sitting on Ochako's bed, in her room. Himiko attempting to comfort Ochako.

"It's okay my love" Himiko responded "It was bound to happen eventually'

"Only if I was a man, then our love wouldn't be a sin" Ochako whispered, tears threatening to escape her eyelids.

"Even if you were a man, I'm still your family's court jester. Our love is forbidden" Himiko reminded Ochako, pain clear in her voice.

"Izuku seems like a lovely man, anyone would be lucky to have him, just not me." Ochako admitted, her guilt overwhelming her.

It wasn't her fault that she couldn't bring herself to love a man. It wasn't her fault that she just happened to fall in love with Himiko Toga, her own court jester.

After the meeting

Ochako flopped down onto her bed. Himiko landed next to her.

"I didn't know that THE Bakugo Katsuki was your brother Himiko. How come you never told me?" Ochako sounded hurt

"I figured it wasn't important, he's annoying anyway." Himiko complained

A jester and a honourable knight beign siblings. It was laughable indeed.

Ochako and Himiko lay in silence for the rest of the night, they somehow ended up in a tangled pile of limbs.

Ochako woke up to Himiko being yanked out of her bed, there was yelling and as Ochako looked up, she saw that Himiko was being held by guards. Her hands tied behind her back.

"Take her away. She is to be beheaded tommorow in the square at dawn. You made the mistake of even thinking that you can sleep with my daughter, Toga Himiko." King Uraraka announced, looking utterly disgusted at Himiko

"At least let me say goodbye first father!" Ochako pleaded, she knew that she wouldn't be able to convince her father to spare Himiko.

"Very well" the king begrudgingly allowed it

Ochako ran up to where Himiko was being held by guards. She put her mouth towards Himko's ear to say her farewells.

"I love you Himiko." Ochako promised, tears spilling down her cheeks.

"Goodbye Ochako." Himiko whispered, a sad smile on her lips

The princess and the court jester, a love doomed from the beginning.

Loving you may be a sin, yet I wouldn't have it any other way
