Chapter 1
Mikes pov
My name is Mike wheeler I’m moving from sunny California to a strange place called Hawking’s, I’m going to live with my sister Nancy, who is a sheriff deputy because my mum and dad want to take holly on a round the world trip before she starts school for the first time I didn’t know then how much my world would change.
No ones pov
Karen gave Mike one last hug at the airport before he got on his plane "now remember Nancy is picking you up from the airport call me when you are safely at her place" Mike just gave a short nod but hugged her back "I will have fun on your trip" he gave one last wave and boarded the plane.
The plane landed in Hawking 4 hours later but to Mike it seemed like forever he was tired and hungry but he cheered up when he saw Nancy waiting for him.
Nancy gave him a big hug and they walked to her car as she drove she looked at her brother "your hair is longer than the last time i saw you" "i decided to grow it i hate having my hair cut" Mike grumbled. Nancy smiled "it suits you. i decorated your room so its all ready for you, blue is still your favourite colour isnt it?" "blues cool" Mike said with a smile in his voice
Nancy pulled up in front of a small house and got out of the car Mike following her inside they went upstairs and Nancy opened the door to Mikes bedroom it was decorated beautifully with a blue painted wall left blank for his posters and a lovey double bed with a blue duvet cover "i will leave you to put your stuff away and then I’m taking you to my favourite diner for burgers and fries because i bet you are hungry from your long flight" she then left him alone when he was done he heard voices from outside his window he looked out and saw a strange man with long black hair and colourful clothing. Confused Mike went downstairs and greeted the strange man "nice to meet Mike I’m Argyle I’m a friend of Nancy’s" "i wouldn’t say that I arrested you for smoking drugs more than once may i add" Argyle just laughed then pointed to an old pizza van in the driveway "i did this up for you so you have something to drive to school do you like it?" Mike smiled and got in "this is so cool thank you" Nancy just shook her head but deep down she was smiling to see her brother so happy "thank you now me and Mike are going to Benny’s burgers because he has had a long flight and is hungry see you later Argyle and thank you for the van" Argyle smiled and waved goodbye.
They arrived at benny’s Nancy ordered for them she noticed Mike just picking at his food but didn’t say anything when they got back to Nancy’s place Mike got his phone out and called his mum but got no answer.
The next day Mike got into his van and arrived at
Hawkins high school he immediately felt like an outsider in California he had 2 friends he hung out with but here he knew no one he parked and heard a remark from someone saying nice ride but didn’t see who it was.
First period was gym class they were playing volleyball Mike wasn’t very good at sports, someone passed the ball to him and he tried to pass it back but it went the wrong way and bumped a girl on the back of the head. Mike went straight to her and apologised "I’m so sorry i told them not to let me play" the girl smiled "don’t worry it was an accident my name is Suzie" Mike was about to say something when a boy with curly hair and crooked smile ran up "my name is Dustin you have quite the right hook there hey arent people from California really tanned?" Mike smiled and said "yh maybe thats why they kicked me out" Dustin and Suzie both laughed Mike went back to his spot not noticing Suzie looking and smiling at him.
At lunch time Mike sat down thinking he would be eating lunch alone when Suzie and Dustin sat next to him out of nowhere a girl kisses Mike on the cheek and says my boy Suzie jumps out of her seat and chases the girl shouting "no my boy" Dustin looks upset and says "wow its like first grade again and your the shiny new toy" Mike looks down and mutters a "yeah" Suzie sits back down and is out of breath. The doors then crash open and Mike sees some people who he thought would be in the popular crowd walk in, "who are they?" Mike says not believing his eyes Dustin looks at him and tells him "the tall one in the front his name is Jonathan he always seems to be in pain, the couple holding hands their names are Lucas and Max, the one with the bowl cut his name is Will he is really weird and the other girl her name is Jane but people call her El because her middle name is Eloise no one here is good enough for her like i care you know. Their dad Jim Hopper is chief of police slash foster dad, slash match maker" Suzie looks dreamy and says "maybe he’ll adopt me" Dustin just shakes his head. " yh but they all live together it's weird" But Mike couldn't stop staring at the strange girl called Jane.
It was the last lesson of the day it was biology Mike had very good grades in this class in California and wanted to make a good impression unfortunately the last spot was next to Jane and she kept giving him evils he sat down next to her and noticed how beautiful she was with big brown eyes and curly brown hair, she also put her hand up and covered her nose. Mike confused smelled his hair to see if it smelled ok when it did he looked back at Jane confused. when the bell went Jane rushed from the classroom not even saying goodbye to Mike.
