Akito was an amazing singer, he couldn't deny that— no one could. His voice control was insane and he always sounded nice, hyping the crowd in a way no one else could. Hell— they wouldn't have been able to surpass RAD WEEKEND if it weren't for that overwhelmingly good comeback. He was an amazing performer, and Toya found himself thinking about how lucky he was to be his partner every waking moment. Unfortunately, people took quite some time to realise just how amazing he was.
Back then, almost everyone would either make fun of him or criticise him, and it was really hard seeing his partner overwork himself to "not fall behind", when he was anything but bad. He was passionate, so passionate and kind that he had given him a dream— a hope. But they did it— they surpassed RAD WEEKEND. And even after that one fight and those rough moments, they ended up both standing on stage with a mix of happiness, excitement, warmth… bunch overwhelming feelings they couldn't exactly put a finger on.
Of course, Toya was happy. He was happy because Akito was finally seen as the wonderful person he was, and not just a random weight holding them back. Or he should be feeling happy, but…
@vbs_VBSlover96:
"They were so good, I can't get enough of the video and the music!! Especially Akito, we ALL agree that our eyes were on him, he's so hot…"
Toya scrolled again.
@Akitosgf3
"How much time did you spend watching Akito sing on the screen instead of actually listening to the song? Me: yes"
@bestvbssongehasouT.T
"Every frame where Akito appears, I feel in heaven… seriously, I can't look away!!"
@Ash51
"Omg can we stop dismissing the other members who sang as good as Akito did? I get it he's handsome and all but if y'all wanna talk about his looks, go on Twitter idk. Anyway my favourite is Shiraishi, she's so good! But tbh, they're ALL amazing, best group fr."
So, they were thirsting over Akito. Well, at least now people acknowledged how perfect his boyfriend was, right? Yet, Toya couldn't shake off the feeling of unease growing in his chest. What was that? He still wasn't good at understanding a lot of things— he guessed being isolated most of his childhood played a big part. Meeting Akito had made him discover a lot, lots of feelings, and it appeared it still kept going. But this time, unlike usual, it was unpleasant, and kind of heavy? For some reason, he began scrolling through Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram and basically any social media they had to search up Akito's name, although he didn't even need to type in the search bar, as his boyfriend would appear in his feed.
First, he would smile proudly at Akito's pictures and angelic-like voice. But then, he would scroll through the comments and the unpleasant feeling would build up again. A sigh escaped from his mouth— there was no use in dwelling on those unknown emotions, he had other things to do. So, he sat on a chair, set up his desk and began studying.
—
"Dude, have you seen that new cafe?" Akito asked with sparkly eyes.
"I have," Toya nodded. "I heard they had good pancakes, so I wanted to take you on a date. Too bad it won't be a surprise anymore…" he shook his head with disappointment.
"Dude…" the smaller licked his bottom lip and scratched the back of his neck, a faint blush appearing in his cheeks. "Who cares if it ain't a surprise anymore? Pancakes are pancakes, so you're all good, alright?"
Toya smiled and nodded, the excitement from taking him on a date growing back again.
"Then, shall we go?"
"Yeah!"
Toya held his hand, looking down at Akito and adoring him. It was so easy to make him blush, he loved it. He loved him— and he wished he would be the only one to ever see this side of Akito, because… why? He didn't know, all he knew was that he wanted him all for himself, which was kind of selfish when he thought about it, yet he couldn't help it. When he saw him, it was like he became another man.
"It's here." Akito pointed at the logo.
"It is." Toya replied, his cheeks starting to hurt a little from how much he had been smiling. Seriously, he couldn't stop. They both sat, ordering their food, and Toya didn't miss the small growl when he ordered a black coffee, with a cookie.
"You drink so much coffee, how are you still alive?? Besides, that thing tastes like, I don't know, iron. Ew." He grumbled with an annoyed face, although Toya could tell he was just worried about him.
"It tastes nice. And you also eat a lot of sweets, so I also wonder how you're still healthy…" he teased. This wasn't something he usually did, but again, being with him was like being another man.
"It doesn't count! I work out, so it balances everything, okay…?"
"What about eating veggies? Carrots?" He laid his head in his hand, already giggling as he knew how the singer would react.
"Man, are you— ughh…" he couldn't keep frowning at the sight of his cute boyfriend pulling strings on him, so he pressed his cheeks, trying to hold smile. Toya stared, but it only lasted a few seconds before the waiter arrived. That was too bad.
"Order 76, here's your food."
"Thank you, Sir." Akito smiled politely, and his eyes glued to the pancakes not even a second after. Big, a lot of syrup, whipped cream… he was almost drooling. It was like he was in America again! He cut a big slice, and without wasting time, he shoved it in his mouth.
"Hm…" he closed his eyes and joined his hands together, thanking every God for making him eat something so good. What had he done to deserve this?
"What a good sight." Toya thought. Akito had probably forgetten he was sitting right in front of him, but he didn't care. He was just happy he was enjoying himself. His mouth was fully stuffed with food, making his freckles even more visible, closed eyes showing off his long eyelashes and syrup slightly rolling on his plump lips. He wanted to lick it off with his tongue, though Akito's brain would probably shut off right then and there. Either way, this was once again a sight only he would ever see, how nice.
"Um… excuse me?" A short haired girl with glasses and a light blue dress approached them. Her hands were fidgeting together and her head wasn't fully up— she looked shy.
"Yes?" Toya replied, because Akito's mouth was still full.
"Umm…" she paused a little, then turned her head to the ginger. "Are you Shinonome Akito from vivid BAD SQUAD?"
Akito, suprised, swallowd his food and breathed for a few second, before replying.
"Yeah, I am." He put on a smile.
"Oh my god—!" She covered her mouth to keep herself from screaming. "C-can I hold your hand?"
Akito chuckled, he should've seen it coming.
"Sure." He stood up from his seat and put his hand together, letting the girl cup his hands and turning red.
"T-thank you…! And sorry, I might sound weird right now…" she looked away, blushing harder.
"It's alright," he started. "Would you like a picture as well?"
The girl gasped then nodded, picking out her phone. She fixed her glasses then the both of them did a peace sign.
"Thank you again, I'm such a big fan!"
"No, thank you." He patted her head. "I feel so honoured to have a fan like you. Keep supporting us, okay?" He smiled at her.
After a few more exchanged words, the girl left with a happy smile and Akito sat back down, focus drifting back to the sweet food. And Toya could not focus on Akito this time— or well, not his face, which is unusual. Instead, his gaze lowered to Akito's hand. A little rough, showing off all the effort he's went through to achieve his dreams yet still somewhat soft, smaller than his and mi-long nails he took good care of. Did his sister force him to keep them clean? That would be funny. Anyway, why was every part about him so distracting? He was so beautiful.
He wished he could say he was the only one that could hold his hands, but he wasn't, not anymore. That girl, a complete stranger, had held his hands, touched skin to skin, and even gotten a headpat. From Akito. Akito had never even considered patting someone else's head, or hold hands with someone besides him, yet he had just given that privilege to someone else. The heavy feeling grew back and Toya shook his head.
"No, please, not now…" he thought. The last thing he wanted was to make him worry, or see through… through that. What was that? He didn't know, but for some reason he still didn't want Akito to know. This day was supposed to be perfect, he would see Akito smile, laugh, talk about everything and nothing. He couldn't ruin anything now, he just needed to—
"Toya?" Akito had stopped eating to look at the taller, something he hadn't been aware off, too busy spiralling in his head.
He blinked.
"Yeah?" He replied, hoping he wouldn't ask any further questions. God, was he wrong.
"What happened? Are you okay?" He asked, worried, the exact expression Toya didn't want to see.
"I'm fine."
"You're trembling. And your grip on my hand is awfully strong…" he gestured with his other free hand. "You know I won't be able to relax unless you're better. You can rely on me, y'know? I'm your partner after all."
Toya hesitated, slowly moving his hand away and still not knowing how it even got here in the first place. He really didn't want to talk about this, but he knew Akito made him weak, he would end up spilling it out. He just wished he could feel better without having to talk. Wait, he could…
"Come at my place tonight." He finally broke the tension, and finally took a bite off his cookie.
"Huh?!" Akito's face flushed, and his partner couldn't hold a smile.
"I'll tell you later. So, can we enjoy this meal just for a while?" Akito smiled fondly, before stuffing the rest of the pancake in his mouth, all at once. "Looks like his appetite is back" is what the taller thought, before focusing on his meal, if you could even call it that.
Then things went back to normal for a little— Akito bragged about everything and nothing, Toya occasionally nodding or letting a small 'hm' come out of his mouth so the ginger knew he was being listened to. Toya wanted it would last forever. This moment, only him and his perfect, dazzling, cute, passionate and kind boyfriend, background noises fading away, only letting the two live in a small bubble no one could penetrate.
"We should leave now." Akito stood up.
The other nodded and followed. He was feeling quite impatient, so his pace was faster than any other day. He took Akito's hand in his, and continued walking, and walking. Was the house always this far? Why did he constantly need to feel the touch of his hands today in particular? Nothing mattered, his house was now only a few feet away.
"Dude you're walking so fast today…!" Akito growned. Not like he had much difficulty following up, he just felt like pointing it out. Just Akito being Akito.
Toya paused once they got in front of the main door, realising too how fast he had been walking, because now everything was catching up all at once. Akito waited patiently for him to catch his breath.
"You need to be discreet, Akito." He nodded.
It was always the same routine they followed whenever he was coming. He knew his father would never kick him out… probably. But he still preferred to avoid any interactions between the two of them. And so they followed the same plan, and it worked, again. After he greeted his dad and walked upstairs to join the smaller, he sat on his bed.
"Phew…" he sighed.
Akito stared, waiting patiently and expectedly next to him.
Toya didn't want to talk about it, but he didn't have to talk. He leaned closer to his partner, admiring the view for a few seconds before making their lips touch. At first, it was only a little brush. But when he heard Akito breathe out, he couldn't contain it any longer. He pushed closer, kissing him a little lees gentle than before. Akito didn't seem to hate it though— he would let him release all frustrations he felt into kissing. He wrapped his arms around the taller's neck, tilting his head to the right to have more access to his soft lips.
Toya held him closer, hands firm on his small waist and pushed him down on the bed, now being on top of him. His partner responded by tightening his grip, letting out a few whimpers when the singer would bite his lower lip or lick it with his warm tongue. When the ginger tried to lean back and catch his breath, his boyfriend moved a hand to back to Akito's head and crashed their lips together once again.
The older kept kissing him again, and again, and again. His hands wandering on his soft cheeks, slowly sliding down on his neck, then his collarbones, down his waist, and finally— his hand. He wanted his whole skin to remember his lips.
"Toya…" Akito breathed out his name, hands in his hair. The taller finally learned back, unfortunately needing to fill his lungs with air. They both stared at each. Akito's lips slightly parted away, face flushed, eyelids half-closed and hand in his, not moving away— he wished this moment would last forever. Actually, he wished every shared moment with him could last forever, because everything felt complete with him. Complete, enjoyable, worth doing.
"Now you're not getting away with kisses!" Akito frowned, pinching his cheek, but it didnt last long before his grumpy expression turned into a grin. "You're unbelievable…" he sighed with a smile, then hugged him. The older immediately wrapped his arms around his partner, feeling the warmth spread in his whole body. He was lucky, so lucky to be his. Because he felt happy, safe, loved… and so did Akito.
"Now now… what's wrong, partner?" Toya froze. Of course, he inevitably had to tell him at some point— he even invited him to stay over out of nowhere just for this. But still… he hugged him a little harder and Akito, as always, so patient, let him take his time, gather his thoughts… just let him be. He took a deep breath.
"You've been trending online…" he wasn't sure this was the best way to start this conversation, but he continued anyway. "I'm so happy people have finally been recognising you. You're so amazing, you deserve everything."
He smiled when he felt Akito's hands gently play with his hair, guessing the younger was blushing even if he couldn't see him. He felt so good being vulnerable around him everything suddenly became less scary.
"But then…" he paused for a few seconds, then gathered his courage once again. "It felt weird, in my chest… and heavy." He didn't know how else to describe the feeling— why was he so bad at this? "Like… like…" he tried to think of words, but it was pointless. Still, he tried harder.
"What triggered this feeling?" Akito finally spoke out. Toya was startled, but he replied nonetheless. "When I saw the comments… praising you. I know it's weird— I'm happy seeing you appear on my feed but then I look at the comments and- also the fan at the cafe I-…" he didn't know how to continue this further. The silence was oppressive, and he almost regretted letting his mouth run, but his boyfriend did want him to rely on him more, right…? Was this right?
"Is there any comment that picked your attention more than the others?" Toya sighed. "One comment said they couldn't look away from you and that your hair looked really soft. They even said they wished they could ruffle them… that's my thing! Or, more like yours but… you get it… our thing. And that fan. She held your hands, the ones I thought only I would ever get to touch."
Silence.
"Really, Toya?" The tone he used made the older surprised. He didn't sound upset, nor happy… he didn't know how he sounded like. "Yeah…" he replied with a sad voice. "I think the worst part is when you ruffled her hair, it was…"
"Toya, you're jealous."
"Huh?" Jealous? Then was he a bad partner? "No I— I'm really happy you're getting recognition! I promise I…" Akito stopped hugging him to hold Toya's face, making him lean back just enough so they could look at each other. "I don't doubt it, dude… I trust you, I know you're telling the truth."
"Then…" he looked at him with a sad puppy face.
"I'm saying you're jealous that people might see other sides of me." Toya just stared at listened, while Akito turned bright red. "Or like, maybe I'm overestimating my importance but! From what you've told me, you're actually more concerned about people seeing… things you wish only you could?" He looked away, saying this out loud was so embarrassing.
"So that's what I've been feeling…" Toya whispered, gaze still on his pretty boyfriend who hadn't stopped holding his face. And then everything clicked— the fan holding his hands, wanting them both to be in their little world where no one else would ever see or comprend, his obsession with looking at him, and just discover an expression anyone else would be clueless about, because he was his boyfriend. Toya closed his eyes and winced, realising how possessive he had actually been this whole time, and revealed it to Akito on top of it. "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologise, man…" Akito kissed his forehead. "I get how you feel so… I'm just glad you were able to confide in me, and figured out together." He kissed his forehead.
"You do?" He appeared more suprised than he intended to.
"I confessed to you. And you talk to way more people than I do, you also have a very cute face, and an amazing musical ear, and… you're so kind with everyone. So, obviously I… well…" he laughed nervously.
"I love you so much." Toya hopped on the side of the bed to cuddle him, pressing Akito's back against his chest and burying his nose in his neck. "I… love you too…" Akito whispered, pressing his body closer to his the singer's, and Toya could drown in his own happiness. So, it was okay to want him all for himself, Akito didn't mind, Akito understood. Akito…
Akito.
The two teenagers kept quiet, enjoying the comfortable silence that settled in. Sure, Toya didn't do his homework, Akito didn't message anyone from his family that he wasn't coming back home before the next day, the older still had to learn to accept, sort out and control his feelings better… he had so many things to learn, but with Akito, it all felt like he could do it, one step at a time.
And so, they both fell asleep.
