Work Text:

Ire sat alone in the cold and quiet of the desolate, never-ending stretch of corridors. They were leaned against a jagged brick wall and were trying to find comfort in the harsh stone and cement. They felt nothing but a deep rage bubbling within, ready to escape. Yet, they also just wanted rest, quiet and a sense of peace rather than foreboding. Sitting here in solemn was the best that Ire could think of as it clutched it's fists tightly.

Ire just watched nothing, as it stared straight ahead at a blank, boring brick wall. Loneliness was beginning to settle within Ire's mind. They longed for someone to be there beside them, someone that could comfort them. Ire began to slump, their posture worsening as they began to fall into a sense of rage yet also despair. It was quiet though, that was enough. Maybe Ire didn't need anyone else but itself and the quiet. Or did that longing for connection and a purpose mean more than but a split second of agonizing yet encouraging sorrow.

Ire's negativity once again seemed to somewhat motivate it to go and do more than sit in the cold and rot away like fruit. Time is precious, so maybe it's best to connect with another entity. Who would it be though, who would Ire speak to at such a moment in time. Obviously there was Mime or maybe Rue. Wait, Rue? Maybe they just suddenly came to mind but, maybe Ire could talk to them. There was a warm feeling in Ire's chest when they began thinking of Rue strangely enough.

It wasn't a warm feeling of rage, but that of comfort? Ire was confused. Why were they feeling this way. She usually felt anger or sadness or an unimaginable sense of wrath, one that could tear through bone. A warm, fuzzy feeling wasn't something Ire was used to. This was abnormal, especially when thinking about the chance of talking to Rue. Something was terribly wrong with Ire, but what? They desperately clutched their chest, they tried to make the fuzzy feeling disappear. This effort was useless though. She just stood their in disbelief at her own feelings.

Eventually though, Ire decided she would chance their desire to see Rue. This desperate, burning desire had turned into the real thing now, not just fantasy. Soon, Ire was stood before Rue. It was way further ahead than where she was in this makeshift nightmare. But now, Ire was stood in front of a beautiful girl who wore white. Pearl white chains bound most of the entity's appearance together but she still wore an otherworldly gown of a wonderful, bright white with a slight blue undertone. This was all Ire could recall before it's mind felt flooded with all sorts of ideas.

Rue seemed confused and nervous, it was practically shaking while waving at Ire awkwardly. Ire had just suddenly appeared while Rue was all alone. Silence stretched across the room as the two stared at each other before Ire waved back. "howstrange" Rue thought to itself as it stared directly at Ire. Though, Rue began to feel this strange warmth, the same Ire felt before. How odd, how does one feel this way? Rue tried not to make it obvious it felt this way towards Ire. Besides, Ire of all entities here in this place? (Maybe even those fucking five hundred covets would be better than Ire.)

Ire and Rue eventually realised, both felt this same feeling that warm, fuzzy feeling. That feeling like your sat near a toasty fire with your favourite thing. This meant they were both in the exact same situation, one may say they were in the same boat So, Ire and Rue decided to go on a tranquil stroll. A slow walk is what this moment began as and that was all they thought it would be.

They quietly tread through the endless rooms, they were both holding hands without even realising. Soon, they came to a stop though and sat down next to each other, still hand in hand. Ire felt their face getting red-hot, but this time it wasn't because of rage. Rue began to look Ire in the eye, they quietly observed the shift in Ire's expression. Ire eventually leaned closer and began to grasp Rue's hand tighter. Rue would gently adjust themselves to sit more comfortably, letting Ire lean on their shoulder.

The moment was perfect, the two felt their heartbeat slow and their minds stopped racing with endless negative thoughts. Their only focus was on each other as they began to come closer towards each other. Eventually, the two had their first embrace. Ire wrapped her arms tightly around Rue and pressed itself in closer. Rue would slowly reach out it's arms, wrapping them securely around Ire as a reaction. Rue would quietly rest it's head upon Ire as it felt quite relaxed. Rue began to calm down and stopped trembling and Ire felt all that internal rage almost float away.

The quiet connection between the two had finally gone somewhere and now they were both content with each other. Rue was gentle as it began to grasp a bit tighter onto Ire, they did not want the moment to end. Finally though, the two would get up from where they had rested and began to continue their walk. They would move further ahead, far into the distance but they were finally satisfied. And so, the two would now declare themselves lovers.
