June 29th, 1984
It´s a sunny day in Hawkins,Indiana and the sun is finally setting and everyone retreats into the Starcourt Mall to either meet friends or start their shift at an icecream parlor with their older brother and a friend of theirs. Ines is currently standing at the register and ringing up a costumer, a cute guy around Ines´s age that tries to flirt with her, but she´s too busy ringing up the icecream to even realise that the cute guy in front of her is flirting with her. After the cute guy leaves to join his friends outside the party walks in, including Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Max Mayfield and Wil Byers. “Steven our children are hereeee”, Ines says in a singing voice to make her older brother aware that the party is here and wants something. Ines can hear Steve sigh from the other side of the blinds and opens them to see the party stand at the register in front of Ines. Steve opens the blinds aggressively and says in an annoyed tone “Again? Seriously?” and lets them in and use the back entrance to Scoops Ahoy so they can sneak into the movie theatre for free.
After the party uses the back entrance and Steve,Robin and Ines are alone in Scoops Ahoy, standing in their silly uniforms that are policy mandated, Robin and Steve both turn to Ines who is currently wiping down the counter. “Sooooo, pipsqueak”, Steve says looking at his younger, using a nickname he has used on her since they were younger. Ines is only 5´3 feet and pretty loud considering her short height, so Steve lovingly calls her pipsqueak which Ines has hated since they were kids, and Steve is only a year older than her. “So what, Steven?”, she looks at her older brother confused as she furrows her eyebrows and her eyes jump between him and Robin. “We want updates of you and Eddie ``the freak`` Munson”, Robin jumps in, not being able to hold it anymore. Ines rolls her eyes "Don't call him a freak first of all and second of all, I´m not telling you too nosy lot what me and Eddie are up to, its none of your business what we do, in privacy, in our free time, without anyone, especially you two around us”. Ines herself doesn´t even know what she and Eddie are up to, they are dating and making out, but also not at the same time, they haven´t slapped an official label on their relationship yet. “So you sneaking out of the house to meet Eddie and coming home at 5am was just me imagining things? Good to know ,pipsqueaks”, Ines rolls her eyes at her brother's comment and slightly blushes, but turns away before Steve and Robin can see it.
The rest of the shift goes by normally, except for the small and short power outage. Robin, Ines and Steve, lock up Scoops Ahoy and all walk outside to get to Steve´s car, they all use Steve as their lift. But Ines has other plans and walks over to the Corroded Coffin van with Eddie in the front seat and waiting for her. “ INES LILY HARRINGTON, WHERE ARE YOU GOING?”, Steve yells as he opens the driver's side of his car and Robin gets in the passenger seat. “I HAVE PLANS DON´T WAIT UP FOR ME STEVEN”, she yells back and gets in the passenger seat of Eddie`s van. “Hey, Ed`s”, Ines says in a soft tone, the complete opposite to how she just talked to her brother. She leans towards him and kisses him. He of course kisses her back and gently places his thumb and hand on her jaw and chin to hold her there as they kiss, which is for a long time, neither of them are planning on parting any time soon, well, until the need for air arrives. “Hey, princess”,Eddie whispers against Ines's lips, after their part but neither are ready to pull away completely yet.
Eddie is the first to pull away and start the van so they can finally drive to his trailer. Ines smiles and slumps into her seat and starts taking off a few pieces of her Scoops Ahoy uniform that start annoying her. “How was shift with Robin and Harrington”, Eddie keeps his eyes on the street, but his hand rests on the inside of her thigh. “It was fine, the kids popped by to sneak into the movie theatre, but otherwise it was pretty quiet and nothing else happened, except for Robin and Steven being nosy like always”, she throws some parts of her uniform into her bag and slumps back into the seat. “Why were those two idiots nosy?”, he asks and gently squeezes her thigh. “Just the usual, Steven and Robin both not minding their business and asking me about me and you, which is none of their business”, she rolls her eyes at the memory and gently runs her hand over his leather jacket covered arm. “Oh? they asked about us, what did you answer?”, Eddie smirks and gently runs his thumb on the inside of her inner thigh. “Just for them to mind their business and that what we do is our thing and not theirs to know”, Ines herself honestly doesn´t even know what they´re doing, are they dating? Just fucking? in a serious relationship?. Ines looks over to Eddie and sees that the smirk from his face was wiped away, he also doesn´t know what this thing between them is.
The rest of the car ride is spent in an uncomfortable silence between them two, both are wallowing and thinking what this thing between them is and both pray that they´re thinking the same thing.
